My husband and I have been lucky enough to visit Excellence Playa Mujeres twice now--first for our honeymoon a few years back, and most recently to ring in the New Year. To be honest, we can't imagine spending New Year's Eve anywhere else. Both times have been absolutely fantastic; the team didn't skip a beat. The resort is stunning and impeccably maintained, but what truly makes this place a gem is its incredible team and vibrant atmosphere. Entertainment The entertainment is top-notch, with a variety of high-energy performances each night. We were absolutely blown away by the Freddie Mercury tribute act. The resemblance was uncanny, and his energy was simply amazing--he had the whole place rocking! It's shows like that that make the evenings so memorable. The Heart of the Resort: The Staff As wonderful as the resort itself is, the staff are the real reason we started planning our next trip back before we even left. They made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived and are the key to the entire experience. We spent most of our days at the Excellence Club pool, and our waiter, Floricel, was a true standout. He was wildly attentive and responsive, ensuring our glasses were never empty. He didn't just take orders; he helped us discover the most incredible new drinks and his fun, engaging personality truly made our days by the pool so much more enjoyable. Our concierges, Edgar and David, were unbelievably helpful. From the moment we arrived, they helped us navigate our time at the resort, making reservations and ensuring every detail was handled. Having a dedicated concierge team like them is so important; they remove all the stress of planning and make you feel completely prioritized and cared for throughout your entire stay. We truly felt like their only guests. We also have to give a shout-out to Cesar at the lobby bar. We were so impressed that he recognized us from our previous trip, and of course, we remembered him! He is exceptionally attentive, and man, that guy is fast. He's a true professional. Last but certainly not least, a special mention goes to the man running the pizza oven at the main pool. He deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for his craft. He was just killing it all day, every day, serving up perfect pizzas with a smile. It's this level of service and genuine warmth from the staff that makes Excellence Playa Mujeres feel like a home away from home. We came back home so refreshed and can't wait to return. read more

I visited Cancun for the first time, and I'm so glad I stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres. Our stay was for 7 days in a Junior Suite with the Excellence Club upgrade. Excellence Club: The upgrade gives you perks that, in my opinion, are worth the splurge. You get a private beach area, a private pool, exclusive access to the Magna restaurant, and a lounge bar. In your room, they add fresh flowers, sparkling wine, and an upgraded mini bar. You also get a different room service menu and a hydrotherapy session per person. Staff: Absolutely every staff member gave us phenomenal service. Many returning guests said the staff is why they came back. Some other resorts are more technologically advanced, but Excellence is top tier for its service. Someone is always checking in, and anything you need is taken care of right away. Pools/Beach: There are several pools, including a main pool with a swim-up bar. I called this the party area because it has music and afternoon activities/games. My favorite spot to lounge was near the "lazy river" across from the ping pong and billiards. This area is quieter, and they also have some day beds available. People get up EARLY to save the day beds and the lounge chairs. One morning, I headed down just before 8 AM, and there were only two day beds left. People leave towels, bags, or books to save space. The resort does not allow this, but it's difficult to enforce because you can't tell if someone is away swimming or grabbing a snack somewhere. Be a nice human, and don't save a space for three hours while you're up in your room sleeping. The beach also has a lot of lounge chairs and day beds. I've visited the beach in the morning and in the afternoon around 1 PM and was able to snag a lounge chair. Both pool and beach areas are very well attended! There is someone going around every 10 - 20 minutes checking in on you to see if you need water, drinks, or food. Restaurants/Food: It is impossible to absolutely kill all food categories at a resort. I'm going to be honest, the American food was not it. I wasn't a fan of cheeseburgers, wings, or pizza. However, there were some restaurants and food items that stood out to me. For breakfast, you can't go wrong with the Kitchen Table. It's a brunch buffet, and my go-to was the made-to-order omelets, chilaquiles, and French toast. The freshly squeezed orange juice was amazing, AND be sure to order a cappuccino instead of their regular coffee. For lunch, I highly recommend the fish tacos at Lobster House or the agua chiles and the crunchy salmon tacos from Olas. You get a great view of the beach while you eat, and it's a great