It's every homeowner's nightmare: the water heater decided to crap out in the middle of winter. Great. I instantly took to Yelp and found Excel. They responded to my inquiry within a matter of minutes, and about an hour later, arrived at my place to take a look. The guy that came was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Being in Sales myself, I can instantly spot a hard-sell. This was not the case at all. He gave me a few options, with pricing, and advised me of what my best options may be. Once we agreed on the course of action, he worked to get both of my existing water heaters removed, and a new 75-gallon installed, the SAME DAY! The installers that came later that day did a great job of keeping everything clean and tidy. I couldn't have been happier. read more

I can't say enough good things about these folks. They were very communicative and beyond fair. I requested some Yelp quotes for a leaking sink and they responded the fastest with the most useful information. I told them I had houseguests coming the next day and they worked really hard and rearranged their plumber assignments to be conducive to that timetable. The plumber who came out was kind and professional. He gave me a lot of information about my pipes that was extremely useful so I could do some of my own research. He was patient while I checked out a few things and ultimately we decided to wait til summer to do the bulk of the work that needs to be done. He patched me up til then and made me feel no pressure to commit to them for the bigger project... Which means I'M DEFINITELY using them this summer when I need to replace pipes. Grateful through and through. read more

On time, polite and great service. would rehire again for any other plumbing jobs. A good value.

Honest plumbers they helped out with several issues. No problems since. Always come back if needed when the job is right. Quick communication. Everything you need from plumbers. Could be cheaper but it is what it is. read more

Highly recommended great service start to finish very professional and friendly. I will use them in future as well., Thank you. read more

Overall a very good experience and we plan to use Excel Plumbing for our plumbing needs going forward. Egor came out to fix our leaking backyard faucet. He worked with us to figure out a solution to fix the faucet without having to cut a big hole in the drywall on the other side of the wall by going to the store and finding an exact match of the faucet that was leaking. It was a reasonable cost for the fix and saved us from the pain of having to fix the drywall. Very much appreciated! read more

I have used Excel a couple of times and thought that they were pretty good. But, I guess it all depends on which plumber they send over. This week I had Excel come to quote an outside faucet repair. The plumber said that he couldn't turn the water off be house for fear of a gasket breaking due to a "corroded" valve. He said it would cost $495 to replace the valve and would take a few hours to repair. My town's public works official questioned this and advised I get second opinion. The second plumber came in and just turned the valve with his hand as if nothing was wrong. No problem with valve he said, saving me the money and the pain of having to have the village come to shut the water off to the house. Was Excel plumber taking advantage of a senior citizen? read more

My shower had very poor water pressure and I was worried about possible leaking. The shower handle was also very old and the water mixing cartridge didn't seem to be working well anymore. Excel Plumbing was very fast to respond to my inquiry and actually read the answers I provided in regards to what I needed done. They were very quick to send someone out (like next day) to look at the problem and give me a quote. Kurt L. Was on time, polite, and quick to diagnose the problem. He gave me a quote for the work that needed to be done and took the time to explain the issue and how it would be fixed. The cost for the work and parts was very reasonable and the explanation was very straightforward. Excel made sure that Kurt L. was also the same person to come back and actually do the fixing--it wasn't a necessity for me but it was very nice and appreciated. Kurt again was on time, worked quickly and cleaned up after himself. I couldn't even tell he had been there! Our new shower works amazing now. Thank you so much! I am definitely recommending both Excel and Kurt to everyone I know and will continue to work with them in the future. read more

Had an ejector pump fail that Excel had installed 6 months prior. They would not warranty the pump because they said it was clogged but could not provide proof or photos. The plumber used our kids you bin lid to protect his knees from sewage and then put it back like it was fine. He "finished" without resealing the ejector pump lid and left the exhaust unconnected to the external line so it reeked like sewage all through the house. We asked Excel to confirm he re-sealed it and they confirmed he did. They sent him back out the next day when we saw it was not sealed or even connected. Instead of coming to the door, the plumber parked in front of the house then left, claiming no one came to get him. We confirmed with our doorbell camera he never got out of his truck. Just parked then left.... We will never make the mistake of using excel again. $2,000 dollars worth of pumps and damage later. An embarrassment to service professionals. Stay away! read more

