Just stopped by Excel Automotive on my way home from work with a pregnant wife that is due to give birth any minute. The guys went out of their way to get us home in the heat with the AC fixed at closing time with no previous history of doing business with me. It's safe to say that I'll be using them in the future for my main vehicles and not just my work van. read more

I took my 2014 VW Jetta in for it's 100,000 mile service just days before I was going drive across the country. I was a little concerned about a big service event so close to my trip. My worries were unwarranted. Shortly after dropping off the car the Excel team emailed me a list (with prices) of items in need of attention, including some nuisance things I'd learned to live with. I selected the work I wanted done (everything) and picked the car up the next day. The trip went flawlessly as well as the subsequent 2,500 miles. Great work guys! They will definitely be seeing my Jetta again for it's 120,000 mile service. read more

I heard of this place through a coworker so I decided to try them out with my 2008 Lexus LS 460 ..it currently has the abs, traction control light and one other light illuminated on my dash. I've never been a person that can ride around with lights on my dash so I decided to get it fixed..I called Cliff at Excel around the time when Houston was dealing with the freeze, and he said his shop was backed up due to the freeze but let him check the availability at his other location...they were available so I took my car the next day...when I arrived at this location, I was greeted by a friendly guy named Chris...he explained everything and told me he would be in touch with me, as they learn what's causing the issues with my car..so in the process, I received a few calls from Chris stating he thinks it needs this part, then that part and another part. By now the bill is at $2900 and then he says he thinks this other part that cost $3400 will probably fix the issue...I stopped at $2900 and told him to put my car back together so I can pick it up. He called me the next day to say it was put back together and my car was fixed.. I was pleasantly surprised that it was fixed, so gladly picked it up later that evening...I only drive this car to work, 22 miles a day..one month after the repairs and $2900 bill, all the lights were back on..I reached out to Chris to let him know and he asked me to bring it back to him so they can make sure none of the parts they installed had failed...I informed him that I would bring it back on my next vacation which was the April 14 week...dropped it off per Chris on the 15th ..I picked it up today 4/17 and the lights are still on..they assured me that the parts they changed out were necessary, but somehow it's hard for my brain to calculate that since the parts didn't fix anything...I feel like I drove all the way from Humble to the SW side to drop off $2900 for absolutely nothing...from the first visit thru this visit of this shop, they've had my car for 2 weeks...I'm not telling anyone not to go to this shop, just understand they will play the guessing game with you if you allow them...I will not be going back to this place ever again... read more

Excel Automotive Technology is a trusted 5 star auto repair shop. I brought my son's car for State Inspection and Air Conditioner Repair for the first time. Jay the owner provided the details of potential AC issues and what could be done to fix it with actual repair price. Once work was done, he explained what was causing AC issues and how it was repaired. I really appreciate his above and beyond customer service. Martha at the front desk is amazing. She took care of my appointment even it was a last moment request. I brought my car in at 7:30am and repair was done before 9am. She is very friendly and I enjoyed talking with her. Excel Automotive Technology is highly recommended auto repair shop and I will definitely visit them again when repair / service is needed. read more

I have 3 cars and have been bringing them here for the past few years. I'm always apprehensive when it comes to service/repair companies as there are so many scammers out there. If you're looking for a repair shop you can trust. has integrity, and stands behind their work, then you have found them. Jay and Martha have got to be the most pleasant business owners to work with. Excel always puts the customer first and makes recommendations to save you money not what will earn them the most. read more

I have been a long-time customer of excel automotive and I have always found them to do a great job with all my vehicles. They have always been fair with me doing the work for a reasonable price. They have gone the extra mile more than once when it came to warranty work on my vehicles going back to the manufacturer and fighting for what was right. It is nice to have a place I can trust to work on my vehicles. I would and have recommended them mini times. read more

I have no idea why it's taken me so long to review Excel... everyone in my family (even ex-family members) have been going to Jay for years. Not only is Jay absolutely the nicest, most kind-hearted person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, he (and his team) are also very efficient and accurate. I couldn't tell you how many times we've left our cars to the care of Jay.. and all different kinds, too. From a beat-up ford ranger to an aging Jaguar to a new Infinity, Honda and Z, he's tackled them all. He even fully restored my mom's old VW Bug from her high school days. I'm confident it looks better now than it did decades ago. Most importantly, at least for me, is how honest and forthcoming they are. For what it's worth, Jay is a religious man and I don't know about you, but I would rather leave my car with someone with a strong moral and spiritual compass than with someone who's only in it to make a buck. Just saying. Being a girl, I hate going to dealership service departments and other auto places, because I feel like people are constantly trying to take advantage of your trust. 'You need new tires... you need a new cabin filter... you need blah, blah, blah.' Even if it's true, I always second guess it, but usually cave in the end. With Jay, I know he will NEVER tell me I need to pay for an unnecessary service and, in the past, has even pointed out opportunities for me to save money regarding certain repairs. I know there's no where else in town we would or will ever be bringing our cars. read more