vibe. One of our favorite dinners was the interactive dining at Spice. This does require a reservation, and I recommend making this reservation when you check in. It's a teppanyaki-style dinner, and you're in a separate room with 10 people total. It's very intimate, and all the courses were delicious. Our favorite post-dinner hangout was at the Sports Bar. They have a small pool table and will likely have a game that you're looking to catch while you enjoy a beer or cocktail. Aroma was our go-to for our morning coffee and our nightly ice cream scoop before heading to our room. Their iced hazelnut coffee was excellent, and I loved their lemon sorbet. You also cannot go wrong with the 24/7 room service. Experiences/Show: Download the Excellence Collection app. You'll use it every day for entertainment schedules and restaurant menus and dress codes. There are daily fitness offerings like yoga, pickleball, volleyball, or Zumba and activities like Sip Wine & Paint and Cantarito painting on the beach. Some events have limited spots, so arrive early. Every Thursday is the Mexican Fiesta with mariachi and a huge buffet (and a ton of margaritas), so it's a great time. Shows we loved were the Burlesque, Elegance Circo, and the Magic Show. Seasons Transfer: If you stay 7 days, you get a free airport pick-up and drop-off. Seasons provided great instructions, and finding our driver was easy. The vehicle was comfortable with room for six. Our return trip felt hectic because of an accident that caused major traffic. We still made the flight, but I recommend requesting an earlier pick-up time just in case. Junior Suite: I still think about this bed. I took a picture of the mattress brand because I want one at home. The pillows were perfect, and they gave us four. The couch wasn't comfortable, and the TV options were limited. I wish there was a Netflix login option. I'm hoping this is part of the hotel renovation. There's a tub near the window we didn't use, but it was a nice option. The ocean-view balcony was 10/10. The bathroom has a glass door, so not super private, but the shower was huge with a rainfall head. Closet space was great, and the robes and slippers got daily use. Overall, I was very happy with our stay. It's worth the money, and I felt like I was in an episode of White Lotus when they greeted us with champagne. read more

My stay at Excellence Playa Mujeres was absolutely incredible. We upgraded to the excellence club package. The added perks like the private beach area, exclusive pools, upgraded room amenities, and personalized service made the experience feel even more special. I was very impressed by the food, which exceeded my expectations for an all-inclusive resort. Every restaurant we tried was delicious, but my personal favorite was Magna. We were also told that the lobster house does not serve lobster tails from march to June due to them being out of season. The entertainment was also enjoyable, with live music, themed shows, and fun evening activities that kept the resort lively. Our favorite show was the legends show! They have many pools to choose from with some being more calm and others more being more social. We spent a lot of time at main pool 1, and johnatan was an amazing bartender! Beautiful day! The staff here is always willing and eager to make sure your state is the best. Very easy to get around the area. Plenty of bars to get your favorite beverage. Outstanding multiple venues to eat at. They all offer something special, all of the food is excellent. You will never have a bad meal. The table top grill is the best place for breakfast due to its wide variety. You can order poolside for food. Sometimes it does take a while to get it. The main large pool is heated. Had a lovely, relaxing vacation at Excellence Playa Mujeres in early October with a group of friends! Overall, the food was surprisingly decent for an all inclusive experience, and certain restaurants/ menu items were better than others. The best dinners we had were at Agave, Basmati, and the special Mexican Buffet that happens once a week. We did not like Chez Isabelle. The Teppanyaki at Spice is the only dinner that requires a reservation, which I recommend for a fun experience and filling meal. For lunch we liked Las Olas and the soup and appetizers at Lobster House (the main courses here weren't great). For breakfast, I only tried the buffet, which I felt had some good options. It's convenient that they had a daily schedule of activities, though some of them felt lacking. The best activities were karaoke, silent disco, and paint and sip. But the real highlight was hanging out in the pools and on the beach. Servers are frequently stopping by whenever you need drinks or snacks. I recommend booking a massage at the spa! The 75 minute massage comes with a hydrotherapy session beforehand, which was a nice bonus. I got a Swedish massage from Patricia, who was fantastic. Service was excellent during our entire stay! They clean your room twice a day (the second time also has turndown service) and refill the mini bar daily. I loved my room, and it was so nice to have my own jacuzzi in the room! Good in room dining