I have used Excel a couple of times and thought that they were pretty good. But, I guess it all depends on which plumber they send over. This week I had Excel come to quote an outside faucet repair. The plumber said that he couldn't turn the water off be house for fear of a gasket breaking due to a "corroded" valve. He said it would cost $495 to replace the valve and would take a few hours to repair. My town's public works official questioned this and advised I get second opinion. The second plumber came in and just turned the valve with his hand as if nothing was wrong. No problem with valve he said, saving me the money and the pain of having to have the village come to shut the water off to the house. Had an ejector pump fail that Excel had installed 6 months prior. They would not warranty the pump because they said it was clogged but could not provide proof or photos. The plumber used our kids you bin lid to protect his knees from sewage and then put it back like it was fine. He "finished" without resealing the ejector pump lid and left the exhaust unconnected to the external line so it reeked like sewage all through the house. We asked Excel to confirm he re-sealed it and they confirmed he did. They sent him back out the next day when we saw it was not sealed or even connected. Instead of coming to the door, the plumber parked in front of the house then left, claiming no one came to get him. We confirmed with our doorbell camera he never got out of his truck. Just parked then left.... We will never make the mistake of using excel again. $2,000 dollars worth of pumps and damage later. An embarrassment to service professionals. Stay away! read more

Update: When the company originally sent plumbers out to do the work at our house, the office staff was very rude and told us that work that was originally verbally agreed upon would never be done by this company. I contacted Excel for a quote at the end of the day Friday. My usual go-to plumber still has not gotten back to me. Excel responded right away and in minutes I had a time scheduled for an estimate. Their communication continued through the day Saturday. Our water bill through the Village has been extremely high recently. The Village told me to call a plumber to see if there is a water leak. I called Excel Plumbing today and Brian came out within a couple hours to look for a leak. He found that the toilet had a leak within a couple minutes of arriving. He still went around the house to check for any other possible leaks and fixed two other toilets that had high water in the tanks. Brian was excellent. I highly recommend Excel plumbing to anyone who wants an honest plumber and a reasonable bill. We will be calling Excel Plumbing for all our plumbing needs. Great job Excel plumbing!! read more

Very disappointed in this company. I called them to fix a plumbing vent that was leaking through the ceiling in my kitchen. The first time someone came for an estimate, they told me to call a roofer. I called a roofer. The roofer told me it was definitely a plumbing problem. I called Excel back and another plumber came out to look. He told me it was going to cost over $1500 and they were going to need to take out a huge section of drywall to fix the problem. I got a recommendation for another plumber in the area. It took this person 1 hour and cost a tenth of what Excel was trying to charge me. It was as if they didn't want the job and told me an astronomical price to get rid of me. read more

DO NOT USE EXCEL PLUMBING! FIND ANYONE ELSE! I am sure everyone has good experiences and negative experiences with a plumber but here is my experience and you can decide if you want to risk this with your home: They did all the plumbing on my new construction home in 2018. In 2020, the water stopped coming to my top floor. They sent a plumber out to "inspect"...he just starred at pipes while I asked him if he wanted to actually look deeper and said "No, you need new everything on this floor". Next thing you know I get a CRAZY high quote for labor (parts are cheap) with no room to budge on price as "there are no warrantees for pipes". I do not think their model is to install broken equipment and then charge enormous prices to fix them 2 years later...but thats what happened! Too many other options in the city to use these fools who do not stand by their business. read more

3rd experience with Excel: an update with my water heater installation It turns out that they installed the incorrect anode rod material, magnesium vs aluminum, which resulted in some issues a couple months later. I called and got the problem diagnosed quickly over the phone, and it took 2.5 weeks for Excel to receive the part and schedule a visit. On my original call, they did try to upsell me on a powered anode rod for $300, but they did the standard replacement for free as it was a miss on their part. Lesson learned: if you're on well water and getting a water heater installed, make sure they are installing an aluminum, not magnesium, anode rod. They should know this, but it's good to confirm to avoid issues like in my case. read more

We had a leak coming from the upstairs plumbing and called Excel. Luke texted with a picture when he was on his way, and showed up on time. He was able to figure out the main drain line was blocked causing water to back up. He was able to rod it and fix the problem! He also noticed our wax seal under the toilet was not sealed properly so he replaced that as well. We really appreciated he wore a mask and shoe covers and also cleaned up the area when the work was done. Luke was very friendly and explained in detail what happened and how it was fixed. I was getting nervous during heavy rains since my sump pump is old and cheap. Seem like everybody's basement flood nightmare story always leads back to a "should've replaced my sump pump" punchline at the end. These guys replace a ton of them so it was an easy straightforward job for them. They had no problem working around my radon seal and sealing it back up when they were done. Replaced my old pump with a high quality primary+secondary two-pump system with a battery backup. I can rest well now through the fall season. read more

We came home from vacation and discovered our sump pump had failed, no damage luckily. I found Excel Plumbing on Yelp and gave them a call this morning. A helpful operator walked through the situation and promised a plumber would be here between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Like clockwork the Excel called a little after 1:00 to let us know the plumber was one the way. When Mark, the plumber, arrived he was courteous and well spoken. He analyzed the problem gave me options and a written quote. I approved the work and he was done in a little over an hour and a half. I thought I needed to have a window well drain rooted out, but Ronnie was able to show me - using Excel's amazing underground camera - that this was NOT the problem. He also identified the true problem and fixed it the same day. He was very knowledgeable and, just as important, he went to great lengths to make sure I understood why he was recommending the course of action he did. Came in for a clogged sink in my laundry room. Cut up some pipes without asking me first then told me they have to replace everything. Charged me over $400 for messing up my pipes and quoted me over $5000 to fix it. Do yourself a favor can call Pat from Drain-eez. He's an honest guy and won't try to rip you off. read more
