I cannot begin to say enough wonderful things about Dr. Bass! I've been going to Dr. Bass for years (and won't even think about going anywhere else); so when hubby got something in his eye from working on the car, I knew Dr. Bass would help and fix him right up! Hubby and I showed up shortly after the office opened and were greeted by the incredibly sweet front desk staff who checked us in and got hubby all set with paperwork. Dr. Bass' assistant took us back shortly thereafter where Dr. Bass came to take care of hubby's eye. After an examination, Dr. Bass informed us that hubby managed to get rust in his eye -- ouch! Dr. Bass took time to explain everything to us and was gentle when removing the rust as to not damage hubby's eye or sight. By the time we left, hubby was feeling better and his eye was less painful, and I was grateful since we all know what a pain it is to get something in your eye. So glad that Dr. Bass was able to get hubby in so quickly for an appointment and get his eye taken care of! I highly recommend Dr. Bass to anyone needing an eye specialist. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind, caring, and takes the time to ensure you are getting the proper care you need. read more

It is a waste of money getting a prescription that doesn't focus correctly. I had been going to Excel for years. Recently I had my vision examined. The eyeglasses that came back were out of focus. Argumentative and begrudgingly, Excel offered a second vision examination and happily reported reported the same inaccurate prescription. I went to a different optometrist and got the correct prescription on the first try. This is not the first time an incorrect prescription was determined by this office. The same thing happened a year ago with my daughter receiving an incorrect prescription. The costs of examination are several hundred dollars. This is a waste of money. Gail Bass is retiring, but her business, Excel Vision, needs to correct its own vision and has already retired. read more

I have been going to Dr. Gail Bass for 13 years, until she sold her practice to Dr. Wooten. I saw Dr. Wooten for two years and she did a good job, however, today I went to the office for a routine eye exam and to order new contacts. The practice is now NUVISION/EXCEL and is run by a totally new staff. The doctor was nice enough however, the prices have jumped more than 50%. So for the same eye exam and contacts that I paid $305 last year, I was expected to pay $525 this year and that is with my VSP insurance. I was told the Doctor did a lens fitting and that is why the cost was so high. Whatever the doctor did was no different than what Dr. Bass and Dr. Wooten did for the last 15 years. I have worn contacts for 56 years and I was only getting a new pair to change the prescription, not the fit. This is unacceptable price gouging. I am finding a new optometrist to meet my needs. read more

Front desk staff are not very customer focused. I called to discuss the prescription that was in two pair of glasses as they were giving me a headache. And I could see the dashboard but not distance (which is what they were for). I told them I had long COVID and could not come in during the window of time to fix the prescription. She told me nothing could be done and wouldn't allow me to speak with anyone else. I spend $2800 on glasses! I will not be returning and I will not refer them either. read more

From beginning to end, I had a positive experience with this doctor's office. I called to make an appointment on Monday and I was scheduled for Thursday, very prompt. I was told to arrive early to fill out new patient paperwork and the receptionists were competent and helpful. Margo, the assistant, came out to do the eye tests and she was great. She explained everything that she was doing and made me feel comfortable. She explained the new retina scanning machine, which would replace dilation, but it costs extra and my insurance covered dilation so I passed. After this, I waited about 15 minutes for Dr. Bass to come in. She is obviously very professional and good at her job. I liked her demeanor and how straightforward she is. She conducted my contact lens exam and made sure I had the right ones. She put in all the codes and wrote up my prescription and proceeded to dilate my eyes. As we waited for them, she took me out to the optician, Jennifer, who would explain pricing options. She was wonderful! I liked that she showed me each fee and what I would need to pay if I got contacts or glasses, with my insurance. She was also super patient and nice as she picked out frames for me to try (I don't like how I look in glasses so this was a difficult process, but ended up working out well). I finally narrowed down to a few frames and chose the one I liked best. Once again, Jennifer calculated my total and I paid half of it (I will pay the other half when I pick up my glasses). I waited another 10 minutes for the doctor to check on my pupils and was relieved that everything looked healthy. I'm happy I found new glasses and look forward to giving my eyes a break by wearing them more often. Bottom line: need an optometrist? Check that they accept your insurance and schedule a visit. read more

The last review read like an advert, here is an update. Had problems with the cool kids sunglass frames that I picked out and my prescription. The lenses came back from the lab with flaws, and multiple tries did not help. Unfortunately it took weeks and the whole time Jennifer was very professional, (I can be whiny), and updated me often. In the end, I got more than I asked for. I like to support local small businesses, and Excel Vision is a really good one. read more