with table service. Love the day bed in the balcony. You can also book the first floor with access to the pool from your room. Avoid: Management instructed me to wait, then denied my injury claim I am writing this to warn future guests about the lack of safety and accountability at Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres. During my stay in late October 2025, I sustained a severe vertical root fracture (tooth #4) from biting into hard, burnt food grain in a meal provided by the resort. I reported the injury immediately to staff and spoke directly with management (Adolfo de la Torre). I was explicitly instructed by management to wait until I returned home to pursue a resolution. I followed their instructions in good faith, providing dental X-rays and professional diagnoses from my dentist in the U.S. confirming the trauma. After stalling for months, the corporate office has now issued a final denial of liability, effectively using the delay they requested as a way to avoid responsibility for my medical costs. I am appalled by the lack of concern for guest safety and the dishonest way this was handled. If you value your safety and expect a resort to stand behind their service when an accident occurs, look elsewhere. Well, I just learned I should have listened to my mother in law TEN YEARS AGO!!! My husband and I went to EPM for our 10th Anniversary in October and it was absolutely magical. We were treated like royalty the entire time. I don't think I can capture all of the great things in a normal narrative style so I'll do a Tip List instead... Tips: Travel- You can book direct to get a free airport transfer, but we priced it out and it was cheaper for us to pay for private round trip transfer through Seasons Transfers (which is the company the resort uses anyway) Don't bother with the gift shop unless you're desperate for an essential item they have. Duty free at the airport is way less expensive... Like less than half. Rooms- I'm really glad we upgraded to a swim out suite, but you may want to bring sticky notes to tell housekeeping that you're in the pool so they don't lock you out, lol There is no bidet. If that is an essential for you, come prepared with an alternative to that. Food - Check the schedule because not every restaurant is open every day. We missed out on a couple restaurants because we didn't plan properly. Magna has the best food overall, but it's only for guests with the Excellence Club upgrade. You don't have to go with Excellence Club to get a top notch experience. Che Isabelle's food as fancy as Magna and the restaurant is fancier and the Martini bar in the lobby makes a mean Espresso Martini. If you do hibachi at Spice, you can't get stuff from the sushi menu and the sushi menu has delicious food I wouldn't want to miss (Bulgogi, spring rolls, dumplings, etc ). Don't be afraid of Basmati, embrace it, love it, everything there is delicious. I was worried about it at first because we have excellent Indian restaurants near home (Metro Detroit) and it didn't smell like the distinct blend of spices I am normally greeted by when entering my local spot, but it was fantastic. My only complaint is that their chairs are really uncomfortable. I have a big ol' caboose so most chairs aren't exactly clouds, but my tiny bottomed husband agreed, they're the worst chairs in the resort. We didn't care for the breakfast buffet at Kitchen Table (Agave & Basmati) so we had breakfast at Lobster House most days. We both agreed that chilaquiles or eggs rancheros are the best breakfasts outside of Magna. Fish tacos at Oregono, seriously so good!!! Activities - Aqua Fun is a great way to get your body moving and feeling better with all the food and drinks you'll be having. Handicrafts to Share is a nice way to spend an hour and it fills up most of the days it is offered. You get to make a bracelet in the pagoda on the beach and it's nice to have a reminder of your amazing vacation that you can wear. My fiancé asked for directions to the tennis court and was escorted to courts...at the neighboring resort. He had to get a ride back. That was awkward as all hell. As an additional note, if you book through a third party website, it can be unclear that the fees are different for 1 vs. 2 people staying in the same room. I've been to excellence Playa Mujeres multiple times, and it never disappoints. The entire staff is so friendly and accommodating, they bend over backwards to make every single person in the resort feel welcome. Favorite restaurants are always Basmati and Las Olas, and the staff at the restaurants are always just as amazing. Also participated in some fun events this time, bag painting and the guacamole workshop. Thanks to the entire event staff, and specifically Jesus, who is perfect at his job! Excellence Resort is a beautiful property that checks almost every box. The grounds are lush and immaculate, the beach is stunning with clear turquoise water, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and designed for comfort. It really feels like a luxury escape the moment you arrive. Service was consistently excellent. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything felt effortless whether it was by the pool, at the beach, or in the room. This place is very nice and vast. First we got pick up at the airport there's 8 people on our group with different reservation and was put in different pick up van... Took 40-45min from the airport to the resort... Then when we got drop off we were welcomed by the bell desk team got our luggage down, some refreshing wet towels for our faces then was turn to a desk with some champagne waiting for us and ticket for the luggage.. Then we went straight to the front desk, as the first couple in the group we were first to check in, and the person who was checking us in said room was ready and then she offered if we want a suite? So we're like yeah that would be great she just wait at the lobby for a bit... then after 10-15min she said she's still checking on the upgrade she said go have some lunch for now... so we did... Then our group start arriving but rooms where not available yet because their suite is not ready yet, so we all ate together and came back to the front desk at 2:45. When everyone check in EVERYONE after us got the upgrade BESIDES us the first one who checked and I'm like wait what? We end up not getting the upgrade that we were willing to pay for but everyone after us got the free upgrade? And I'm like how did that happened? I had a feeling while we were all waiting everyone mentioned that they were all waiting for a suite while us were waiting for just a room and maybe a suite. At that point I was already pissed. And the front desk were not really knowledgeable I'm not sure if she's new but she just didn't know. Anyways she made us wait for 1 1/2 hour for nothing and end up getting a regular room. My point was don't offer a suite that you don't have or sure have then give all the 4 other suite to the people after us. It's upsetting. The room was nice and spacious Even it's not a suite or pool or 2 floors. Because this is an all inclusive resort please bring a lot of $1 for tipping if you or do money exchange. We didn't had a chance to try 3-4 Resto because we're busy. But we enjoyed the different events they had in the resort. For example concert, painting, dance lesson etc... Besides the bad check in it's a nice place to stay at, everything is week kept from the room to the garden etc. Everyone is very nice besides the front desk and the host at the lobster restaurant they need a little bit more customer server training. The resort is so huge the pool and beach is a little walk to the from that were in but that's alright. The sand is so fine and our resort area they kept the sand clean and they will be taking it make sure that there's nothing sharp to be step on. The cabanas are really nice to take a nap they have volleyball as well. They provide towel and the drinks just keeps coming, having your own cup helps to just pour it in as you order or just for hydration everyone we order a drink we order bottled waters the room comes with bottles drinks as well and if your service the room they replenish it. We've been here in 2017 and then again in 2019. First time back post Scamdemic. It's a 4.5 hour flight non stop but it's worth it. The Excellence is stunning. Sure, there's the first day, don't like the room, we want something better kind of stuff, but that is a common theme with me, but other than that the Excellence is one of the nicest resorts we've been too, actually Hotel Ziva in Puerto Vallarta all I can compare it to ( Mexican resorts ). The grounds are immaculate. The food is amazing, I am not certain who anyone can complain? Bismati and Lobster house always stand out for us. Staff is the best, always get into the Excellence Club if you can, I'll show a few pics of the view from our room. December is a great time to go, first couple days cloudy and chilly with the breeze on the beach, but you have great drinks and big warm brown towels to bundle up with. The rest of the time was sunny, but in the mid 70s, get your tan comfortably. My skin seems to bronze to a Lucious golden hue in Mexican resorts, moreover at the Excellence. The resort itself, the location and view are definitely top notch. The service is great as well. Our room with a private pool and hot jacuzzi were absolutely worth it. The only negatives I would say of the place is the food. It's just okay. Some restaurants were pretty good while others were flat out bad. The Hibachi was good but the actual asian restaurant was not. The Indian restaurant was probably our favorite. The drinks were mostly good, but not amazing. read more

