The quality of care that I received in Dr. Wisner's office was basic. I would say it was a three out of five stars. There was always a long wait time before seeing him, but I do appreciate how he didn't wanna rush treatment. I felt like if we had time, he could've helped me more But the process with him was a little frustrating. I think that he did care about people, but maybe he did overbook which can explain the long wait times did he care enough? I don't know. I believe that every experience is unique, but if he still had a practice, I most likely would have seen him again for treatment For lower back pain. read more

I don't care that Dr wisner was arrested. All I can say is that he is a miracle worker. Everything said with the extra x rays and extended wait times to be seen, he did the most amazing job with my shoulder surgery. I feel like I was very fortunate to have him as a surgeon before everything fell apart because of his greed. I could not even move my shoulder, and I would wake up throughout every single night feeling like someone had stabbed me in my shoulder. It was so tore up from years of serving and carrying heavy plates and trays. I never thought I'd be able to use my arm and shoulder again without severe and chronic pain. It is very upsetting that he was greedy and lied, and basically threw away his life and his extremely gifted skill set for surgery. I had the surgery in 2016. And I felt like the bionic woman with a brand new shoulder afterwards. It is now 2025, and I still have no pain in my shoulder. I have been very active. Over the years and still no problems He may have been condemned in California. I don't know if he will ever be able to practice again In any other state, but with his skill set, if I ever need another surgery that is in his expertise, I would drive out a state to obtain another surgery from. The person capable of giving a 5 star review was possibly seen by a different doctor. Mistaken identity? The person I saw, Gary Wisner, was a total fraud. That is why he was sentenced to 7 years in prison. While sitting in his waiting room I heard him yell at his staff, disrespect patients. Most appointments I waited from 1-3 hrs before being seen. Half the time it was just so he could order more Xrays. I was never seen by the doctor for more than 10-15 minutes at the most. I was sent to the person who did Xrays in house. I was suffering from severe lower back pain. He took Xrays of my elbows, my ankles, many others. I knew something wasn't right. I refused to go into his office any more. The following day my roommate brought to my attention a news report about Dr. Wisner being investigated. I'm just sorry I wasted my time with this Dr. I had to come from Sacramento to Lodi. Pardon me? You're asking me to take down a fictitious review because we were never seen in your office? No sir, your response is incorrect. The review was started, while I was sitting in your office with my 80-year-old friend, who was most certainly being seen by you, several years ago. The front of your office was covered with 8" X 11" pieces of paper, Stuck in plastic sleeves, taped to your countertops, with terse, demanding instructions, laying down the law for expectations, rules, and other demands being made of your customers both while they were sitting in the lobby, if they had any questions, or while they were headed back to the exam room. Your staff were rude, unhelpful, unfriendly, and surly. You weren't bad, you actually gave us a used roll of white tape when you showed us how to make some kind of a splint for a hammertoe. Unfortunately, you clearly didn't give two craps about how your patients were treated by your staff, nor was our time important to you. And, it sounds like that's a pretty common theme as I read the other reviews. I think the most insulting thing of all, is the fact you would respond to my comment by saying it's fraudulent Instead of apologizing for the experience. Jesus Christ, man. UPDATE: 2/16/22 Seeing that Gary Wisner has replied after 5 years only to claim I wasn't a patient is almost laughable and unbelievable; however, it does sum up his character as a person. It also looks like he claims all the negative reviewers were never his patient. I think the 20+ people who found my review useful believe me. And the 30+ reviewers who have similar comments about you and your practice are the ones who are truthful. Gary, we can play this game if you want to. I was an idiotic college student when the incident occurred 5 years ago. Just to let you know, I did take your advice out of desperation and went to the ER, despite knowing nothing was going to come out of it. I went to UCD Med Center ER. If I really wanted to, I would be able to pull the records of my ER visit that night because they have an EMR. I would also be able to access records of the referrals from Medi-Cal if I wanted to. However, that is a waste of time and you are not worthy of that time. I just hope this review sheds light on future patients who will take their time and business somewhere else. Someone who is more intelligent and compassionate not only towards his/her patients, but also their