I had curb rub damage to two of my wheels, one very bad all the way around. This place is amazing. Period. Anytime I have vehicle related issues I absolutely dread taking it anywhere even just for an oil change! I feel like everyone is always out to scam you out of as much money as possible. Not here! First off Jay is amazing. Friendly, down to earth, and above all HONEST. As soon as I showed him my problem his first response was to save me some money and provide me with a cheaper alternative to my body work. Something he wasn't even going to make much money off of if any at all. But once again he laid out all my options up front, just like that. In my experience that's unheard of. I usually get told the most expensive option first and feel like it's take it or leave it. Truth be told the shop down the street quoted me three TIMES the amount Jay did and would have taken longer. Money is not an issue for me, I will spend what is necessary. But in the automotive world the lines are too blurry and it leaves a lot of room to be taken advantage of, something which I DO have a problem with. If Jay would have told me it would cost me ten times that amount, I would still have gone with him because of the level of trust I had that he would do the right thing no matter what. And that my friends is something you cannot put a price tag on! Five stars hands down, I am a customer for life. read more

Nissan Maxima - 2010 - Rotor Repair & Checked Brake Pads First time using Jay and Excel Automotive Technology. I am very pleased! I dropped off my car this morning at 7:15 a.m., the owner, Jay, drove me to work in the Greenway Plaza area, where I was at my desk before 7:30 a.m. He called a couple of hours later explaining the recommended repairs and the cost. I accepted the recommendation, and at approximately 1:30 p.m. my car was finished. Jay picked me up at work, drove me back to the shop, and I picked up my car. Very convenient, easy going, no nonsense, respectful. As a single woman, I was concerned there would be the predictable upsell or "your car won't make it around the block" comment, but he was very respectful and straightfoward. My car drives great, and I would absolutely recommend his shop for anyone needing repairs. I'm so relieved to know I have a good mechanic on call now. read more

When someone treats you well, you want to return the favor so I will do so with a fantastic review. In my case, Jay Meir of Excel Automotive saved me over $600, 3 days of my time and plenty of inconvenience. Let me explain. My vehicle driver door began to make a very loud popping noise every time it was opened or closed. I contacted Sterling McCall Toyota (the dealership where it was purchased) and they told me it was beyond their onsite repair and needed to be taken to the Sterling McCall Restoration Center. There I was told it was a weld that had come loose inside the door. The repair would be $500 and three days of car rentals while the repair was being done. Needless to say I didn't schedule the repair. Searches resulted in many shops that could do this extensive welding repair, but few had more than a 3-star review. Excel Automotive Technology was not only close, but had many exceptional reviews from very satisfied customers. I stopped in after work today. Jay took one look, said "I'll be right back." and walked off to grab tools. He returned, worked on the door (hinge area) for a couple minutes, stood up and asked me to shut the door. It was fixed. Yes, fixed. He said he's seen the problem before with Toyota's. (He replaced a nut (or bolt?) that helps hold the arm in place that had loosened and fallen off. I asked him what I owed him and he said "Nothing." and smiled. "But you saved me over $600!" Again, he said oh, it's nothing and smiled. As I glance down at their business card I see that it says, "Where quality comes second...only to honesty." Thank you Excel Automotive. Thank you Jay Meir. You have gained a new customer. read more

This is second time I brought my car to Mr. Jay's shop. He checked the car told me what was wrong with it, gave me the price, and fixed it on time. Always professional, honest, and friendly. Shop is always neat and clean. Suggest anybody to go and try it read more

Jay is such an honest person. I trust him with all of my automotive needs. He helps you as quick as possible and is very trustworthy.

