Dr Than did an amazing job on my knee replacement, which was an old revision done by Dr. Macko. Of…read morecourse we all love Dr Macko but he retired Dr. Than is an excellent choice for a knee or hip surgery. He has been trained in very difficult knee and hip surgeries ones that other people couldn't fix. He's caring, will listen to you, but he's also efficient. He has the best PA, Megan Stier that I have ever seen. I commend whoever at Sutter Gould hired Dr.Than, what a smart choice!

He was open about including my husband at all of my appointments, as my husband was the one providing my in-home care. My husband felt very confident in Dr. Than, as I did. He was very clear about the non-weight bearing restrictions & the time frame for those restrictions. It's amazing to see my scar, now three months after the surgery. It is so faint you can barely see it. My friends are amazed at how wonderfully my incision has healed & so quickly. Dr. Than is very thorough in his pre-op preparation. I have a bleeding disorder & had a pulmonary embolism almost 20 years prior, following a back surgery. I also have asthma & some minor heart issues. Dr. Than made sure I had all the pre-op tests & approvals from my specialists, prior to the surgery. In regard to recovery, Dr. Than has referred me for Physical Therapy & is confident I will regain all of the functions of my leg & knee I had prior to my accident.

There was always a long wait time before seeing him, but I do appreciate how he didn't wanna rush treatment. I felt like if we had time, he could've helped me more But the process with him was a little frustrating. I think that he did care about people, but maybe he did overbook which can explain the long wait times did he care enough? I don't know. I believe that every experience is unique, but if he still had a practice, I most likely would have seen him again for treatment For lower back pain.

I feel like I was very fortunate to have him as a surgeon before everything fell apart because of his greed. I could not even move my shoulder, and I would wake up throughout every single night feeling like someone had stabbed me in my shoulder. It was so tore up from years of serving and carrying heavy plates and trays. I never thought I'd be able to use my arm and shoulder again without severe and chronic pain. It is very upsetting that he was greedy and lied, and basically threw away his life and his extremely gifted skill set for surgery. I had the surgery in 2016. And I felt like the bionic woman with a brand new shoulder afterwards. It is now 2025, and I still have no pain in my shoulder. I have been very active. Over the years and still no problems He may have been condemned in California. I don't know if he will ever be able to practice again In any other state, but with his skill set, if I ever need another surgery that is in his expertise, I would drive out a state to obtain another surgery from. After suffering a shoulder injury, I was referred to Alpine by my treating doctor. Before Alpine…read morewill book an appointment, all medical records need to be submitted to the surgeon for review. Once reviewed and the doctor accepts to see the patient, the front office will book an appointment. This process took about two weeks before the doctor agreed to see me. The front lobby is pretty large with plenty of seating and accessible bathrooms. There is also a small table and chairs for children in the corner. There are five windows in reception, so wait time to check-in is pretty quick. The receptionist I've dealt with was pleasant. The reason for taking one star away: This place is extremely busy. Plan ahead and ensure your schedule is clear a few hours around your appointment time. After being checked-in for my appointments, I wasn't taken back to a room for about 20 minutes after my scheduled time. Once in the patient room, it took about 1 1/2 hours on my first appointment and about 30 minutes on the other two appointments to be seen by the surgeon. There are signs posted informing patients of these delays. I 100% agree that every patient is different and times can vary. However, this was probably the most annoying thing about my experience at Alpine. Having said that, my doctor took time to explain the procedure and my options. After speaking with him and researching him, I was confident in his ability to repair my shoulder. Once I elected to proceed with surgery, I was able to schedule surgery pretty quickly. On the day of the surgery, my surgeon checked in with me to ensure I didn't have any last minute questions. He told us the estimated time surgery would take and told my wife he would call her when my procedure was done. Once I was done in surgery, he called my wife as promised. I did not suffer any complications after surgery. Everything healed well, looks good and I am expected to make a full recovery. Based on my experience, I would use Alpine again.