Blown away by the amazing service and quality provided here. Pros: excellent dining at many of the restaurants, great service at various bars/restaurants/activities, they have given a lot of thought to little amenities/services that helped a lot (i.e., laundry line in bathroom, slippers in room, their app (use it!!!), etc). Cons: evening show volume was pretty loud, bathroom privacy in suite is limited. We loved Basmati, Agave and Lobster House. Service, food and ambiance were outstanding. Our server chose dishes for the table at Basmati and Agave and we loved all of the recommendations and many of us tried things we wouldn't have normally ordered (ceviche). Good coffee and pastries at Aroma, too. Buffet at Kitchen Table was huge with so many offerings (omelet station, pastries, juices, fruit, yogurt, cheese, pre-made dishes, etc) - all of it pretty good. We had big hopes for The Grill and Chez Isabelle but it was a little underwhelming. Quality of steak (ribeye) was low - lots of gristle. Heard the picanha and tenderloin were better. But, the empanadas and peanut butter cake were to die for. Chez Isabelle took longer than our normal dining time (average dining was 1.5-2 hrs for 6 of us) - it seemed they forgot to put in our entree order. We were told it would be a couple minutes and then we waited another 25 min+ for our dinners. By the time it came, it was warm but not hot. It progressively got darker too and they kept the lights dimmed pretty low. Some of the bars can get backed up before/after the nightly shows but the staff did great to keep up with everyone. Great selection of drinks - some mid level shelf stuff but most of the cocktails on the menu are made with rail unless specified. Also, some cocktails aren't available at all bars so just be aware of that if you find one you like. Good house wine selection (sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, merlot and cabernet). Our room was comfortable and we loved the turn down service. Sometimes we wouldn't get bar service in our room to replace waters/snacks but the staff did great with everything else in our rooms. Also, there isn't a full door to the toilet - the shower and toilet have their own areas with frosted glass doors that don't go all the way down as it's an open concept so there isn't much privacy. The shows were great, if a little loud, with very talented performers. After you get over the shaking from the noise, you can enjoy the entertainment quite a bit! Loved the silent dance parties!! Also really liked the smaller group sessions - bike ride (pretty short and easy ride), and crafts (bracelets and popsocket beading). The staff were attentive, friendly and engaged. Heard some people griping about little things (pool temp) but you can tell the staff really try hard to deliver. We saw people EVERY day cleaning every inch of this place (buffing statues, wiping down garbage cans with a magic eraser, mopping floors). We stayed with them a year and a half ago and fell in love with the was beautiful, clean, and the staff was amazing so we decided to rebook summer of 2025 to Travel travel in March 2026. However, with the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Mexico just a week and a half before we are due to arrive we felt our safety would be in grave danger! So we have called and requested a refund After speaking with one of the representatives, he was very cold and not very nice and extremely direct. Refusing to do anything about a refund and only given us two other options, being an unsafe area with the and the other costing us twice as to go to Jamaica I was incredibly disheartened that they were refusing to do anything since this was out of our control. with war breaking out in Americans Being targeted, I would've thought that this would have been much more to do something to accommodate us. the only other thing I was offered was to push the date out, and because they chose to raise rates, they are given us a much lesser of a room for the same price. . we originally had a swim up suite club, level- And they want to put us in an view, floors ! I'm incredibly upset and frustrated with this I would've expected much more out of them being a five star adults only now we are out $6500 because we choose not to put our life in danger because of what's going on in their country they be greedy and keep our money read more

I am grateful for another amazing trip to Excellence Playa Mujeres. You can't help but be relaxed by all of the pampering. Although everyone was great there are definitely some team members who stand out. Virgilio was our server at the main pool and was kind, attentive - and remembered me from a previous trip before I even realized it. You don't get that attention to detail just anywhere. We also had the treat of getting the amazing watermelon "SanDelicious" drink from Emiliano on our first day when we were at one of the adjacent pools. I will be thinking about that until I return and hunting him down to get another one when I return. Anyi anticipated our drink requests before we were even thirsty again when she was our server the first day. They make you feel like you're not a bother at all. For meals I made special trips to the buffet to see Tonatueh because we see him every visit and he always welcomes us back. At the Grill Antonio was perfect. So professional and lots of smiles as he helped us make our choices. And of course Cesar always delivers with the martinis before dinner. We saw the Queen show on this trip and it's the closest to Freddie Mercury performing that I can imagine. This is my 7th or 8th visit and I always leave looking forward to my next visit. read more