staff. Furthermore, a quick google search of your name shows you were indicted for Medi-Cal fraud of $700,000 plus. Took my 73yr old mom to see this Dr in 2017 for her knee pain, the staff was rude and we were not impressed at all. He was dismissive and while not super rude, we felt not cared for. Fast forward and we just find out he's been been convicted of insurance FRAUD!! WARNING don't go to an office full of liars! There are better Dr's out there with actual integrity! He is in fact, lying, which is quite hilarious and no surprise as it falls in line with my experience here He is trying to discredit all of his past patients and attempting to paint a pretty picture for any new potential and unfortunate patient that decides to choose him as their care provider. To this day I remember my experience of visiting Dr. Wisner- it was after I finished my first semester of college (im still young so my memory is well intact) and I had a pinched nerve that took a couple of years to heal. Ironically my mom told me to avoid this place like the plague but it was the only doctor that had an opening before I had to go back to school. I always tell others that if I had seen a different doctor first, it would not have took such a lengthy period of time to heal. It took 6 years for them to reply to my Yelp review yet it only took me 6 hours to provide a new update- I standby by my previous review and will not allow this person/business to accuse myself and others of lying to try to cover for their poor business practices. Tell me, exactly in what sort of doctor, practitioner, or any other medical office is it considered acceptable to yell at your staff, well within earshot of the waiting room?? At first I was very displeased with the receptionists and the attitude they had, as if they really didn't want to be there right now but they had to be, but you know.... I can see why. Their boss is a crude, inconsiderate slimeball. If I had a boss that yelled at me and my co-workers in an unprofessional matter, in front of the waiting room, making a scene for everyone, I wouldn't be happy to work at my job there either!! Mind you, this happened about forty minutes into the long wait I had before actually being seen. My appointment was at 2:15, I didn't get called back until about 3:30. That's insane. I understand that things happen, but come on, guys, over an hour to wait for a scheduled appointment is ridiculous. Wisner's bedside manner didn't save the appointment, either. Condescending, dismissive, it's very clear he's doing this for the paycheck, not for the patient, and that's a formula for THE WORST kind of doctor. I have been seeing Dr. Wisner for a few years now. I would recommend him highly. He is a great surgeon and very knowledge in his profession. I had seen multiple doctors before Dr. Wisner and all told me they could not help me. I was unable to move my right arm and had no strength in my hands. Once I started seeing Dr. Wisner he new right away what needed to be done. He first did a shoulder cuff repair and freed my arm. Then he did bilateral Carpal Tunnel release on both my hands. Hi then puts you right into Physical Therapy with in days of surgery. My arm is fully functioning now and my hand strength has doubled and I can left and hold onto things again. Life is better for me today because of this man. Dr. Wisner. He fights for his patients rights for medical treatment. I would much rather have a good surgeon any day of the week. Dr. Wisner and staff are one of the most busiest office in Lodi with several different cultures and take patient care very seriously. As patients, we might think all those xrays are not necessary but if he missed something the patient would be highly unhappy. So for all of you, we cant have it both ways. Dr. Wisner is probably the finest orthopedist in Northern California. Coming from the Medical field myself, I have no problem with frequent X-Rays. Things do change and sometimes too quickly, therefore I appreciate him being pro-active with medical issues. I have also known of him to catch Leukemia, such with a friend of mine when no other Doctor would listen to him. (When he wants to do extra lab work or more extensive testing, I say do it!). My friend is now receiving treatments and had it not been for Dr. Wisner who knows what may have happened..? The long wait times can be unfortunate, I say bring a good book. Dr. Wisner is a unique orthopedic Dr because he is so knowledgeable in what he does. I've never had an orthopedic Dr that can explain in detail about your knee or leg problems. He always demands the best ways to diagnose what needs to be done to correct your problems, and that usually means fighting with the insurance companies to do so. He has said to me that he needs all the detailed information so he can do what is necessary. The insurance companies always try to cut corners so that he can't do what's best for you. Trust him and you won't be sorry. His staff is great, and I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes to be seen. On occasion, I've had to cancel or change my appointment times, and they have always accommodated me with no fuss. read more

