She is not only hella cool and down to earth but she is a hell of a stylist! She shows me tutorials on how to dry and style my hair to get it the way I like it. I was initially referred to this salon from a family friend. I sent my son there first because he wanted something better than what two places did with his hair. He was so satisfied with the stylist that I thought I should try. When my friend retired from the hair business I had to go somewhere, so I decided to try this place first. I was very relieved. It's sort of like trying to find the right mechanic that you can trust and feel like integrity is important. I like the casual atmosphere that is not typical in Los Gatos Salons. I made that mistake a long time ago trying a couple of local places (before finding my san jose person who retired) and didn't understand why the stylists acted like I should be privileged to have them do my hair. They were so snobby and pretty much average overall but charged way above average prices. Very accommodating for my issues with claustrophobia in a way that made me feel like this place is not only professional, highly skilled stylists but very kind too. Cost is local pricing but service is so much better than I've experienced in Los Gatos in the last decade anywhere. I have two friends that are going to book there now because if you're going to pay for a good cut/color you might as well get someone with some personality. read more

I asked for a small trim with long layers to keep my length and now 5 inches of my hair is gone. She would cut my hair without even looking while she talked to other employees and didn't bother to part my hair correctly so now it's uneven. I was gravely disappointed after all the rants and raves from family members. I had my haircut in Aug. 2012 which had to be redone before I left. I left with a big poof ball as a hair cut. O'well it'll grow out I said and so it has. When my sister found out I went there she called me crazy as she had her hair styled by Lisa for a wedding and to her dismay it didn't hold up or look good and it was way overpriced. Recently two other people I know went in for cut and color. Oh my!!! Really??? For the price you'd expect perfection, knowledge and from the raves you'd think you were in Europe! Well had I known my friends were going there I would have stopped them. The cut was a bowl cut, suppose to be European short layers style and as she had just returned from Europe it should not have been hard to copy. YIKES not only did the cut disappoint the the highlights left a lot to be desired as blond turned to a piss grey. As I worked to repair my friends color I saw the MANY imperfections in application along the way! My other friend was asked by her normal stylist if a 2 year old cut her hair and how did this lady get a license. I actually asked myself the same after my experience. I found it annoying to be tossed around from 1 assistant to another as she tried to juggle her schedule. Very disappointed and I know 4 of us that will never return! read more

This review is for Nicole. I was with Meredith for 10 years when it was Salon Mona Lisa, very happy with her and she always got my cut and color right. My color is base with highlights/lowlights. Sadly, Meredith left after her twin girls were born. I left for a bit and then came back to Nicole. She used Meredith's formula for my color, however I left with my hair way darker than previously. When I called her to say that the color wasn't right she said she would add highlights so I went back the next day (maybe a mistake). As I was in the chair she said to another stylist that she must have put in too much lowlights and not enough highlights - ya think? In hindsight, I should have just left it the dark color she initially did, but I wasn't happy. Long and short is she totally fried my hair! It has been breaking and falling out since she did my color 2 months ago. Totally damaged and have been considering cutting it short since (and my hair is already short!).... Nicole does decent hair cuts but I would think twice if you are considering having her do your color. read more

I visited Meredith on a recommendation from a friend. I already have a gal in Los Gatos that I think does great job & is super friendly but her schedule was booked the week I wanted my cut. So, I went to Meredith. SO GLAD I did! She's awesome. I have a massive amount of hair and it isn't easy to work on. Meredith did so with grace and friendliness. She's the kind of stylist that welcomes you into her chair and chats when the moment is right...doesn't chat when it isn't necessary. There's nothing worse than being in a chair, held prisoner to a stylist who you just don't want to talk to. Meredith is not that person. She's awesome. My hair? Awesome! Without being pushy or aggressive, she saw my hair and provided some recommendations to help bring it back to life. I leaned on her expertise and voila -- my hair looked alive again! A trim, a simple color (I had highlights that needed to go), and a condition. I actually got my hair done for an event a few weeks later and received compliments for the awesome cut. I go to this salon every few months and whenever I go, I always see Rachel. I have been going to her for over 2 years and I absolutely LOVE the way she cuts and colors my hair!
