I checked handyman apps but the whole "hourly rate" thing felt like a financial gamble because who knows how long a door takes?? I hit up my neighborhood app and called a few neighbors and that's how I found Handy Randy's General Contracting -- and listen... just call Randy first and save yourself the spiral. Randy was energetic, professional, and ready to get me in SAME DAY (who even does that anymore??). The install was done by Francisco and Dennis and these guys were on it. Communication was solid -- I knew when they were coming, no guessing games. I work from home and told Randy I had a 1pm meeting. The crew walked in and Francisco goes, "Hey I saw in the notes you have a meeting." Sir... organization AND respect for my schedule?? Already impressed. They got straight to work, I jumped on my meeting, and about an hour later -- boom -- beautiful new exterior door like I suddenly have my life together. Price was right. Work was clean. No drama. No mess. No headaches. Quick, professional, and efficient -- exactly how I like my home projects handled. I had 3 trees to remove, we discussed pricing beforehand. $400 per tree…read more Problems started immediately as soon as he realized I'm remotely managing this, with a tenant in place. Dylan visited the property and decided one of the trees was too big and wanted to charge higher amount ($650). I agreed. He then set out to do absolutely whatever HE felt was convenient. He cut one tree down. "Trimmed" another tree. At this point he called me and said he's done with 2 trees, can I send in the money for finishing up two trees. This was a blatant lie. I did not ask for proof, because I didn't think disgusting liars like Dylan existed anymore. I sent him the money. He sent me photos of what he did afterwards, which showed two of three trees still standing. On asking why there are 2 trees still up, he mentioned he spoke to the tenant and decided to keep the tree up. This didn't make any sense. Nobody changes the agreement without discussing it, lies about it to the person paying and gets paid as though they did the full work. That's when he ended up "finishing" the other tree with minimal work done (of trimming) because he had enough with this. Mind you his communication with me was to say nothing about all of this until he got paid, then he said his life was in danger to cut trees. Like who the heck forced him to work on things he didn't want to? He then said he'll "make it right" by showing up on Monday to fix it. Would you guess what happened next? He didn't show up and decided to run away with the money. Dishonest cheats like this shouldn't exist. I'm now looking at legal options to deal with the mess. Please find someone more honest to work with.

My honest review of this "business" should you choose to call it that is as follows…read more  First and foremost this "business" does not reside at the address it claims to. The address listed is not only my personal residence but also one that the owner of this "business", Greg Hall, is not allowed within 200 yards of due to domestic violence. A judge ordered him to vacate the premises over a year ago. So it would be a little difficult to handle business from that distance and with those restrictions.  With that being said and also to keep things honest. Greg Hall used to reside at the address above and did do some "work", if you can call it that, allow me to share the highlights: leaky second hand skylight taken from a previous job, added archways to kitchen that also leak, ill fitted reused kitchen sink from a previous remodel for another client, unfinished framing around oven, a "gazebo" made from old rotted doors torn from previous demolition jobs, and his prized possession, a home made urinal crafted from double stacking two regular bathroom sinks. This is just a short list of some of the dozens of well documented "upgrades" he did to our home. Keep in mind that these "upgrades"  were done while he lived at this address. If this is the care and lack of respect he took in "renovating" his own home then what kind of quality can you really expect for a home that he does NOT live in. When it comes to remodeling your home or business I would do yourself a favor and save yourself the headache and take your job to a more reliable, responsible, honest contractor.
