We stayed in a spacious, comfortable Junior Suite with an ocean view. It was impeccably clean, with a well-designed bathroom featuring a separate shower, toilet area, and corner soaking tub. The room temperature remained comfortable throughout our stay. The resort has an impressive selection of restaurants, with easy-to-secure reservations. Although we stayed five days, we couldn't try them all. Food and service were excellent throughout. The two large pools are located on opposite sides of the resort: one lively and one dedicated to relaxation. Both remained relatively calm, with plenty of chairs and cabanas available. The relaxation pool has no DJ or pool games, making it especially peaceful. The spa was a 10/10 experience. Although the resort is large enough to require a map for navigating its three main buildings, everything was well organized and easy to find. As an adults-only property, the resort offered a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. We met several guests who had returned five to ten times, and after our stay, I completely understand why. I'll definitely be back.

Late Post! 2/2026…read more Check-in was easy. They gave us bracelets that had a tiny metal disc that worked as a key to get in our room. Make sure you keep it on when you leave the resort. We were behind a group that did not have their bracelets, and they were asked to pull over to the side while the hotel confirmed they were all guests. The resort is huge, and everyone was getting lost even though there is a physical map as well as an interactive map on their app. But after day one, we got the hang of the layout. We wanted to visit Isla Mujeres, and the concierge gave us instructions and ferry departure times. I highly recommend the trip if you are staying here. We had a blast. I don't recall all the restaurants that we tried, but the steak and lobster dinner was a standout. I didn't think mole had any business on my filet mignon, but I was mistaken! The staff was amazing. Every request and every question was returned with a smile and a hand to their heart. This resort is one of the better all-inclusive adult resorts that we have had the pleasure of staying at.

Came here for a large wedding party during the holiday weekend…read more Pre-booked the free SUV transport which was amazing when we landed and left. Both drivers were professional and safe. This was a big plus for us. The room I booked was a two story with a balcony and small pool on the roof. I was asked if I wanted an ocean view and access to better liquor and restaurants checking in for around $250 extra a night. I went for it, but I didn't see a return on this as I hoped to. It was a beautiful room with a partial ocean view- I wonder if it would've been the same had I just not done the upgrade. The elevator was broken to our building and the exclusive restaurant we had access to so that was absolutely awful when I fell ill in the heat. The pressure to purchase bottles of wine rather than drinking a glass for free was clear and we felt very awkward. The food at magna wasn't good either. But the rest of the places- especially oregano and the coffee bar were great. Everyone who worked there was kind and warm. The pools all close early, so having a pool on our roof was nice. The wedding was beautiful and after party was a blast. Highly recommend in that regard. Access to beach was nearby and walkable, and the sand was nice. I expected more from purchasing the upgraded package and I didn't like being pressured to buy $300+ bottle of wine at dinner. I hated that the elevators were broken in our building and dinner. But the rest was good.

I really wanted to love Excellence Oyster Bay, Montego Bay because we chose it months in advance to…read morecelebrate our anniversary. I'll start with the positives because there were definitely some. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. The scenery is breathtaking and picture-perfect, making it one of the most visually stunning resorts we've visited. Unfortunately, that's where our excellent experience largely ended. One of the biggest issues appears to be that the resort's reservations and booking process is not managed on-site, (we were advised it was managed in Mexico) which created several unnecessary problems throughout our stay. Before arrival, we even received an email confirming our room that addressed us by someone else's last name. Upon check-in, we were informed our room would not be ready and were given "Black Card" status as compensation, which was explained as including special upgrades and benefits. However, during our stay we learned that many of those benefits were either unavailable or could not be redeemed, and several staff members didn't seem to understand what the Black Card actually included. When we finally got to our room, there was no hot water in the shower. Thankfully, after contacting the front desk, maintenance responded promptly and resolved the issue. Service throughout the resort was inconsistent. While there were a few employees who truly stood out and deserve recognition, the overall restaurant service fell well below what I expect from a luxury, adults-only all-inclusive resort. I especially want to recognize: * Antoinette, the hostess at Caribbean Grove, who was warm and welcoming. * Deonique, who provided excellent beach service. * Latifah, who took great care of us at the pool. Their professionalism and kindness were highlights of our trip. We also dined at Spice after making reservations. We met some wonderful people there, and Chef OJ was entertaining and made the experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, the table service again was slow and underwhelming. Our biggest frustration came at the end of our stay. The evening before checkout, we asked about extending our reservation and were told we had to wait until business hours because the resort could not process reservation changes on-site. The following morning, we went to the front desk near checkout after waiting for our anniversary breakfast room service--which arrived about 30 minutes late and came with its own service issues. The front desk staff tried to help but explained they had to contact another department for approval. We waited another 30 minutes without receiving an answer. I then tried calling and using the online chat myself, only to be placed on hold and eventually disconnected. Throughout our stay, the guest services phone line was nearly impossible to reach--it remained busy for two consecutive days. While the front desk staff were courteous and did everything they could, they simply didn't have the authority to resolve many issues because decisions were handled elsewhere. Overall, Excellence Oyster Bay has an incredible location and beautiful grounds, but the operational and service issues prevented it from feeling like the luxury experience we expected for our anniversary. For a resort carrying the Excellence name and price point, I expected seamless customer service, knowledgeable staff, and better communication between departments. I left wishing the service had matched the beauty of the property.