My overall stay at The Excellence Resort, Playa Mujeres was ok. The swim up bar (Blue Bar) had two FANTASTIC bar tenders; Eduardo Garcia made the most refreshing and on point mojitos during my stay. All of my trips here are fabulous but this one as the best thanks to Jacqueline Zacarias - the guest service manager. She checked in routinely and seemed to generally care how my experience was. I were with friends who were visiting for the first time and they definitely noticed the special attention she gave and that the customer service was above and beyond. Marlon and Donoteo assisted me with my luggage and remembered me from previous visits and both asked how my mother and sister were doing and said "hello". It's details like this that matter. Emiliano is my favorite server by the pool. Sadly we only got to see him one day. He's the best at suggesting and making drinks and brought me my favorite drink before I even ordered it. Juan was our waiter for 3 of our mornings at the Kitchen Table. The service was impeccable- he was refilling our coffees and mimosas before we even had a chance to ask for another. We wound up relaxing at breakfast a little longer than planned because it was so relaxing. I was happy to see Virgilio at Prelude. He is always so sweet and kind and it's nice to see his smiling face. He goes out of his way to say hello. And no trip is complete without seeing Cesar for a martini before dinner. He is a staple at Excellence and I look forward to his concoctions and smile when we're there. read more

Hands down my favorite all inclusive! I've been coming here for 8 years and look forward to my yearly trip. Service is amazing!! And the food and drinks are great for all inclusive. Expect the food to not be Michelin quality but it's very enjoyable! My friend and I came for a girls trip and were probably the only non-couple there. The pool was nice, the floats are limited so bring your own and a straw. There were rude people who took the floats out of the pool with them and even took them to their rooms so no one else could use them. Chez Isabelle was our favorite restaurant and next was Grille. The escargot at Isabelle was amazing and so was the steak. We did not care for Agave. The Lobster House is limited for lunch and stay away from the restaurant on the beach. Get to dinner at 6:00 when they open or you might have to wait up to an hour some nights. Hibachi can be skipped and you need a reservation any ways. Go on the 9:00 bike ride, it was very informative and a decent ride. The MJ Show was great but the circus show was just okay and we left. Not much entertainment during the day or night. There is a sports bar but it stayed pretty empty at times. Wish they had more activities besides one show a night. read more

I have visited this resort twice, and twice I have had issues with the hotel transportation (Seasons) on my way out. I love this resort, I would recommend a stay here, I do not recommend booking transportation with them (Seasons). Summer 2024- the hotel gladly took our payment for transportation. This transportation, however did not show up, on our way out. By the time that we sorted this out and found alternate transportation, we left the hotel 2 hrs before our international flight. The airport which is 30-40 min away... Fortunately, we had priority check-in and did not have to wait in a line, otherwise, we would have missed our flight. They said they will reimburse us, that remains to be seen. Summer 2023- the booking said transportation was included. They failed to mention, that said transportation would only pick up one guest, as our flights arrived at different times. So we paid ($100) for transportation. Upon check out, the hotel said I owed $100 for transportation, at which point, I presented them with my receipt. They did not care for my receipt, and said I had to go down stairs and sort it out with Seasons. Seasons was, of course, closed. Fortunately, I did not have a flight to catch, otherwise I would have likely missed it, and would have been gorged to pay the $100, and hoped to be reimbursed. I waited an hour for Seasons to open. Turns out someone did not hand write it in the notebook. After multiple phone calls back and forth phone calls between the drivers, Seasons, and the lobby- i was finally allowed to cjeck out. We got married at EMP and everything at this resort screams luxurious, relaxing, and a good time! Staff were super friendly and great! We stay for 5 nights and enjoyed this all inclusive resort so much! They make you feel VIP and treat you like royalty! It's such a nice pampering resort with everything you need. 24/7 room service. We love all of the restaurants and food except the Spice. Lobster, steaks, calamari, French food, lamb chops, French onion soup... you name, it's there! Alcohol Drinks all included. There is a cafe where you can get amazing juices and coffee! If you stay 3 nights you get free transport included in your room with season touring transportation company. Season touring was great and provided us round trip from the airport and resort. We felt completely safe. After booking your room, you will get an email from the resort to book you transfer through season. You provide the flight details and they will provide you the time when they will pick you up from the resort to the airport. Super easy process. This resort is serious the best all inclusive resort we been to! We can't wait to return soon!! Do I recommend this place? 