I love how my hair extensions turned out!! I have wavy, thick hair and the hair Melonie had in her salon matched perfectly with the color and texture of my hair. I've had extensions a few times before, but never tried the sew in method. It's an interesting technique and looks/feels more natural than beads. I was looking for a place to get my extensions done for several months. A lot of other people were either super expensive, snooty or flaky. I'm so, so glad I stumbled on Melanie's website on craigslist. She is none of those things! When it comes to extensions, she knows what she is talking about! She is an expert when it comes to matching hair color too. My friends are so amazed with how well my natural hair blends with the extensions. She really went above and beyond for me. A few nights before the extensions were done I was stressing over not being able to reach someone to color my hair. Even though that's not what she normally does, she offered to do it for me. That was so sweet of her. Also, after almost 8 consecutive hours of her doing hair extensions ( someone one else was before me) she took the extra time to show me how to curl my new super long hair. I've been dreaming of longer hair for ages and, since I'm heading to Vegas in a few weeks, decided to just go for it! Being somewhat of a perfectionist (I'm definitely very picky), I did a lot of research before booking an appointment. I'm not ready to spend thousands of dollars on my hair just yet (probably never), so I was thrilled to find someone who was able to do beautiful work for a price that did not make me wince. lol. Melonie was able to fit me in for an appointment the same week I called. The salon that she works out of is really cozy and not far from the store where we went to buy the hair. We were able to quickly find a colour that matched my hair really well. I even got a discount on it because of her VIP status there. ;) I opted for braidless sew ins. As a first timer, this method appealed to me because it was a fast installation, doesn't seem to damage the natural air, and budget friendly. Melonie warned me that it would be painful for the first few days due to it being really tight. It does sting a bit when it is put in but that fades out fast. Expect some discomfort at least through the first night; I'm typing this the day after and it is starting to feel a lot more natural. She trimmed my hair to blend and styled it for some loose curls and by the end of my appointment, I was left with longer, luscious hair. :) Melonie is super friendly and genuine! You can tell she really cares and makes sure you are happy with what you get. She provided a lot of helpful tips on what to expect and how to take care of my new extensions. Because I came all the way from San Francisco (yes, people, it's worth the travel), she even gave me a ride back to the nearest lightrail station so I could get to my Caltrain transfer without having to find a cab--which I thought was really nice. As someone who rarely visits salons (my friends and I cut and colour our own hair), it was very pleasant to find a stylist to be so chill and down to earth. I can't wait to show off my new hair, and will be coming back in the future for sure. I'm very curious about the other techniques of extensions now and look forward to trying the links thingie once my wefted hair has run it's course. ;) Later that night, I went out with some friends who had brought along girls I had never met. After telling them my hair wasn't real, they said they would have never guessed! It looks so pretty and natural and I'm just stoked, really. I only had one pack installed and it already does wonders to the volume and length of my hair. Next time, I may be tempted to do a couple more to achieve that Victoria Secret's model status, haha. I know she's the best because while I was there she had a celebrity in there. Not only did I meet a celebrity but I also witnessed a YouTube video being made because of her amazing technique. She is fast and so I didn't feel like I was sitting there for a long time I've heard other people complain about how long extension take. I am very fortunate to have found Melonie & her salon. I have had an interesting journey with my hair. Lost it all due to chemo and am dealing with extremely short awkward hair growing out. I am new to extensions and have had a really awful experience getting extensions put in and then a really wonderful experience getting the bad extensions taken out (2 different salons) before finding Melonie. I've called people miracle workers before, but in Melonies case... It's 100% true. I've had hair extensions for 5+ years and have never had such a great experience. First off I called Mel on a random Wednesday afternoon and by total coincidence her last appointment had cancelled. She had already left for the day, but came back when I told her I would be interested in meeting her that evening. At 4pm I walked into her salon with short, dull, brown hair... and at 6pm I walked out with incredible, cut and styled, 20" locks. I am THRILLED!!!! Mel is really knowledgeable about hair extensions, and all the various kinds you can choose from. I was so excited to finally find a kind that would allow my hair to grow while I had them in, and not damage it in the process. She worked super fast and was totally enjoyable to talk to the whole time. She blended everything in so well that you would never know I had extensions - honestly. The colors are great, the cut is great, and I've already gotten compliments from friends, family, and a random Starbucks employee. Again... THRILLED! I would absolutely recommend Mel for anybody looking for extensions in the bay area. She is worth the drive and her prices are unbeatable (and I say that with years of going to salons in the bay under my belt). She's the best! read more

This review is on my experience with the hair color by Jorgete. I found this salon on yelp as I was looking to get extensions, and it had good reviews. I went in for a consultation with Melonie, who suggested that I get my hair dyed in order to get the color/style I was looking for in the extensions. Melonie informed me that Jorgete was the "hair expert'' that was now working at this salon. I waited and got a consultation with Jorgete. I showed her the picture I had as an example of what I was looking to achieve. I set an appointment. Here is where the nightmare began. I arrived a little early, and was waiting. Jorgete arrived and again looked at the picture I had of what I wanted done to my hair. My hair color was black. She explained that lifting dark hair is difficult and turnout is unpredictable. I understood this. She asked if I wanted my grey done; I said yes. In between washes, she took cigarette breaks and called her husband. This is fine, but I hate the smell of cigarettes. Then she comes back and continues washing my hair. From the initial start I felt she was in a hurry to get this done. She continues having her wine throughout the process. Hair is done, and dried, and OMG!! no, this is not what I was looking for. Not only this, but she tells me that she did not do grey coverage because I "wasn't clear" when she had asked. How much more clear is a "yes" when she asked! I couldn't believe this! The main reason I had held off dying my hair at home was because I knew I was going to get it dyed at the salon to go with the extensions. She saw that I was not happy, and I reminded her that I had said yes, but by this time I think the wine had gotten to her and she insisted that I said no. I can't argue with someone that's been drinking. More than trying to see how she could work with me, she emphasized how proud she was of her work and how nice my hair come out. She also stated that I was so picky and did not want any reds or yellows in my hair after the bleach. Again, that wine must have been good, because I did not say any of this. I'm sorry, but I did not go to the salon to get something that she liked, I went to try and get something that I was happy with. I have short hair, but she charged me $225.00; $25 was for a small bottle of some sort of conditioner. She told me that I could go the next day for root touch-up which started at $85.00. I have never paid this much for hair color even when I had long hair and I was getting highlights, nor have I ever had such a bad experience at any hair solon. read more

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures but trust me when I say my hair was sort of a disaster, and that the transformation was absolutely magical.
