No suggestions or anything but will flat out dismiss your inquiry. I do not recommend reaching out for a consultation via yelp or texting them for a consultation. Ly definitely lives up to all of her 5 star reviews. I can see why she is booked out way in advance, but the wait is worth it. Recently, I had a baby, which means I could not do anything to my hair for at least 9 months. My hair was also really damaged from the Balyage and digital perms that I've had in the past. Poor Ly had to deal with my stubborn gray hair, fried ends from the previous bleach, and an unsightly color demarcation line between my grown out roots and the bleached out hair below. It was a hot mess, but Ly took her time to discuss the options with me. She takes into account how much free time I have to maintain the color, which I appreciate, since I'm usually pretty busy. Ly listened to all of my concerns, and what I wanted to do with my hair in the future. It was great that she came up with a plan that made my hair color look natural, and is relatively low maintenance. Ly's salon is gorgeous, modern, and clean. She was very attentive to make sure that I was comfortable at all times. I even fell asleep during the processing because it was such a relaxing environment. The ONLY place I go to cut my hair! I tend to scare away from getting a haircut because I tend to do too much and don't like it or not enough and feel like I wasted an appointment. I went to Ly for the first time about six months ago and told her that I wanted to go short, not too short where I couldn't pull it back, with some layers but not too many (I know, I'm such a pain!). I showed her some pictures that I liked and she was able to take those ideas and create a cut that had a similar look but would also fit my face right. She pays great attention to detail! (@hairbylytran) I texted her for an appointment, and she got back to me within 24 hours with her next availability. She books out very fast, so I recommend booking up to a month in advance. She will ask you to send pictures of your current hair and a few inspo pics of what you are looking to get done. If you're looking to get a color correction or if your hair was previously colored, I strongly recommend doing an in-person consult. Ly is extremely knowledgeable and will be very realistic and upfront about what she can do while still maintaining the integrity of your hair. Since my hair was mostly virgin, she reassured me that the color job I wanted was totally do-able :) During appointment: I arrived at 10 am on a Saturday morning and waited until she was finished with her previous client. Keep in mind that Ly does her best to stay on time, however she is often juggling multiple clients in a day, and may be running late depending on her schedule. A typical coloring job can take anywhere between 5-7 hours. There are plenty of nearby cafes and stores to kill time, or you can always bring a laptop and do some work! My natural hair is dark brown and I wanted to get an ash blonde/brown blonde color. Although I did show Ly a few inspo pics, I told her that I was open to whatever color she thought would look the best. The bleach application took a little over 2 hours (for chest length hair), and then I was left to process for about another 2 hours. During this time, Ly was very happy with the way my hair was lifting, and recommended that we go lighter and chose a color that would compliment my skin-tone. I had full faith in her, so I told her to go for it! Result: I'm sooo in love with my hair color and have received so many compliments!! It's been about 3 months since I got it done, and my hair texture and color still looks great. Ly does a great job of educating you on how to maintain your color and gives recommendations on products to use. Pricing: I've colored my hair plenty of times at other salons at half the price, but let me tell you... the results did not come anywhere close to what Ly was able to do. Her pricing is very realistic and true to the effort and time that she puts in. From the start, you can tell that she is extremely talented and passionate about her craft and genuinely cares about her clients. Ly is one of the most talented hair colorist and stylist there is! I was so so lucky to have booked an appointment with her but you have to act fast! She's usually booked up two-three months advance (this was pre-COVID, May change after limited availability with new restrictions after Covid). My advice is that even if you don't feel like you want to do anything to your hair, do yourself a favor and just book it because you won't regret it in three months when we are able to get an appointment with her! One of the best compliments that I totally agreed with was that my hair still looked so good when it was straight. This review is way overdue and much deserved. I've entrusted Ly with my hair since 2017 and she has never let me down. I come in every 4-6 months with a couple cut/color inspo pics and I draw from her expertise to come up with something that works best for me. I usually take the afternoon off to allow her to work without rushing. She does a meticulous job and she's easy to converse with. She has great tips on how to care and prolong hair color. She doesn't come cheap but the outcome is worth every penny. My last visit with Ly was October 2019. I found Ly on Yelp after my other stylist went on indefinite maternity leave, and I asked if she could give me a totally different look, because I've had the same ombre/balayage style and color for the last like, two years. Booking on StyleSeat was super easy, and I sent a few pictures that she replied to via text and email the same day. The Saturday I went in, we went over some options, and decided that we could bleach out all my hair, cut it, and retone it a pretty ashy color. Because I'd already bleached out the ends of my hair several times though, this ended up taking way longer and being more difficult than we imagined, but she was extremely patient and careful the entire time to ensure that I was comfortable and that my hair would stay healthy. Not gonna lie, in the end we were there for a total of almost ten hours. The end result was absolutely gorgeous though, and I really can't believe that she got it perfect instead of rushing it because I'm sure it was exhausting. I mean, I just sat in the chair all day and that was exhausting, but she was working the whole time. I think the icing on the cake was that after a week, a lot of the original pretty violet