Fractured my C-7 playing high school football. Dr. Wisner took great care of not only myself but another family member of mine. Every time I make an appointment, I do have to wait 15-30 minutes, but I would rather wait a few minutes then go see some Dr. who I have never heard of and has no appointments on his schedule. The volume of their workload varies, you can start taking less clients, and you may still have the same outcome. Sometimes when I use to see 13 clients a day it would take longer then the 20 I had scheduled the day before. It all varies on every given day. All in all, great Dr. and a great man.... read more

Dr. Wisner has been caring for my mom for her issues that she's been having ever since I was a young boy. When my dad had his strokes- 2 of them, and his heart attack and my dad needed to have bilateral knee surgery, Dr. Wisner performed it for him, and he made sure to do a great job. My dad has aches and pains from growing old, but ever since he had those two surgeries, my dad has never complained of knee pain again. He had these surgeries when I was a toddler, and I'm now 23 years old, so that speaks a lot to how meticulous he is with his work, and how thorough and helpful his follow up appointments are in making sure his patients are recovering well and feeling great. After my very first experience with an Orthopedist here, i really dont ever want to go near one ever again. I am 25 years old, and unlike most of the people in there who i could just look at and say your bone problem is because you are old or obese who also have tons of free time, I on the other hand have very little. I had an appointment set for 2:30PM to have them look at my shoulder that I most likely injured lifting weights. Knowing i was going to have to fill out paperwork, i got there 10 minutes early. Everyone was friendly and nice....well the one at the counter which doesnt say much for the other 3 in the back huddled around the counter smiling and laughing about who knows what and on their phones. Lo and behold 2 hours later, i decided to leave. I had set an appointment, meaning if I am there, then i take precedence over the other patience at my appointment time and this was not honored in any way. There is even a sign that staes, "Do to the nature of orthopedist work, wait times can be long. Please be patient." Longer then normal? More like hell will freeze over before i get seen. So I just decided to get up and leave. I live in Stockton and takes about 25 minutes or so to get home. At 5:10PM, i received a call, from a blocked number mind you, that i did not answer. I checked the voicemail which said they were calling to see if i was outside because they were ready to see me. Appointment was set for 2:30PM, they called at 5:10PM, 2 hours and 40 minutes of waiting. Hopefully this helps anyone who gets sent here. read more

If I could give this guy -26362873 stars I would. I went with my mom to her appointment which was at 2:30 and we arrived at about 1:50. We sat there for HOURS. At 5:00 she still had at least an hour before she was even taken back for X-Rays. I also don't understand why every single patient old and new needs X-Rays done at every single visit, seems like he's a bit of a scammer to me. Regardless to say my mom was so angry and tired we left at 6:30 without meeting the doctor. Be prepared to wait anywhere from 2 to 6 hours from your appointment time. The doctor schedules patients, but does not show up in the office until hours after his first appointment arrives. You will be told not to ask the doctor questions! !! they will take x-rays every visit and they will have nothing to do with your injury. read more

