I love this salon! I came to Melonie a few weeks before my wedding wanting to get extensions. She was great at explaining everything to me. She cuts straight to the point and doesn't mess around with her words, which is something I really value. She is not there to up sell you on anything. She is there to do her job and do it right. Might be a good place for extensions as I can read here but don't go when you have problems/ medical conditions with your scalp and permanently losing some hair. One thing to make you feel better are hair extensions. I know it's not a permanent solution but it helps a woman feel good again for a while. So I took a consultation appointment with Melonie. I arrived 15 minutes early and asked if I should come back as she was with a client. Response was no. So I sat down and waited. While she was still with a client I was told that I was squeezed in anyways for my consultation. Makes you feel already rushed and unwanted. So this was my first visit to have my hair colored at Melonie's Beauty Queen Salon. I was a little apprehensive, as I had been going to the same salon for many years. But she made me feel very comfortable in assuring me that the products she used were of the same quality I had been using. We browsed through her hair color samples choosing a color that worked with my skin color. The initial color I had chosen was not compatible with my hair texture and as Melonie explained what color would work the best, I felt even more comfortable. The end results were absolutely perfect! Two words for Melonie..."The BEST!" I've been getting extensions for about 10 years and just recently moved into the area. Found her ad on Craig's list then checked out the Yelp reviews and gave her a call. I can honetly say that she did the most outstanding job, for the best price I have ever been charged for extensions. The line on my head where she sewed the extensions in was so flat you can barely feel it. And she included cutting and blending in her price! Couldn't believe it! And even though she insisted that she was not a colorist, she color-corrected my self-died brassy highlighting job so my hair blended PERFECTLY with the extensions. Total bonus! Side note to the Yelper who made the nasty comments about her daughter being there..Get over yourself! I went on a Saturday and her beautiful daughter was there. She sat quietly in a chair looking at things to read or napped and was an angel! I could not recommend Melonie more highly. Absolutely outstanding job at an absolutely fantastic price. Melonie is the best. After receiving what is my worst haircut to date from another hair stylist. (Somehow keeping my mid-back length with long layers was translated to chest length cut with ear length layers---NOT a good look with curly hair) I spent 3 days crying on and off because I didn't know what to do. I was scared of the maintenance of extensions and of being bullied into cutting more or more color or whatever someone else thought I should look like. Based on the wonderful things I read on yelp, I contacted Melonie about a consult. She spent 30 minutes explaining the maintenance, and then walked with me down to the hair store to buy the hair. I had a full meltdown in the hair store, I just started crying because I didn't know if the curl in the extensions would match my real hair, would this is even be worth it. Melonie was patient while I collected myself and made my decision. She remained straightforward about what she did and did not know about the hair options they sold, and the type of maintenance required of me to keep my own hair healthy as well. I went with the hair she suggested, she seemed confident that it would curl to match my curls because the extensions take on some of the qualities of your real hair. Being totally brand new to extensions I don't know anything about them. After about two hours all of the hair was sewn in, she totally soaked it and then just used mousse to let me style it the way I normally would while detailing a straightforward maintenance routine even I (extremely challenged with all hair tools) could manage. It's been almost a week now and I LOVE MY HAIR. I swear this woman is a miracle worker. I don't think I'm ever going to let anyone else touch my hair again. The curls, the color, where the tracks are, my hair looks like the best version of itself. If you are anywhere in the Bay Area or anywhere remotely close by just call and go get the best head of hair you can possibly have. read more

I'm a little late in writing this review but melonie did my extensions at the beginning of the month and I have to say.... I am impressed. I've had my hair extensions done before by someone who claimed to do celebrity hair before but even at that others pale in comparison to the work melonie does. Not a SINGLE extension has fallen out (I chose the micro bead installation) and the thing I still can't wrap my mind around is she used less hair than the previous stylist and somehow it looks fuller, better and more blended! She literally used 1/3rd of the hair I brought to her and it doesn't even look like I have extensions on and I have a TON of volume in my natural hair. She's an expert in her placement and has been doing this a long time I will happily drive an hour to know my hair is in good hands and won't be going to anyone else for my hair extensions again. I really feel like I can trust her not like other stylists that will try to cheat you into spending more money.. She charges very reasonable prices for what she does and seems really honest, she even gave me a tool she never used to create my own itip hair extensions!!. I've been around the block and back when it comes to my hair and it feels so good to be able to say I found the perfect stylist. I would recommend her to anyone! One last thing that I have to say is when I got my extensions put in before it was so painful I was almost tempted to take them out. Let me start off by saying, Melonie truely has a passion for hair and her number one goal is that her clients are 100% satisfied which is always the case. She has been doing my hair for years now, I wouldn't let anyone else touch my hair but Melonie! I had resently read a review from a yelper by the name of ALLE.M who wrote a bad review, not only did she write a bad review but i feel that was rude of her to go on and on about her expierance with Melonie and her alledgly being " unprofessional". I highly doubt that Melonie would take time out of her busy schedule to call someone and harass them. I have never expieranced or saw Melanie have this type of behavior in my five years of knowing her professionally and personally. I just think that this person by the name of ALLE. M was trying to be malisious and cunning by trying to give her a bad review because all of her reviews are possitive reviews from people who have actually been her clients for years. So she needs to take her broke behind to one of the "ghetto" salons that she was talking about (not Melonies) but somwhere that her broke behind can afford. Obviously this was too much for her so she wants to complain about her extenions and get her money back. Shes the one that's "Ghetto" and doing charge backs.