The people at Excel put the customer first. I had questions answered and the process was very comfortable. This company is about taking care of your need not about billing what ever they can. I have co risen e in their honesty and integrity. read more

Great communication to schedule estimate. Ronnie and Wally were awesome. Very professional, tidy, polite, and thorough in their explanation of options for a new water heater. Highly recommend this company. read more

Our water bill through the Village has been extremely high recently. The Village told me to call a plumber to see if there is a water leak. I called Excel Plumbing today and Brian came out within a couple hours to look for a leak. He found that the toilet had a leak within a couple minutes of arriving. He still went around the house to check for any other possible leaks and fixed two other toilets that had high water in the tanks. Brian was excellent. I highly recommend Excel plumbing to anyone who wants an honest plumber and a reasonable bill. We will be calling Excel Plumbing for all our plumbing needs. Great job Excel plumbing!! read more

Folks were good. Perhaps a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for, I suppose.

One of the better repair services we've used. Did great work to replace our sewer line. Great, neat excavation. On time, professional, neat, caring, not disruptive at all. Excellent work, I'll certainly use Excel again! read more

Very disappointed in this company. I called them to fix a plumbing vent that was leaking through the ceiling in my kitchen. The first time someone came for an estimate, they told me to call a roofer. I called a roofer. The roofer told me it was definitely a plumbing problem. I called Excel back and another plumber came out to look. He told me it was going to cost over $1500 and they were going to need to take out a huge section of drywall to fix the problem. I got a recommendation for another plumber in the area. It took this person 1 hour and cost a tenth of what Excel was trying to charge me. It was as if they didn't want the job and told me an astronomical price to get rid of me. read more

DO NOT USE EXCEL PLUMBING! FIND ANYONE ELSE! I am sure everyone has good experiences and negative experiences with a plumber but here is my experience and you can decide if you want to risk this with your home: They did all the plumbing on my new construction home in 2018. In 2020, the water stopped coming to my top floor. They sent a plumber out to "inspect"...he just starred at pipes while I asked him if he wanted to actually look deeper and said "No, you need new everything on this floor". Next thing you know I get a CRAZY high quote for labor (parts are cheap) with no room to budge on price as "there are no warrantees for pipes". I do not think their model is to install broken equipment and then charge enormous prices to fix them 2 years later...but thats what happened! Too many other options in the city to use these fools who do not stand by their business. read more

I bought a home and needed some Galvanized pipe changed threw my whole house I was getting quotes through multiple companies and when I called hydro genie plumber came and walked me throughout instead of over the phone And did An awesome job thanks again HYDRO GENIE!!!!!!! read more

We can always rely on Excel plumbing to get the job done right and at a reasonable cost. They are very courteous about advising of timing of the technicians. Technicians are knowledgeable and polite as well..Have used them over the years for complex jobs such as installing a new water pressure pump to toilet repairs. read more

3rd experience with Excel: an update with my water heater installation It turns out that they installed the incorrect anode rod material, magnesium vs aluminum, which resulted in some issues a couple months later. I called and got the problem diagnosed quickly over the phone, and it took 2.5 weeks for Excel to receive the part and schedule a visit. On my original call, they did try to upsell me on a powered anode rod for $300, but they did the standard replacement for free as it was a miss on their part. Lesson learned: if you're on well water and getting a water heater installed, make sure they are installing an aluminum, not magnesium, anode rod. They should know this, but it's good to confirm to avoid issues like in my case. read more

Updating my review. I usually had work done with Luke ( fantastic to work with!). However, a recent plumbing issue led me to work with Adrian. He was extremely knowledgeable with what needed to be done and I would definitely work with him, Luke or any other Excel plumber in the future! read more

I contacted Excel for a quote at the end of the day Friday. My usual go-to plumber still has not gotten back to me. Excel responded right away and in minutes I had a time scheduled for an estimate. Their communication continued through the day Saturday. While we found a different solution and ended up canceling our appointment, based just on their responsiveness I'll contact them for site the next time o have a plumbing need. Incredibly professional and communicative. read more