Excel vision is where numerous factors come together in a fantastic blend resulting in a fantastic experience for the customer. The whole place works like a well oiled machinery with Dr. Bass at the epicenter and a bunch of thorough, courteous professionals rallying around her. Everybody is good at what they do, but more importantly they do it in a customer oriented fashion which makes sure that you as a customer has a takeaway that benefits you. My wife and I went to Dr.Bass for a well vision exam and prescription glasses. We were given a walkthrough of the process and then taken through each test systematically. Dr. Bass was gentle and matter of fact at the same time while explaining why she was performing each test and made sure all our questions and concerns were addressed. Jen, who picked the frames for us walked us through our insurance plan, minute details of our coverage and made sure she gave us the best deals while giving us ample time to try out and decide on our choice of frames. I was pleasantly surprised (after years of subpar service at the other place) to find punctual, friendly, knowledgeable staff at every step of service and a kind, thorough, knowledgeable and eager-to-educate OD in Dr Bass. She is so great and on point, I've referred my parents who both love her and her staff as well. (I'm a nurse, I don't recommend medical people without a lot of consideration). read more

I just went to this office for the first time. The staff was very friendly. I did have a very small wait for about 20 minutes and then I went back and met Dr Gail Bass. She was very nice and thorough. I felt completely comfortable in the office. She did dilate my eyes and the escorted me out to pick out glasses while the dilation took place. I told the glasses technician that I did not want to go outside of my insurance prices. He showed me what would be covered completely and I realized that I would have to play a small amount more to get my lenses thinned out and an extra $50 for the frames I wanted. I was ok with that. I was then taken back to Dr Gail and she took a look at my eyes and said they looked great. She even asked if I needed a spare pair of sun glasses to wear home. Dr. Bass and her entire team were amazing. I got to interact with pretty much everyone while I was there on my first visit. I needed a full check up, and suspected i would need glasses too. Arranging the appointment was easy and done over the phone - originally it was for a week or so out but i requested to be put on the wait list for any last minute cancellations so I could get the first visit within the insurance year. They called back the very next day and offered me a new closer time which was great! When I got there I was greeted by Nicole and Jessica who were friendly and professional. After 5mins of new patient paperwork I was set-up with their online portal which stores all my records and messages which is cool - i dont know why dentist and doctors don't do this as well. Margo the Dr's Assistant, who was very friendly also, took me through and did some basic checks - which included the new 3D retina scanner machine. Apparently this is instead of needing to dilate. It took seconds and the images of the back of my eye were very cool - i might even create a picture out of them. After this Dr Bass saw me for a more thorough examination. Dr Bass was very professional, softly spoken and took the time to explain to me what was going on and why i might have been experiencing the symptoms I was. After the examination was complete i got a prescription for some glasses and instructions on when I should use them. Once that was complete Madison took over to help me pick some frames and measure my eyes for the specks. Madison was lovely and took me through all my options and why i might want certain items and not others. I think my consultation lasted past closing time, but i never felt in any rush and Madison genuinely appeared to be passionate about helping me find the right stuff for what i needed. Great experience! All the staff was friendly and efficient from the time I walked in the door; I felt at ease and welcome immediately. I was greeted promptly by the reception staff and they explained the paperwork since I am a new patient. The Doctor Assistant explained each step of the exam along the way. The Doctor was also great at helping me understand the exam and results, and more importantly the current condition of my eyes and prescription. I am so glad to find Dr. Bass and her staff there! I had been so struggling with my old eye care clinic....it took over two weeks to get only TRIAL contact lenses and in the past time, they lost my trials and never told me and other time, they gave me totally wrong contact lenses... I was about togo on vacation so I went there to get new contact lenses two months before the vacation. The result is, I didn't get new lenses before the vacation after getting three, four trials (including wrong ones) and I had to go on vacation with wrong contact lenses. This was NOT the first time....so I made a dicision to change the clinic. Luckily I found this awesome clinic and wow....I got traials in the same day and new lenses within a week!!!! Dr. Bass is just so great! She explained what you need properly and her job is so accurate! Also her staff are excellent....I could not use my insurance twards eye exam and product due to my old clinic held it and I was about to give it up and pay without insurance. But they talked to my insurance company and asked them to release it from my old clinic.... and I got my insurance back!!! I had been thinking the way my old clinic was normal and just didn't know the clinic like Excel Vision exsisted in this world before.....!!!!! Now I got the best eyesight I ever had in five years and am so happy with that! I definitely recommend Dr. Bass if you are looking for real good one!! read more