toner color washed out to a strange looking blonde (still pretty, but not as flattering for my skin tone) and she fixed it for free and even added a splash of color the very next day after I texted her. There aren't many stylists who care the way Ly does about their work as an art, and their clients. I honestly don't think I could've hung out with another stylist for that long. Because it looks kinda bad straight" PRO TIP: If you wear your hair straight, avoid this place like the PLAGUE. The curliness of the hair in her staged, ring-light client photos hides all the imperfections in her work. Thinking about dying my hair back to black because her work was SO CHOPPY and the color is SO UGLY. Like wtf is the bottom of my hair orange-red and the top completely jet black?! By far, the rudest, most untalented, and meanest hair stylist I've ever worked with. I've been to six balayage specialists in the past before and decided to try Ly because she was close to where I lived. BIG MISTAKE. I pulled up the picture of what I wanted (a soft, warm brunette), which I've shown to multiple stylists in the past before, and Ly promised to give me that hair color, but she gave me this ashy, ugly BLONDE color (she even admitted during the session that she put blonde in the color) instead. I told her that that wasn't the color I wanted and she retoned it to be this nasty, burnt orange shade WTF! I gave her the benefit of the doubt, but when I woke up the next day, I hated my color. I went back to her and she basically told me to use a shampoo to wash off all the color so I could start the process with a new salon again in three months. Horrible, horrible service and the worst hairstylist I've ever been to. As a former Yelp Elite (2016, 2017, 2018), I have never given a 1 star to a hairstylist before, and I usually leave 5 stars for my homegirls (who I see until I move away) but Ly is the worst, most unskilled hairstylist I've ever been to. Most definitely not worth the $380+ she charges. Avoid this scammer at all costs. In response to Ly: I never once asked for a refund. Even if you had offered me one, I would never have accepted. Money is not the issue. Principle is. The issue is that every customer deserves the right to know if they are going to get what they asked for and if someone is going to BOTCH their hair, especially for something that means so much to someone and that is very difficult to change. I found Ly about 1.5/2 years ago and wished I had found her earlier when I moved to the Bay Area! The first time Ly cut my hair, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I told her what I liked, didn't liked, and shared my ideas with her. She's so caring and talented - she listened to everything I said and then provided me her recommendations and advice. I took the leap of faith and just went with her advice, in the end, my hair cut turned out amazing and I loved it. She also taught me how to style it because- I usually don't know how to do anything with my hair. I tend to let my hair grow out for almost half a year before my next cut (even though I probably should be getting a trim every 3-4months for healthy hair) but my hair grew out amazing with Ly's cut. Ly is the best hairstylist I've come across in my life! She is talented, kind, and detail oriented. I came in for a haircut asking for long layers. She asked me how I usually style my hair. I told her I don't usually heat style, I just wear it air dried/ natural unless I have something special going on. She told me in that case, it would be best if she cut my hair dry rather than wet/ damp so she can assess how my hair would fall naturally without styling. It's been about two weeks since my haircut, and I am obsessed. It looks fuller and falls so beautifully! I wouldn't dream of getting my hair cut elsewhere. Highly recommend!!! read more

I called to make an apt here, but no one called me back, so i scheduled one by requesting an apt through their website, but still I never recieved a confirmation confirming they received my request, so i called them 2 days before my scheduled apt asking them to please confirm because I don't want to drive there and be turned away, so I called again and got their recording and I left another msg asking them to please respond to my messages regarding confirmation for my apt that was scheduled on that day, but I never recieved a call. Ly is a hair genie!!! She transformed my dry, damaged, split- end hair, into a masterpiece! Before my appointment, Ly reached out to me about what hair color I was interested in. I sent her pictures of what I wanted and also a recent picture of my hair. She briefly explained over text that she will try to get my color as close to what I wanted but with every client, the color results would be based on the texture and health of the hair. When I came into my appointment today, Ly took time out to do a thorough consult based on my hair texture and type. She never once hesitated to answer any question or concerns that I brought up. She was very professional and knowledgable about color, cut, techniques and products. While I was in her chair, I never felt that she was rushing the appointment (I was there for four hours). She is very meticulous and explains every step of the process. Ly not only gave my hair beautiful color but she made it healthy and brought it back to life! When I came home after my appointment today, my husband commented and said," you're hair looks great!" It's not often that he notices my hair so, when he does notice, it means that my stylist did something right! Thanks Ly!! I will definitely recommend her to family and friends. Ly is everything you want in a hairstylist and more! I am so impressed by her work ethic and absolutely in love with my hair. Throughout the process, Ly was SO informative with everything she was doing. From bleaching to toning to styling, I felt like I was absolutely informed of everything happening. I also felt like I had a lot of choice in these processes, and that Ly was extremely attentive to what I wanted. This was really important to me, since I had never done any special dying/work to my hair before! Throughout the process, you also get the sense that Ly is keeping her clients' best interests in mind; she informed me about the balayage options I could have to avoid the stark line once my hair grew out, she tried to get my hair as light as she could in one session, and she worked for 9 hours to take care that my hair was progressing the right way.
