I am scheduled for an ultrasound guided procedure on my shoulder. I met with a PA named Cori. She never looked me in the eye. She spoke only to her med assistant who did her typing. I had to repeatedly ask her to clarify what she was telling me. I did not receive any printed information on preparing for this procedure or what to expect or even if I could drive home on my own. In addition, she chastised me when I told her my pain level. Why ask that question if you don't take patients seriously. So I did what healthcare professionals tell us NOT to do, I had to look the information up on the internet. turns out that I do need a driver and a day off work which I did not prepare for. Sad when AI is your only hope. I have been with Excelsior for years and years. The changes that have been made in procedure and healthcare "professionals" are not an improvement for patients. I guess we all have to live with progress now that excelsior is a huge conglomerate and not patient centered. PS c Cori is not the only PA at excelsior who could take lessons from the frontline staff who are kind and respectful. Needless to say I am verry concerned about going through with the procedure. read more

Dr. Reed is an amazing doctor, the staff is nice, however some of their practices are insane. They receive thousands for their services and argue about charging patients $15 per form to fill out for disability paperwork. Nothing like making thousands more off patients who are already in financial bonds because they are off work and now have reduced incomes due to their surgeries. I find this appalling and senseless. Jelly-bean shaped Orthopedist walked into consultation room and, without a greeting or looking at me, asked "so when are you setting up for knee replacement?" I asked "Are you serious or kidding?" He seemed offended and said in a demeaning tone "you have bone-on-bone; all your cartilage is gone". He didn't show the x-rays or discuss the radiologist's report. I told him "you must be a clown. I am out of here. Goodbye". That was it. An ass, for sure. Please go to a good PT (NOT at excelsior) before considering an orthopedic practice where surgery is a major money grabber. read more

I've been at patient since 2014 there. Dr. Reed ordered an MRI of my neck. They sent the authorization to the wrong place. 22 phone calls later they never fixed it making me unable to get my MRI. Contracting a RARE BACTERIAL INFECTION is definitely the most important reason NOT to get surgery at Excelsior Orthopedics. There is so much more! I could go on for days but it would seem petty and is not who I am. This is an actual WARNING to be so careful who you choose when seeking medical care or a surgical procedure. Trust your instincts!! Mine were telling me not to let this person operate on me but I was in so much pain I ignored all the red flags!! The surgeon actually called me and THANKED ME for telling him about my RARE bacterial infection and for bringing this to his attention. "You don't see this type of bacteria often it's really rare!!" I was at a loss for words for a moment!! Throughout the entirety of our conversation he sounded excited that I had such a RARE BACTERIAL INFECTION!! I cannot make this up! He then said, " well this kind of bacteria is found in people with autoimmune disorders" as if it grows in immunocompromised patients and is not a bacteria you can get any other way!! Yes, people who have compromised immune systems are more susceptible!! But this is definitely NOT the reason it happened to me!! This bacteria is found in suctioning tubes and unclean water sources at hospitals and hospital like setting (surgical centers). He went on to congratulate me for taking care such care of my wound. I had ZERO choice not to!! He certainly wasn't taking care of it. My reply to him was, " you're lucky we are in the medical profession and know what we're doing! If we hadn't had the knowledge medically things would have gone very wrong!!! They offered me one appointment but totally inconvenient hours. I was told they would check with the team to see what could be done and NEVER received a call back. I was so frustrated I called to speak with the practice manager. She promised to investigate my concerns and assured me she would take care of all my concerns personally. I went to Excelsior right after I received my result from infectious disease. I asked to speak with her. She still hasn't responded to my recent request for a call. This is the same practice manager who instructed me "to reach out to her PERSONALLY if I need anything or have any concerns!!" Do not go to Excelsior Orthopaedics. I spent nearly six months trying to get answers for a numb foot and toes. From the beginning, I explained that I did not believe I had a fracture. Despite this--and despite multiple X-rays and MRIs showing no fracture--they continued to insist that was the problem. Excelsior Orthopaedics put me in a boot and on crutches for weeks, even though my foot was turning blue and becoming increasingly numb. They gave me only one referral to neurology and failed to listen when I expressed concern that something more serious was happening. At one point, they even attempted to order additional X-rays after I had already completed several, which I ultimately refused. Because my concerns were repeatedly dismissed, I sought help from other doctors on my own. That is when I finally received the correct diagnosis: a severe arterial blockage in my leg. Wearing the boot and using crutches actually worsened the blockage and caused further compression on my left side, delaying proper treatment. Even after explaining to Excelsior Orthopaedics that their approach delayed my diagnosis and made my condition worse, they continued to pursue payment. Their lack of urgency, accountability, and basic patient care is shocking. If it were not for my primary care physician stepping in and taking my symptoms seriously, I truly believe I would not be here today read more