Don't hesitate to call this company! I had a leaky shower faucet at a rental property in prospect heights. The kind receptionist(lisa I think) helped schedule an appointment. Brian arrived soon after to fix the problem. He showed up on time and solved the problem in a very efficient manner. It didn't take him long he seemed to be very knowledgeable and equipped for the job. It was my first time using a plumber in a long time. I plan on using this local business anytime I have a plumbing issue and you should too. Thank you excel for helpful and kind customer service reps and professional well trained technicians . Not all companies are easy to work with but at excel the experience couldn't have been any easier! 10 stars ! read more

Were available during my time of emergency. I had a pipe burst due to our cold weather. The person on the phone advised me how to shut my water off AND the plumber was at my home in 50mins. Great service and reliable, what more can you ask for? read more

We had a leak coming from the upstairs plumbing and called Excel. Luke texted with a picture when he was on his way, and showed up on time. He was able to figure out the main drain line was blocked causing water to back up. He was able to rod it and fix the problem! He also noticed our wax seal under the toilet was not sealed properly so he replaced that as well. We really appreciated he wore a mask and shoe covers and also cleaned up the area when the work was done. Luke was very friendly and explained in detail what happened and how it was fixed. Thanks! read more

Absolutely terrific. Called in morning and had service that afternoon. Notified me they were on their way, every safety precaution was taken and very respectful of premises. My water heater stopped working and I called Excel and they came out the next morning to replace it. My install was not a typical replacement. Ed the technician was awesome, very polite and knowledgeable. I would definitely call Excel for my future plumbing needs. read more

We came home from vacation and discovered our sump pump had failed, no damage luckily. I found Excel Plumbing on Yelp and gave them a call this morning. A helpful operator walked through the situation and promised a plumber would be here between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Like clockwork the Excel called a little after 1:00 to let us know the plumber was one the way. When Mark, the plumber, arrived he was courteous and well spoken. He analyzed the problem gave me options and a written quote. I approved the work and he was done in a little over an hour and a half. He did good quality work, cleaned everything up, emailed me photos of the repair and a receipt. The work was top notch. I highly recommend Excel Plumbing. read more

100% recommend. The professionalism started with Maureen responding immediately to set-up the estimate. The day of the appt, I received both a call and a text with a picture of Luigi who was on his way. Having the picture of the person coming into my home was a nice extra measure of security that I appreciated. Covid precautions were all in place: he wore a mask the whole time and remained a safe distance. He showed up within the window that was scheduled. Luigi was so professional, helpful, and polite. I thought it was just an estimate and would be fixed at a later date, but he was able to fix the problem on the spot that a previous plumber estimated me over 3x as much and had to schedule later to come back. This will be my new plumbing company for sure. read more

Luigi went above and beyond to fix our problem. he was very well prepared and very knowledgeable. We were so thankful that he didn't give up and found a solution to our problem. Happy to say that five years later, the $500 water softener is working great and the water heater is still working fine. Like the owner of Excel said, there can be many solutions to a problem. My gripe was they only presented their best / most expensive solution. read more

I was getting nervous during heavy rains since my sump pump is old and cheap. Seem like everybody's basement flood nightmare story always leads back to a "should've replaced my sump pump" punchline at the end. These guys replace a ton of them so it was an easy straightforward job for them. They had no problem working around my radon seal and sealing it back up when they were done. Replaced my old pump with a high quality primary+secondary two-pump system with a battery backup. I can rest well now through the fall season. read more

We chose Excel to replace our failed/old sump pump after they provided a better quote than one of their competitors. They were very quick to schedule the job and we had a good experience with our plumber Luke K., who was very professional. The work was completed as scheduled, Luke answered all my questions, and was good about cleaning up the work area after he finished and getting everything back to its place. read more

Adrian came out a couple of minutes after I hung up the phone. Their office is pretty close to our house. But still pretty cool. He came and diagnosed the issue and gave a recommendation on who to call for cleanup. We had a leak from a faulty toilet, suffice to say I will be calling them again in the future. Thank you for your quick and prompt service! read more
