The hard drive was failing and an IT tech recommended having it "imaged," which would result in an exact duplicate that would not require any software reauthentication. He also recommended Tech Care as the folks to do it. They initially tried doing an automatic imaging, which didn't take, so they attempted to manually image it and were successful. The computer now has a more reliable SSD drive (no moving parts) and it indeed works exactly as it used to (only faster).
