I was referred to this place by my auto repair shop to help me with reattaching the cover of the AcuraWatch camera on the windshield of my MDX. My last experience involved the replacement of a Honda Sense multi-purpose camera. I purchased the OEM part ($900) and Sal was able to install and recalibrate my truck, even though the truck is lifted for $300 ($1,200 total). Dealer wanted over $2,200 and was unlikely to recalibrate a lifted truck. Sal is a genius in addition to demonstrating customer appreciation not found in most service/dealer locations. I came here after finding out that unfortunately another auto glass business had possibly damaged the sensor portion of my car that's connected or behind to the windshield. I went to another glass repair business before coming to Exceptional Autoglass. I had my windshield replaced by the other business without knowing my 2020 Toyota Camry needed someone who knew how to deal with the sensor attached to the windshield. The sensor feature is for pre-collision braking and to avoid swerving into other lanes. It's right behind the rear view mirror and attached to the windshield inside. I needed my windshield replaced since a crack had spread to the driver's side. The other business did initially want to charge somewhat more due to them having to put back this sensor system. The other business didn't tell me until after they replaced the windshield that my sensor may need to recalibrated and they didn't have the means to do it. You need a diagnostic tool to check the sensor and to fix it as well. You also need to know how to fix or properly install the sensor system. My car immediately had warning lights come on after they had replaced the windshield and they stated they couldn't do anything. Then they advised I go somewhere I could have the sensor recalibrated. This was disappointing that the other business was dishonest and chose to not share that information until they had already replaced the windshield and took my money. So I came here to Exceptional Autoglass under the impression that the sensor in my Camry would need to be recalibrated for an additional cost. The owner Sal was able to schedule an appointment with me pretty quickly. He found out that something wasn't plugged correctly in this system by the other auto glass business and resolved the problem right then. I returned a 2nd time to see if the sensor still needed to be recalibrated due to the car saying the system was turned off although, all the warning lights went away once Sal fixed the plug. Again, it was a simple fix in the settings that I didn't know existed on the steering wheel, it was sort of embarrassing. But it was also great that both times were a quick fix done by Sal at no additional cost. The recalibration service alone is pretty costly at the auto glass businesses that are able to provide this service. I appreciate the owner Sal for being so helpful and for being honest. He clearly wasn't just out to make money like the other business I had gone to. He definitely will be getting my business in the future related to my car's windshield and the sensor installed with it. He has the means to properly install the windshield and sensor system on newer Toyota Camry's. This model isn't just a simple windshield replacement, so it can't just be taken anywhere. The sensor system did not need to be recalibrated at all thanks to Sal and his knowledge about the system. read more