I recently had a Total knee replacement at Excelsior Orthopaedics at the Amherst location and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire process. My first visit was very good. The office was clean and comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. My wait time was minimal. I found everyone on the team to be very informative and thorough. Any anxiety I was experiencing prior to the surgery was alleviated once I met with Dr. Vargo. The surgery itself went very well. I was up and walking with a walker as soon as I left the recovery room. We even did a little P.T. The quality of care I received was exceptional. When I left the surgical center (the same day) the team made sure I had all the things I needed to help with my recovery ie. pain meds, walker, cane, cooling machine for icing, grabber, etc. They called me the next day to check on me and make sure I was doing alright. My physical therapy was already scheduled. The first week was rough, as I knew it would be but here it is, 19 days later and I am walking on my own and no pain! I no longer needed pain meds by day 9. My overall experience with Excelsior Orthopaedics was great. If I ever need another TKR, I would definitely go back to Excelsior Orthopaedics. Awesome team and quality care ! read more

I called this business that after degraff that didn't know wtf they was doing there said it was goat however it spelled on my foot with the severe pain I was in than after they cancelled my transportation that at like 1040pm was told bye them midnight was the earliest they could get me and do to the severe pain I was in not able to walk had the security guard call the cab company both buffalo transportation than liberty than getting told from him the buffalo one was coming and would be their in 40 I baby stepped approx a mile home which took from approx 12am a little after until like 110am. I went to ken pre mercy which they told me it wasn't nothing like I was told and I have a fracture that would take 6 to 8 weeks so I call this place I was told bye that hospital to link with. They tell me they are not able to schedule an appointment and with having no doc at moment leaves me back to the drawing board. Advise stay away from this B's place somebody needs to give them justice and show them the better business bureau needs to shut them down whoever has a quick brain please make a page to have folks voice their experiences and shut them down and the b that said that to me on not able to make any appointment needs karma back at her 10 fold if not a 100 so I'll close with f this business don't deal with them as they try in call you out of your character with their horrible treatment read more

This is regarding their Express facility. You are put through an exam by students...without permission. Then same exam AGAIN by a PA. I came out in worse pain than I went in with. Was not listened to about my pain reactions. The PA was way too aggressive. I'm a senior and kept being told during the exam to push through the pain even when I said I can't do it! Suffering terribly the day after. My second time here, it appears to be a learning clinic for students! Won't ever go back to Express. No complaints about Doctors in the regular practice. read more

I have now completed all of my appointments things have flowed smoothly. I typically arrive 15 minutes early for an appointment and I usually get taken in on time or before. Hip replacement went smoothly in the outpatient surgical center and follow up with PT was immediate and I was back home before 11am. I've been with this firm since 2011 when I got hurt at work I had xrays and great sessions with Dr.Slough and Brian his asst. I had torn meniscus and ACL. Had PT and listened to the Doctors order. Went back to work in 3 months. The Best Care ever! Now I'm returning for knee Replacement one step at a time! I'll be seeing Dr.Anain for precarious for anything I need before surgery. I'm extremely disappointed by this practice. I contacted this office for help with my son's injury that had not healed properly. We were not asking for a second opinion -- he had never been seen or treated for the issue. He simply wanted to consult with a qualified hand surgeon about possible correction. The office staff refused to schedule him, stating they "don't give second opinions," which makes no sense in this case. He was denied care based on a false assumption, and they showed no interest in understanding his situation. Denying a patient access to care -- especially for something potentially correctable -- is irresponsible and unethical. I hope this practice reconsiders how they screen and treat people who reach out for help. read more

The surgery and treatment were well taken care of by Dr. Zinno at Excelsior Orthopedics . However if it is regarding a Workers Comp case.. you must make sure you document everything yourself. Any time you have issues with pain or any problems regarding your injury at all. Keep detailed Documents. I know that this was no Fault of Dr. ZINNO. He is not the one recording the notes from the appointments you will have. He has a aide and they litterally do not listen or document any issues you might have. They had my report to workers compensation insurance looking like I had this total issue free experience and even went as far to as to point out I was in a accident that had no effect on my Injured shoulder or negatively impacted my life in anyway. However this aide decided to add this information. So then the insurance company thinks my injury is no longer legitimate because this "Accident" could have caused any future issues and possibly re Injured my shoulder making it the reason I didn't recover properly. On top of that issue. This Aide failed to mention of me complaining about any issues with pain. Or any everyday issues I was having in my daily life. Luckily I was able to show that they made a report that was not accurate by my appointment notes as well as my outgoing complaints frequently on the patient portal messages I had sent them.. so please make sure everything is being documented. Ask for notes after the appointment and keep track of everything. That type of negligence can seriously mess up a comp case as well as any long term benefits you may be entitled too. How do you rate someone with a 60 percent MMI and they have no issues or complaints? No documented issues at all But for some reason more then half of my ability is compromised? So Dr. Zinno is definitely 10 out of 10!! His staff...not so much. read more