100000000000000000 yes! You haven't lived life until you visit this resort! Excellence Playa Mujeres I made the mistake of booking flights and the resort. I booked through "Vacations by Excellence" which is really just Expedia. Once you get a real person on the phone, which I promise you is a hard thing to do, they will both tell you that booking agent is not apart of the Excellence brand. I have had multiple conversations and emails back and forth with "Vacations by Excellence" and the resort with no success. Expedia and the resort have had correspondences, that took more than their allotted 72 hours, only to tell me that everything is denied, no refunds. I've heard great things about the resort just hope you don't have any problems because you're not going to get any help from the any of the Excellence "brands. I have yet to make it to the resort, all of these issues have happened the same day that the reservations were made and I was made aware that Excellence and Vacations by Excellence are two separate business entities with no affiliation except the name. After looking online I see that this is a common theme and one that they benefit from so all I can do is post this so that the next person makes better choices than I did. This is the Excellence Playa Mujeres resort north of Cancun. It's wonderful. We had a great week here and look forward to returning. This resort is adults only in a beautiful Cancun beach setting. It's well maintained and the staff is super at assisting you with whatever you might need. My restaurant assessment: The Grill was excellent. Excellent food, excellent service. The Kitchen table. Breakfasts we're exceptional. Creative food and lots of it from omelets, sushi, garlic bread, sausages, several different potatoes, great guacamole, rich coffee, and on and on. Las Olas: a snack bar. You can menu order or you can serve yourself. Food is very good - Ask for habanero sauce for more kick. Best pizza at the resort! Oregano: delicious. The shrimp, scallop risotto was our favorite dish during the stay. Open air to the beach, gorgeous view. Nice place! Flavor Market. We really liked it. Small portions of a plethora of various dishes, all great. Some with a nice kick! Awesome! Chez Isabelle: the French restaurant. It's not our favorite. Escargot was served in a pastry shell instead of the hard shells, other foods just ok. Wear shoes not sandals or go back to your room to get them. The lobster House. We only did lunch so maybe dinner is better. For lunch, very limited seafood. Lots of vegetarian options. Open air to the beach, gorgeous view. Basimidi: 20 min wait while most tables are open. Appetizer came with 2 chips. Very loud, can't hear anything, we were put between 2 party tables. Took food 1.5 hours for food to be served. Everything was amazing at this resort. Josue at the building 7 pool was the most helpful person in the world. Also Yeiudiel (not sure of spelling) on the beach was great. I love the policy of no reserving of beach cabanas - makes it fair for everyone. We never had to wait in any lines and got to de stress the entire week. This is just for their wedding department in their new resort Excellent Coral Playa Mujeres. If you're planning on having your wedding here I would think again. We have chosen Excellence because of its great reputation but its been very frustrating. Wedding planning doesn't actually start till 3-4 months till your actual wedding day, it takes the hotel wedding coordinator / manager to response to your email about 3-4 weeks at a time or maybe more the last time we heard from her was September 12. On her previous email she said 72 hours response time, but this was definitely not the case. We are in the last few days before our wedding date and we still haven't heard from her. We tried calling the resort and every time the call is transferred to the wedding department the call would drop. We did their live chat on their website and were told that the wedding department doesn't take calls and all they can do is send an urgent message. The outside vendor fee is $1500 per service, per company and that's if they get approved or are able to get a hold of the wedding department to finish up paperwork. We were told that the buffet they offered on the wedding package is restricted to a minimum of 30 ppl count even though it stated that it was a minimum of 20 ppl on the app they have sent us . We were never clarified if this was just a misunderstanding or given any clarification because she still has not replied. We have email multiple times to different email addresses given to us from their social media account but still nothing. Their in house designer velvet event design has been great and has been on top of everything. We can not finalize anything because we haven't been able to get a hold of the wedding department. They also have locked us out of their wedding planning app so we can't proceed on anything. So if you're thinking of choosing EXCELLENCE CORAL PLAYA MUJERES for your destination wedding know that it will come with not knowing if your wedding is actually going to happen. read more