Jay and his team are second to none. I've gone to grungy independent shops and fancy dealerships, and this is the just-right best of both worlds. You get the one-on-one attention of the smaller business, but the quality, honesty and professionalism that honestly beats the dealership experience. I enjoyed the 90 minute wait for my maintenance utilizing their wifi to get some work done in their air conditioned office. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff, fair prices. Can't go wrong. read more

The owner Jay is extremely knowledgable and also very trustworthy. I've taken my car in 3 times here and each time he explains exactly what going on with my car and will show the test results to me. His expertise and ability to show you WHY your car is acting up proves his honesty and credibility. He typically asks you to drop off your car in the morning and leave it for the day so he can take his time on it. His staff member will always take you to where you need to go and is happy to pick you up once your car is finished. Now THAT'S top notch customer service. read more

I have the same great things to say about the owner, Jay. He walked me through the steps that he was going to take to address the issues I was having with my a/c. One of his employees also took me to another location so I could go about my day. The prices are reasonable and I know that they will do good work on my car, so I don't mind paying a little extra. I would definitely use Excel Automotive again and I would recommend this to anyone looking for great service and know they won't get jipped. read more

Martha and Jay are amazing. Top quality all the way--they have told me that I don't need something for my Subaru Forester when my neurotic self kind of insists (be it oil change or brakes or whatever). I took my car in for an issue that had been diagnosed by a dealership that wanted to rip me off on the repair. I knew enough about what was required to know that they were attempting to overcharge me by quite a bit. I decided to give Jay and Excel a try, and I am very glad I did. I told them what the repair was that would be required, but Jay asked permission to double-check in case he could find that the problem could be resolved with a less expensive solution. As it turned out the dealer diagnosis was correct, but I still spent about 60% less at Excel. More importantly, I was left feeling good that I had the work performed by someone who is honest and who cares about his customer. read more

Hands down the most honest and trusting service I have received. I have been a customer for over 5 years and I recommend Excel TO EVERYONE!

It took over 45 minutes for an oil change that I had called and made an appointment for. There was nothing wrong with my car and no other customers there also. I was also treated coldly when I politely asked how much longer it would take after 35 minutes waiting. read more

I was recommended by a friend and it's the best car service I have ever had hands down! Jay is extremely honest and fair. He even took me underneath my car to show me what was wrong and took the time to explain to me what they would be doing. I will forever be a loyal customer to these guys! read more

I took my car to Excel based on the strong recommendation of family members. My Acura TSX needed brakes, a belt, oil change, transmission fluid change, and spark plugs - all that work was done in 1 day (in fact, they had my car ready earlier than I expected) and at a very reasonable price. My car is running great and no more squeaky brakes. I have patronized a lot of auto repair shops around Houston and Excel Automotive rates at the very top. read more

Won't take my car anywhere else. Honest, friendly, reliable. I trust Excel to get it done, get it done right...

I recently wrote a review for Excel on Google and Excel's website but I am so excited to have actually found a knowledgeable, honest and caring auto mechanic that I want to make sure people know where to take their auto problems to a mechanic shop that actually cares about their customer! I found this mechanic through another of his customer that ran into my car and had it fixed at Excel. It was the luckiest car accident I've ever had. Not only did he fix my car (his other client paid for it), but he noticed a bunch of dings on my car and said he could order the matching paint and take care of them. And, he noticed that my shield was hanging from the front bumper that a previous mechanic had negligently left half off. When I went to pick the car up, he gave me the paint pen for future dings - I didn't spend one cent on anything! Jay was so sweet and helpful that when I had another problem with my car, I decided to take it back to him instead of the dealership. Again, he found a couple of problems, one of which I attributed to the previous mechanic. I dreaded picking up the car because I thought it was going to be high-dollar job. The cost was so reasonable that I couldn't believe it! So, people, feel 100% comfortable taking your vehicle to Jay - you won't find better care, more knowledge and honesty than at Excel Automotive Technology at 5621 Schumacher Lane, 832-975-8117. It took me 75 years to find a mechanic that I can totally trust in expertise and financially! I'm making sure my family and friends take their vehicles to Excel Automotive Technology! read more

This garage earned my business because of the way I was treated from the very first phone call. Unlike the first garage who wouldn't give me an "estimate" of the repairs I needed done, saying they would "have to look at it first"...un hunh....Excel gave me a quote over the phone. I had the parts I needed priced already on my own before I even called and that price was the same Excel quoted me on..... Complete with the estimate I received, they were spot on with the bill. I took my car into them at 12 minutes after 8 for the rear suspension. About four to four and a half hours later I received a phone call that my car was finished. Excel took the time and answered several questions I had regarding future repairs, and I was even able to look at the old parts that came off. (I just wanted to see just HOW bad my old shock was leaking). Over the years I have always waited with my vehicle while something was being repaired, however Excel is just open M-F, not on the weekends, which didn't really coincide with my schedule. I still went there though because every review I read had nothing but positive things to say about the business. They will have me as a loyal customer from now on if it is something I cannot fix on my own. I highly recommend this garage if you want honesty integrity and professionalism!! read more