I would give zero stars if I could & still post this review. The podiatrist took (along with insurance) 4 months to obtain MRI's on a 70 yr old patient AND then took another 13 days to provide the MRI results after the patient called multiple times and sent a portal message (that message is still unanswered 2 months later). Put the patient in a cam boot for 5 weeks (that was the incorrect size!) and then switched to rigid shoes although they were complaining about increasing pain and swelling. Sent them to their pain dr who never even examined the patient (but fraudulently charted that he did) and he wanted to give her tramadol. Never looked at her injuries, just push the narcotics (gotta keep those patients coming back). Declined those. Took her back to the podiatrist, who again, ignored her complaints of increased pain and swelling and never looked at her injuries since the initial visit and gave her 2 rigid shoes and sent her on her way. Oh, also made sure the elderly patient was taking her steroid (iykyk). Guess what? She had MORE fractures and extensively that landed her admitted to the hospital. Completely gross and negilgent. Do NOT go here if you actually want thorough care and to heal. read more

i was told to come 10 minutes early for a 10:00 appointment for thumb injury. after 30 minutes in the first waiting room i was met with a staff member and answered a few routine questions. when i asked how long to see the dr. she said one person was ahead of me. after being sent to a second private waiting room another staff member came an asked a couple routine questions. i had an appointment with eye dr, later and asked when i will see the dr. he said there were 2 people ahead of me. someone must have cut in line. at 11:30 the dr, eventually appeared. i asked how you start the day at 8 and by 10 you are an hour and a half behind schedule? i am to trust my medical health with someone who isn't capable of successfully scheduling an appointment and being remotely punctual? not mention waiting a month and a half to get appointment. read more

I had this horrible pain in my hip and groin Went to see the doctor who said that my hip and groin were shattered even showed me what X-ray they could get. So we were sent to Kenmore Mercy where I was instructed to go to the emergency room where I met the Doctor and he had more X-rays taken a lot easier than at the office (softer table) and I was rushed into surgery which turned out to be 5 1/2 hrs. Called yesterday regarding some X-rays my doctor's office sent to them. There was an indication I might have a fracture. I told them I was experiencing some periodic pain and wanted to know if the X-rays showed anything. I was told to make an appointment. They then told me the earliest available date was 3 weeks away. Updated review 12/22/20: I was referred to Excelsior Orthopedic to have a permanent cast placed on my right wrist and forearm after a motor vehicle accident the night before. The physician assistant who examined my x-ray, was professional and courteous and communicated medical information well. The professional Who applied my fiberglass cast knew what she was doing and explain everything. What not to do with this type of cast etc. However for my one week follow up appointment, I did insist on seeing a medical doctor, as opposed to a nurse practitioner or a physicians assistant. If you read my earlier review of Excelsior you will know why. This time I'm not taking any chances and I want the professional opinion examination by a highly trained orthopedic doctor. Also, Everyone maintain social distance and was wearing a mask. The building and exam rooms are very clean. This is important to note. read more

Waited over an hour for doctor Lanahan to come in. Told him I wanted a copy of my xray images and the report on them. He said right away that "we don't own these images, they are your property" I said "I brought a CD of xrays and they were uploaded onto your files and I want a copy. Dr. L abruptly left the room where I waited for another 10 min.alone, then he motioned me to come into another room to look at the xrays on HIS computer. I had asked him had he looked at my xrays BEFORE coming in the room...he said he had but I thought he had only JUST looked at them when he motioned me in to look at them. Told me about some surgical option for bad arthritis and when I paused he said "Another guy this morning jumped at the chance to repair it". When I asked for clarification which joint was bad...doc said "You are challenging me, not believing me". I'm not a doctor was unclear what joints were pictured in the xray. Then he nearly pulled me out of the office and waved "bye bye". I am going to have to write on portal to get more info on surgery as he quickly dismissed any explanation of it. I always get "summary of today's visit" printout which tells me what doctor "thinks" of his performance........"all questions answered and all options explained". No they were not!!!! read more