Had a great time staying here with my 2 besties! This was our first all inclusive experience and it was a great one. I spoke with other people at the resort and heard more than once that it was their favorite all inclusive stay yet. There were numerous activities daily to participate in and numerous restaurants to eat at. I recommend the pool aerobics they have. Not typically something I would go for but we had such a fun time dancing in the pool. I was impressed by the fire show and the casino night was a good time. The beach was beautiful once you got past the initial seaweed smell. The resort did a great job cleaning and shoveling it away. I meet people on the beach that walked by to enjoy the view since their hotel didn't do the same. read more

This was our 1st vacation in 2 years so we wanted to go to a place to be pamper and relax. Stayed for 1 week at Excellence Playa Mujeres and truly enjoyed our time. Resort: Check in was smooth and you're taken to another area if you're part of the Excellence club. Manuel helped us and he was very friendly and nice. I did not like the first room in the 7 buildings and he was able to get me switch the next day. Our room 9358 was great, had nicer view of the ocean and quieter then the 7 buildings. Would recommend the 9 or 8 building for the ocean views. The resort has a clean and comfortable decor, very spacious rooms (we splurged with an ocean view and excellence club), and plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Restaurants: Our favorite was Magna, Chez Isabelle, and Toscana. Magna and Chez offer nice steak if you are craving red meat but also have other options. Toscana had the biggest portions and the pasta and margarita pizza was yummy for lunch. The food in Spice was a bit too sweet for my taste and the tapas at The Flavor Market was bland. All menus are on the app so you will need to have your phone with you to order. Bars: they have many different bars located throughout the resort. Most make their drinks on the light and sweeter side. May want to add an extra shot for the nice kick. By far our favorite was The Excellence Lounge. Only place where we found premium alcohol. Jorge the bartender is a delight. Literally had my drink ready before I order and came over to refill my martini before I even ask. His service was really amazing. We also frequented Aroma for the coffees and bite side treats. The workers in Aroma are alway very lovely. Rooms: Are very spacious with little touch of details such as slippers and welcome flowers that make you feel special. Only complain would have to be the toilet or more specific the door. It's glass with the center frosted. That leaves portions in the edge completely clear and it's not a full door to the ceiling /floor so you hear and possibly see more then you like. Even as a married couple I'm sure there are certain instances where privacy is necessary. Spa: If you like strong deep tissue massage you will be in good hands at their spa. Ignacia & Amparo (1st visit) and Ingrid & Yasmin (2nd time) really worked out a lot of the stress we were holding. The hydrotherapy usually comes with the massage 75 min and up will include you following a set routine of shower, steam room ice/hot tub, and hydro massage. It ends with a short neck and head massage all done outside. It's a nice relaxer to get you ready for the main event. Service: Most of the staff we came across were lovely. We are usually greeted us with a smile. Two exceptional staff we want to acknowledge is Ruby our cocktail server at the beach and Lorena from Magna. Both provided exceptional services and took the time to get to know us. We were always greeted like friends and they were both so genuine. Both ladies took time out to get to know us and made our stay there more special. Overall: this is a place to come to when you are looking for relaxation and good service. If you are looking to party and dance the night away there are better options. Shows, music, and performances are done by 11:00 pm the latest. There's also not a "club/lounge" area to go dancing. young couple here! 22 & 23 years old celebrating our 1 year anniversary and this trip was truly more than we could have ever imagined. we stayed in the junior suite swim up room and it was beyond perfect for us. the staff was seriously exceptional. the food and drinks were top tier and the location is absolutely to die for. we are extremely happy with our stay and we will 100% be back. the most relaxed and happy we've ever been. the food was delicious (we're big foodies and enjoyed everything we ate here) and the drinks were great. the room service was also extremely good and 24/7! We visited the Mille spa for a couples massage and it was so relaxing and unique. everything was magical, seriously. spotless and stunning and... excellent! definitely not an exaggeration being called the "excellence." we will be talking about this trip for the rest our our lives. much love read more