If you like a quiet and relaxing vacation with a gorgeous beach, this resort is for you! If you are looking for constant entertainment, music or activities, this may not work for you. It is a new hotel located north of Cancun. It is beautifully decorated with a boho feel to it with a jungle and beach feel. All staff that we encountered was friendly, attentive and happy to answer any questions. Check in was fast and preferred was a nice addition. The private pool, lounge and beach access are a nice perk, to be able to be stress free at the hotel. Plenty of dining options and our favorite was the French restaurant. If you want a relaxing vacation with a gorgeous white sand and blue water beach, consider this newer resort.

We booked this trip through Costco Travel and chose the all-inclusive package, which specifically…read moreincluded gratuities. We paid approximately $17,000 for this vacation, so it was disappointing that throughout the resort there were several instances where staff seemed to be expecting additional tips, creating an awkward atmosphere. I understand that some employees may not have known our package included gratuities, but it still left us feeling uncomfortable. We have previously stayed at Secrets Akumal and Secrets The Vine, and both experiences were exceptional. We love the Secrets brand and were excited to try this property. The resort itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and very clean. Some staff members were genuinely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the level of service was inconsistent throughout our stay, and we encountered multiple situations where staff members were unhelpful, unfriendly, or simply rude. As Preferred Club guests, we checked in through the Preferred Lounge. One of our rooms had a significant mosquito problem. When I asked the Preferred concierge if anything could be done, I was repeatedly told there was nothing they could do. Only after I continued to press the issue was I told the room could be fumigated. The concierge took down the requested date and time, but when we followed up the next day, no one had any record of the request, and we had to start the process all over again. The food experience was also inconsistent. Our first dinner at El Patio was excellent, but when we returned another evening, much of the food was overcooked and dry. One of the cocktails we ordered was noticeably missing sweetness. We knew this because we had been ordering the same drink throughout the resort. When we politely mentioned it to our server, he repeatedly insisted nothing was wrong with it. My husband suggested it might simply need more syrup. Instead of taking the drink back to have it corrected, the server brought a bottle of syrup to the table. His demeanor throughout the interaction was cold and dismissive. Another disappointing experience occurred on our final morning. My parents went to Market Café for breakfast by themselves and sat patiently for quite some time without anyone taking their drink order. My mother eventually approached a server to ask for assistance. That employee spoke with the server assigned to their section, but no one ever came to the table. My mother had to seek help a second time before receiving service. Ironically, near the end of the meal, the assigned server finally appeared and asked how everything was. The entire situation felt bizarre and completely avoidable. These experiences were surprising because they are not what we have come to expect from the Secrets brand or from a five-star resort. We don't know whether the service issues were related to the fact that gratuities were already included in our package or if there were other factors involved. We would have gladly tipped additional staff members for exceptional service if gratuities had not already been included. While the property itself is beautiful, the inconsistent service significantly impacted our overall experience. Unfortunately, based on this stay, we would not return to this resort.