I had an unfortunate accident carrying a laundry basket down the stairs, thinking I had reached the bottom before I actually did. I managed to injure both my left knee and right ankle. Excelsior has an urgent care treatment option, which is similar to the other stand-alone urgent care centers, except obviously, their specialty deals with orthopedics. They have an online same day appointment scheduling option, which is so much better than just showing up not knowing how busy they may be at that time. Plus, it's then so easier completing the medical forms at home rather than while in their waiting room. I was taken in within minutes of my arrival, and shortly after that x-rays were completed. My longest wait was waiting for the doctor, and that wasn't too long. Once he arrived (I didn't get his name), he was thorough and very patient as I asked my questions. I never felt rushed. Actually, everyone I dealt with was the same. Luckily for me, there were no serious injuries. Bottom line, maybe I just shouldn't do the laundry anymore! :) But if I do have any reason again to visit Excelsior I'd be very comfortable doing so. 2022-08 read more

This is for the podiatry office. First - it's filthy in the waiting area, a bottle cap and other trash on the floor. Second- no sink in the examing room so the MD came in, no hand washing. Third- waited over an hour to be seen for 2.5 minutes ( (I timed it). Fourth- yanked and twisted the foot causing pain that's lasted all day. Fifth- a bug crawling around in the X-ray room. Sixth- the MD had a pad of paper with notes, no computer or other chart. Overall a very bad experience. No explanation at all of what was to expect going forward. Seriously go somewhere else! read more

Called for a consult appointment on Friday, appointment at Clinic the next day! (Since injury was within last 14 days). Extremely efficient and friendly. Paperwork was completed in no time and was in to begin medical evaluation exactly at 2 which was our appt time. When I had X-rays at the ER, they took them lying in a hospital bed. Here, I had to stand on the bad leg which I assume enhanced the quality of the imaging. I was prescribed a walking boot and another staff member came in to fit it. He was the only negative of the visit. Very abrupt and not friendly. Put the boot on me causing me to cry out in pain once or twice. Didn't give me directions as to how to put the boot on properly by myself. Didn't have me stand up from the wheelchair to get the feel of standing on it. The first time I put weight on it was going from wheelchair to car, and I panicked at the unusual balance and weight distribution. So, a little more TLC at the end would have been appreciated. Otherwise, very efficient and high quality care. read more

Where to begin.... I woke up one day and I was broken. It was very confusing to me, but I was referred to Excelsior Orthopaedics and have been having repairs done there ever since. All of them came as complete surprises as opposed to waiting for arthritis to get to the point where you need a knee replacement. I've had two surgeries on my hands followed by physical therapy. The physical therapy department was efficient with no long waits. The therapists all look so darn healthy and fit and we all look like we are duct taped together, but if we keep up the good work we can look like them too !!! That absolutely didn't happen to me but they did make my broken hands and knee work correctly. It was also always as fun as they could possibly make it. I tore my meniscus letting the dog out .... That's when I first met Dr Wilkins. He repaired the knee and has been taking care of it ever since. The care I have gotten has never been less than five star. I have continued to get shots in my knee and when it's time to get them , I contact them and the get everything taken care of and get me on the schedule as soon as possible. When my husband was having pain in his leg, and I called and explained his health situation, they scheduled him with Dr Wilkins within two days. We were taken to X-ray very efficiently and then to the Doctors office where he came to see us promptly. Dr Wilkins was extremely patient and an excellent listener. He took the time to explain what the problem was to him. Though he couldn't do anything to help in this situation he spent the time necessary until he understood what was wrong and how it would be healed. The entire staff I can honestly say is consistently pleasant, friendly and it's truly very rare that you have much of a wait. Their covid procedures are also well in place. Chairs have been removed throughout the building. The floors are well marked with the correct distances and plastic shields are up in front of the desks where you are working with the staff. Now I certainly don't wish anything to happen to anyone, but if you tear your meniscus letting your dog out , I really do recommend Excelsior. read more

After being in a car accident your whole world gets flipped around. It's so stressful. You want answers. You want to feel better. You want to feel like your doctor cares what happens to you. Today at my appointment I felt like I was just pushed to the next doctor which seems like what everyone is doing. No one treats you they just push you off on someone else. No problem at all with the dr and staff. All very nice and explained everything well. The chairs in the exam room was SO dirty! Fabric chairs should all be replaced. I work in a healthcare practice and we replaced fabric chairs years ago. read more
