We've worked with Built Square twice now, for a kitchen and then a bathroom and windows project…read more The results for both projects were quite good. Kitchen was first, came in on time and on budget with minimal issues. Second project was done during the middle of Covid, so that hampered timing a bit, but I think that was understandable. There were a few issues but Built Square really did their best to make them right. I'm a very picky person and Divven and Rick worked well with me, listening to my concerns and working with me on what needed to be done.

The railings are so perfect that our listing agent fell in love with them! J&T Remodeling is HIGHLY recommended!!

These guys did extensive repairs on three bathrooms and the family room after we had water damage…read more Most of the guys he had working for them had no idea what they were doing. The downstairs bathroom was never given a second coat of paint and the floor wasn't leveled so the flooring is now breaking up. Shower door won't stay close. The vanity they recommended I get from someone they knew has unpainted spot. They also got a stone top for the vanity from the same friend and it now turning yellow. The plumbing in all the bathrooms was done by one of their workers, not a plumber and is so jerry rigged that I'm just waiting for it to fail. In the family room the track lighting is falling off because it wasn't installed properly. After they installed the flooring in the family room they dragged a piano across it and scratched the floor. After some arguing they did replace the flooring. Over all I was very disappointed and their work is not holding up. Stay away!

I feel a moral obligation to write this review, given the stellar reviews…read more I waited a bit to review, because I wanted to make sure I had as much information as possible before writing it. I hired the team to hang and tape/mud about 1000 sqft of drywall. I had a number of quotes, and Solution DryTex was one of the higher ones, but still within reason. I went with them because of their responsiveness and friendliness. I fired them part way through the work. I had six other drywall companies out to inspect their work - all six said it was unacceptably poor - four of them said to tear it out and start over. As they started hanging, they were doing an alright job, though slightly messier than I would've liked. As they continued, they did a few things that were absolutely unacceptable: - Extensive over-driven screws, which means the drywall will not hold well - Breaks in drywall not directly over a stud/joist, which means the drywall will flex and crack - Extremely poor shimming, meaning the drywall will be crooked - Random pieces of trash sitting behind drywall, meaning the drywall wasn't sitting level - Unnecessary breaks in drywall, which will cause more visual imperfections. - Completely crooked pieces that won't be able to made to look good, no matter the amount of mud I brought up some of these concerns, and they attempted to fix them. The fixes were wholly inadequate. Before I had a chance to circle back with regards to those fixes, they begun taping. After I saw their taping work, I promptly fired them. The taping work contained a number of major problems: - Prefill huge gaps using premixed mud, which will take weeks to dry (if ever) - Mud all over my brand new windows - Bubbled tape that won't be able to be hidden - Globs of mud used to fill an inch wide gap - Corner beads with large curves in them I messaged them repeatedly, telling them they needed to return my money, given the fact that I was going to have to redo all of their work, and they wasted thousands of dollars in material. I received no responses. The team is very nice - they're a pleasure to be around. But no amount of kindness makes up for the fact that they have no idea what they're doing. I don't feel particularly good about leaving this review, but I think it's the right thing to do - I don't want them to take advantage of others like they took advantage of me. EDIT: In response to the owner: Scope of work: Correct, the work was interrupted before it was finished. This was after trying to get poor work corrected. I have also verified with six independent teams that the quality of the work was not such that it could be made to look good and last. Site conditions: Regarding framing, the team came out ahead of the project and spent quite a while measuring. If the framing was not acceptable, then that would've been the time to say so. Client collaboration: Now you're just being strictly dishonest, because moving the cabinets was explicitly included in the agreement. And you used _one_ sheet of drywall, mostly because you used the 1/2 drywall in the wrong places and needed to make up for that fact. Quality of work and adjustments: The work was so far from professional that it could not be adequately adjusted. I have verified this with SIX different companies, to make sure I'm being reasonable in my assessment. Track record: I can't speak to this. All I know is my experience.

HBZ was able to efficiently problem -solve, work with materials providers, and get all varied work done in a timely fashion! 1. We had had a kitchen leak and the team was able to restore cabinets and retile the floor, ordering custom cabinet parts to match the rest of the kitchen. They replaced insulation in the crawlspace. Once completed, it looked exactly like before and you couldn't guess there had been any damage. 2. In a bathroom, they removed existing tiles to enable drying of the area (by a drying company) due to water getting trapped under tiles. Once the drying part was done, HBZ installed new tiles of our choice in a stylish arrangement. They'd offered a few options for tile placement and we were delighted with the outcome! They also gave feedback while we purchased the tiles so we felt more confident with the process. 3. They moved our new washer into a pan in our upstairs laundry room as it had been sitting outside of the pan, and they had to move piping to reinstall the applicance. This was something the appliance seller had been unable to do, but HBZ figured out an efficient way to do it. 4. Istvan, Damien and Albaro did other handy jobs like replacing the bathroom baseboards with water-durable PVC baseboards, installing new fans in the bathrooms, and replacing the transition strips between wood and tile in multiple rooms with better-looking and better-functioning strips. Overall we liked that they demonstrated accountability, care and versatility in their work. We appreciated their work so much that we've hired them for replacing some damaged wood flooring in the master bedroom. Highly recommend!

They've done everything from show up on a weekend evening at my home to help trace the source of a leak/drywall damage to completely gutting and remodeling our four-unit apartment building. I've worked with every facet of their company - administration, project management, carpenters, painters, subcontractors, etc. I always go to Monet first because their quality and honesty are incomparable. And I've worked with many different types of contractors, for many projects, on many levels. Their communication is almost always excellent, so when delays happen or issues come up (because issues will come up, especially on large projects) I'm able to get answers on revised estimates and schedule impact. Monet is also excellent about billing to estimates and keeping to schedule as much as is within their control, especially if that's an important aspect of the project for you. Any issues I've had with Monet have been extremely minor and the owner, Dave, and his team have always been quick to respond to any concerns I have. Do I occasionally have to chase them for a response? Yes. Usually? No (and especially not on anything critical). Are they frequently busy, and it's sometimes hard to get on their schedule? Yes. However, I've learned to avoid contractors who are always readily available, no signs of busy-ness in sight. Because the good ones...yeah, they're hard to get a hold of sometimes because they're exactly that - good at what they do and, therefore, in high demand. On a final note - because of the sheer volume of work they've done for us, I've also been in the position to see what happens when things come up that need repair/attention months or even a year or more later. And consistent with their excellence and integrity, they've been right there to stand behind their work down the road.