There are pros and cons to this resort. I think the experience really is per person/family because…read morelots of reviews seem to differ. I liked my stay in the beginning, but closer to the end I wasn't so impressed. Leading up, their Instagram page and the online website really hype up the place. We chose this location for our Babymoon with our first child (1.5 yrs old). I'm 5 months pregnant so the variety of food, pools, and fun for little one was a big appeal. Resort & staff: The resort is beautiful and clean, and the staff are very friendly. But some staff don't seem to know what's going on or how to help, while others are going through the motions. When we asked the concierge for directions to the Kids Club, she sent us to "PB"/lower level where the staff only was. This happened a lot as we saw many other guests saying the same thing "she told us to come to PB". Another staff member didn't know how to get to the Kids Club even though it was located right behind the kids water, a few steps away from where he was working. Kids & teen club: The activities and shows are really only worth it if your child is age 3 and up. You can't take your 1 or 2 year old into the clubs unless it's during family time, which are in the mornings during certain time. The one time we were able to go, no one was there. They were at the kids water park instead. Activities: On the app, they have a lot going on. But nothing actually goes on. Activities run behind schedule and the events you'd actually want to go to don't start until late at night. This didn't work for us most of the time but we just did some later naps for our babe to stay up late. The Circus and Magic shows seem to be the highlight be we're only available during the week. Other days the shows we planned to go to would be canceled morning of, and there would only be DJ's or karaoke. Food: A good variety but everything is pretty meh. Great for kids though as there is something for everyone! Check the app as certain restaurants are closed and others open. Dress code is semi strict for men. Reservations for Hibachi are a must! App can be finicky. Best eats for us: Fusion and Tres Colores Pool: All pools were very kid friendly, especially Mermaid. There was a little "beach" area to walk in and the alternative side had a little splash pool. There were splash pad areas at both pools. Mermaid pool appeared to have the younger kids while Sealegs had more teens and adults. Staff become a lot more friendly if you tip. Room: We had the Junior Suite? At the main building on level 4. There was a mini leak above the fan that we called in and put a towel down. They seemed to have "checked it out" because the towel was gone but it wasn't patched and it continued to drip the rest of our stay. We were worried because it was right above where we put our toddlers crib. 2 nights before checkout there was another leak by the A/C system or whatever it is, right in front of the bathroom door. The leak was spontaneous but a lot of water poured out. We called it in again and they said they would "check it out" again. We had to put 2 big towel on the ground and someone definitely checked it out because they just pushed the towels to the side. No patch work was done and it continued to pour. When I woke up at 5:00 am there was water from the bathroom door all the way to where the end of the closet was. As a 5 month pregnant lady, stepping in this and the potential to slip is absolutely upsetting. Even more upsetting that we made them aware of our room's problems 3x but they made no effort to fix it or to potentially put us in another room. We told them again at check-out and our concierge seemed to already be aware of where the leak was, and just apologized. Nothing more. Bali Beds: We reserved a Sealegs Bali Bed before our arrival. Keep your receipts! At check-out they tried to say we owed them an extra charge of $150. We showed our email and they had to call someone to double check. Took about 15 minutes. At the end of the day it is a tourist destination, so they do what they can. We spoke to some other families (with kids ages 5 and older) who said they love it here and have come back. For me, I personally wouldn't recommend and would try a different resort.

Came here for a wedding and here is an overview of the stay…read more The best part imo is that it is about a five minute walk to Secrets, the adults only resort. If you have children, stay at Dreams, if you don't, stay at Secrets. I think it's honestly that easy. The only difference is if for some reason Dreams is super less expensive than Secrets and you don't have kids, you might as well stay at Dreams and walk over to Secrets every day. I didn't see a Secrets room, but I can't imagine it being better enough to warrant a huge price difference. Expect to see a wedding if you're here on a weekend, this place gets booked out early for weddings (like a year in advance). However, if you like to dance, it is the weddings that make the lounge fun. I heard the lounge can be pretty dead, but when there's a wedding party coming here for an afterparty, it livens the place up. I heard a couple who was leaving comment how our wedding party made that place fun. The food is like cruise food. Weirdly, a lot of restaurants were closed on certain evenings and there isn't a lot open at lunch. Look at closures before you come, so you don't spend a night eating at a restaurant that you could have eaten at when most of them are closed. I personally liked all the ceviche I tried (I know, brave of me for eating ceviche in Mexico) and disliked all the sushi I tried. All the octopus I tried was quite good too. They are very strict about mens clothes. If you go to a nicer restaurant, the men have to have sleeves. It was pretty funny that my sister and I were able to eat at the french restaurant in a crop top and shorts, but men were sent back to their room to put on a collared shirt. Bring some nice clothes. Room service takes forever, make sure you order ahead. They only bring out room service at certain times, so you go on the app and choose a time. If they are already filled at that time you could have to choose a time hours later. So either plan ahead or figure you'll be walking to a restaurant to get food. Restaurants can get very busy, so it's better to go right when it opens. Otherwise, you may end up waiting a while. There isn't a lot of activities during the day so this is definitely a lounge by the pool or beach type resort. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just be aware. At Secrets they have live music by the pool during the day which was nice. They have a good amount of workers walking by getting drinks. If you want more premium alcohol get a preferred room. They consider titos premium. Otherwise, the preferred room doesn't really seem worth it. The lazy river that only preferred guests have access to seemed really slow and there weren't a lot of people in nit. It's hidden for the most part, but since we were in the main building we could see it. The kids splash pad looked awesome for children. I would absolutely bring my kids here. The rooms are big, but depending on which building you are in, some are better than others. Get a room in the main building if you can. Originally we were in building 7 and it seemed older. The only downside to the main building was for the ocean view there was no shade on the balcony so we almost didn't use the balcony at all.

