When I arrived on my first day I was shocked at how run down this building is. The outside looks to be stuck in the 1960's and inside is super depressing: small windowless dark rooms that are run down. I walk through one physical therapy area to my speech therapists office and only saw one exercise equipment and a few treatment tables. The workers looked bored and not all are friendly with smiles or hellos. I quickly realized that my physical therapy (Golden Bear) is a five star resort! Bright open floor plan with a ton of exercise equipment in a clean and well kept building. Day and night difference. My speech therapist is just wonderful though! She is patient, kind, knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. She is helping me so much. I feel lucky to have her care. I feel bad that she works in such a run down environment. I try to ignore the ugly depressing environment. I would never come here for physical therapy. I'm sure the therapists are just as good as my speech therapist. I just don't think I could take the depressing environment. The environment is a one star, but my speech therapist is a five star. So that is why they get a three star review. Environment affects mood, feelings, wellbeing. I practically run out of there when I'm done.

I feel like I was very fortunate to have him as a surgeon before everything fell apart because of his greed. I could not even move my shoulder, and I would wake up throughout every single night feeling like someone had stabbed me in my shoulder. It was so tore up from years of serving and carrying heavy plates and trays. I never thought I'd be able to use my arm and shoulder again without severe and chronic pain. It is very upsetting that he was greedy and lied, and basically threw away his life and his extremely gifted skill set for surgery. I had the surgery in 2016. And I felt like the bionic woman with a brand new shoulder afterwards. It is now 2025, and I still have no pain in my shoulder. I have been very active. There seem to be only one or two actual physical therapists here and the majority of workers are…read moreassistants or people in training. The employees working directly with patients all seemed to be waiting for the actual therapist to get around to consulting with them so they could move forward. Sometimes there were 6 or 7 other patients for what seemed like only one actual therapist. There is zero privacy here. You are in an open room with lots of other patients. While here, I was able to hear multiple conversations between patients and their therapists and I was visually able to see all the exercises and activities they were told to preform. It was uncomfortable. I have had physical therapy before and either had the area to myself or was placed where there was a curtain so I did not have to feel like strangers were watching me at an incredibly vulnerable time. Many patients here obviously need assistance as well so in addition to other patients, spouses and/or children typically wait inside. I am glad to have this location here to serve the community but there is a lot that could be improved. They need to be more concerned about the privacy of their patients and add room dividers or screens and definitely block the patients and exercise area from the waiting area. I appreciate what they do, but hope they take steps to make this a better experience for their patients.