This is by far the worst doctor I have ever come across in my life. I went there Wed 10/26 for my 5 year old daughter who fractured her elbow. We were referred to him by here primary care dr. Went there on Wed her appt was at 3pm. I arrived around 2:40pm because she is a new patient. When we got there his front office staff was very rude and refused to see her with out a physical copy of her insurance card. I finally got them to agree to see her when I told them her father was bringing the card as we speak. We waited for 2 1/2 hrs for them to do xrays and then tell us the doctor wasn't even there and we had to come back tomorrow. So we made another appt for Thursday at 3pm. Again on Thursday I arrived around 2:40pm and asked them how long the wait would be since I was there the previous day for 2 1/2 hrs the front office lady was very rude and told me she is only the front office and cant help me but the dr is doing the best he can. I waited and waiting finally after an hour and a half they call her back to do more xrays... I asked why are they doing that when she just had xrays done 24hrs ago and the xray tech advised me that they need to do xrays every time she is seen at the office. I was upset about this because you are now exposing my child to unnecessary radiation. So we finally get back to the waiting after they xrays and I ask the lady upfront how much longer just so I can make arrangements for my 8 year old son that I also had with me, She told me it will be another few hours. I called my spouse to come pick up our son after work so he could get him home because at this point its 4:30pm. About 20 or so mins later we are called back into the exam room. Dr. Wisner walks in a few mins later seeming very rushed and talking a mile a min, He was discussing my daughters xray with his nurse when my spouse called to tell me he was there and to send our son out. I gave the phone to my son to answer so I wasn't being rude while the dr was in the room. Dr. Wisner proceeds to turn around and start yelling and saying how dare he be interrupted while hes speaking and how rude we were. I explained to him that his dad was here and I was just opening the door so he could go to the waiting room. Dr. Wisner continued to scream at me as started curing at me saying this is bullshit and he doesn't have time for my shit, what kind of people are we, he doesn't care how long we have waited we are on him time, etc. At the point my children were terrified; my daughter is curled up in a ball on the chair and my son with is hands over his ears is backed into the corner of the wall. After seeing that I made the choice to grab then and just leave the situation and find a new ortho. As I told my children lets go this doctor stepped in the door way still yelling and wouldn't let me or my kids out of the exam room. I told him we are leaving and are not going to be seen by him we will find someone new. He said we wont find anyone as good as him and we cant leave. I asked him to move out of my way and he said no he trying to exam his patient. I used my shoulder to push him out of the door way and push my kids and self out of the room. I DO NOT recommend anyone go see this so called doctor especially if you have children. He is rude and crazy. Very unprofessional and has a serious God-complex. He needs to be banned from practicing medicine and his practice closed. I work with doctors day in and day out in my job field and I have never come across someone so unprofessional and rude. read more

Having been involved in customer service for decades I was really impressed with his office and specifically his attention to my daughter. He took the time to listen, made her feel comfortable, and made the overall experience positive. This appt. was for my 87 year old mother who broke her neck & arm in a car accident 15 mos. ago, all of her appts. in that time have been like this for her, so I went along to see where things stand. There were 7 patients waiting ahead of us, every single one had x-rays taken before they saw the Dr., my mother as well. However, they did not x-ray her neck, they x-rayed her back and hips, which had been x-rayed at her previous appt. They were supposed to set-up an MRI after that appt. but had not done it, they were supposed to do it again after this appt. too but 3 weeks later they have failed to do so. We are changing to a different orthopaedic surgeon that values his patients unlike Dr. Wisner. This is how patients need to respond to a Dr. Like this, with their feet, don't tolerate the abuse and indifference. 3/8/13 I was just contacted by Dr. Wisner's office telling me I had to remove my review or they were going to contact their attorney. I also read two other reviews written about Dr. Wisner and one review certainly took me to task for my review. All I can report is what my mother and I experienced that day and what she had experienced on previous visits. It is not my business how other patients have been treated and from the two other reviewers it seems like they have had different experiences and I am happy for them. Again, I am only reporting what we experienced and in no way is this "falsified". This is without a doubt the worst medical practice I've ever seen. The waiting room was full of depressed looking people with every single seat filled and literally nowhere to sit. They had all been there 2,3,or 4+ hours. These people will make an "appointment" for you and then tell you it'll be "about an hour" when the reality is there are 12 people ahead of you and you will be waiting more than four hours at minimum. The issue I have with that is that it prevents you from going to a doctor that actually keeps appointments and doesnt just book 20 bodies at a time and make them wait all day. If they would have just been honest with me I could've gone somewhere more competent. the staff is rude and with good reason. I'm sure every patient starts getting really cranky after spending all day in a cramped office with no hope of being seen. read more

I learned to pack a lunch/dinner before going to his office. It was not unusual to wait 3 1/2 hours after my appt time. If you try to tell him what is going on, he gets totally upset with you. He is absolutely THE RUDEST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER MET BOTH TO PATIENTS AND STAFF. And I know why he is always so late. When I had my surgery on my knee, it was 11:00 am. He had a full waiting room of people at the same time. He constantly yells at his patients and staff. I was appalled at seeing this both to his staff and me. He also charged my insurance co like $1,100 to take out 2 stitches. That should tell you something.