Adults only, couples only, all-inclusive resort - that's a big yes! We hadn't been to a resort in a long time and were very stoked for our visit in August 2025. As is the standard for the Excellence brand of resorts - the staff greeted us warmly and professionally. Instantly, our needs were taken care of - the room wasn't ready, but we were provided with an opportunity to change and immediately take advantage of our stay. The size of the resort initially threw us off - it is much smaller than your typical resort, but it also caters to a smaller crowd for (their words) "a boutique experience." It seemed dead until we got close to the beach area and the swim-up bar. This is where the people hang out. Dinner at El Mar our first night was amazing - excellent seafood (check out the pics) and service. We ate twice each at Lupita Steakhouse and La Isla. Unfortunately, the hotel kept changing the schedule of which restaurant would be open what night. This threw off our dinner plans more than once, and we spent more time at La Isla (with the least exciting menu) getting eaten by mosquitoes than we cared for. During our stay, the beach snacks menu also changed. It went from a delicious two-page menu to a sad one-pager; gross nachos and hot dogs, anyone? Online, people went on full-on rants about this. It turns out the menus across all the Excellence resorts are being stream-lined to the new executive chef's "vision." Some people, from what I read online, are now considering cancelling their reservations, not wanting to fly all the way here for waffles and burgers. On top of the rebranding, the hotel is also undergoing renovations to bring it up to modern times. We thought our room was beautiful, but it was a tad outdated. For customer service, though - the Excellence brand will not settle for less than, well, excellence. All of our interactions with staff at all levels was top-notch. Because of the vibe here - we didn't talk to anyone but hotel staff for four whole days. Staff shout-outs: Denise, Luis, Fernando and Fabiola at the beach; Octavio and Bernice at the spa; Andrea, Aina, and Alexander at guest services; Pasquale, Alex, and Elvis at pool side; Cirilo and Vanya at El Mar, Brenda at La Isla, and Alberto and Barbra at Lupita. I had read so many mixed reviews about this place but we had a blast. I love the Polynesian vibes. Reminded me a lot of Aulani in Hawaii. I loved how the pool was open until 9pm (or until they kick you out). The pool was a tad bit too warm for the weather but it made a perfect evening time swim comfortable. All inclusive plan includes 24/hour room service. We ordered room service meals quite a bit. It also included all drinks in the fridge and candy and snacks they offer on the daily. If I was in need or some snacks, I would call in to request a refill. They would bring the metal cart up with sodas and snacks/ and candy bars. Boy were we spoiled. The suite was spacious, allowed me to do laundry daily and had blasting cold A/C. I loved the hammock on the balcony which I took a daily afternoon nap in. There were some mosquitos and once they got into the room, we were food for the rest of the days until they get smashed. The restaurants for dinner were all amazing. I truly wished they had Caprichos buffet for dinner. I would have loved to see a carving station and good quality seafood items. The beach bar and pool service was top notch. They cleaned/ washed the lounge chair, tablets and floors daily. Each day you had a beautiful pool area to enjoy. My kids enjoyed the occasional lizards/ Iguanas they would see on the lawn. They include free paddle board bad kayaking when you stay at villa deal palmar and Garza Blanca. The staff in the hut just as which hotel. You sign a waiver for any minors and off you go. There is aqua world and a private jet ski rental place to the left of the beach (out of pocket expense). You can book any water activities there. Don't need to drive anywhere. The only complaint I had about the beach was too much seaweed. They had a tractor thing to pick up the seaweed throughout the day but it just kept washing up. Ocean water was warm and we got to see some fish. The only inconvenient thing was it's definitely a bit far away from the hotel zone and trinket shops. We had to uber in and out to go places. I can see this being a hassle if you enjoy the night life. My family however, are not that active so a couple times we went out was not too big of a deal. We truly enjoyed our stay here and I would recommend it to anyone I know.
