I took a chance on them as my third barbershop in town, and it completely paid off. For months, I have dealt with a lot of anxiety and bad haircuts because of my left temple. Whenever I get a number two fade, every other person who cut it has done so in a way that it just sticks straight out on the side. Before booking, I walked in and spoke with Mikey G about my concerns. He showed me his work, and after doing some research online, I saw he had great personal reviews and awesome haircut photos. I scheduled an appointment for today at 1:30 PM, and it was a haircut experience like I have not had in a long time. The energy and vibe of the whole parlor are great. I also met Mikey's wife, and she is an absolute doll and a total pleasure to speak with. When Mikey cut my hair, he gave me this awesome retro Mad Men 1950s and 60s executive look that I really love. And that stubborn left side that always gives me trouble? He used a specialized cutting technique on it, and boy, did he nail it. After the cut, it was still as short as I wanted, but it actually laid flat. I was amazed. He explained the technique to me, and while I am not a pro, you can easily tell it is a skill that only comes from years of training and honing your craft. To top it all off, he finished up by putting hot cream around my neck and using a straight blade to clean up the edges and over my ears. He styled my hair using a pomade that smells wonderful, giving me a look I have not been able to achieve for years. I really appreciate the work Mikey did. It is a fantastic haircut, the whole experience was top-notch, and I would recommend anybody to go to Smoke and Mirrors Ladies and Gentlemen's Parlor and see Mikey G.

I just moved to Riverside just a month ago and I have been on the lookout for a barber weeks…read morebefore even moving. I've been with my barber back home in Hawaii for almost 3 years and let me tell you, it has been a struggle to find someone who can cut my hair the way I like it. Living in Riverside for almost a month I knew I needed to find a barber ASAP, and it has been difficult as most barbershops were closed due to COVID-19, however, there are a few that are operating and creating a safe and healthy environment. I met a friend online that lived in the SB area and he recommended Obie's Barber Shop & Shaving Parlor. I was a bit hesitant as this would be my first cut in CA and I was afraid of the outcome. I eventually decided to just do it because self-care is super important and getting my haircut is self-care for me. I called Obie's barbershop and they were very helpful, I asked if they had any openings the following day and the nice lady stated that there are, she even asked if this would be the first time I'm getting a cut at their shop, I said yes and that I just moved here. She was very helpful in walking me through the process of their new protocols with social distancing. The next day I received a text from my barber, Miguel, and reminded me of my appointment along with an image of their new protocols. Parking is easily accessible at this shop and you can see the barbers cutting outside. Instructions stated to wait in the car until I received a text to go in. I thought this was very efficient to stop people from crowding and to continue to practice social distancing. I saw how they sanitized everything before a new client arrived, and I really appreciate that because it shows how much they care about their clients. Once it was my turn to go in, Miguel texted me and I was greeted with a friendly environment. He asked what I was looking to get done, and I told him my regular cut, which was a Medium fade for the sides, side comb, no hard part, and half an inch on the top. Miguel really did an amazing job on the cut and I enjoyed the conversations we had. Shoutout to the owner for being the mastermind behind the outdoor set-up and allowing your clients to continue to get their haircuts in a safe environment. 10/10 would recommend this place!
