I've been meaning to visit Evolve for Inner Peace for a while, and I finally had the chance when my grandnephews came to visit. They're curious, bright kids who love to learn, so I thought it would be fun to bring them to pick out crystals and ask about a mysterious rock that showed up in our yard--possibly a meteorite! When I looked at the website that morning and saw they had a music room, I was thrilled--I'm just beginning my own sound healing journey and have started collecting instruments like crystal singing bowls and Koshi chimes. What happened during our visit was something I couldn't have planned, and I'm still in awe of it. We were welcomed so warmly, and while we were browsing, my younger nephew found the music room and was greeted by the kindest soul--Chloe. She truly made our visit magical. Her kindness, passion, and care created a memory for us I will always treasure. The boys were fascinated by the instruments, and we all learned so much. I feel like the universe gifted us this moment--and it gave me a way to introduce my new passion to my family in such a natural and joyful way. We each left with meaningful stones, a deeper appreciation for the healing power of music, and a sense of connection that I hope continues to grow. Everyone we met was kind and helpful--but truly, the brightest gem in the whole shop was Chloe. Her energy, presence, and generosity of spirit turned our visit into something magical. I went into this shop last week. I was a bit disappointed with their book selection. I thought I would just pick up a tarot bag but for a one faux-plain velvet bag is was over $9 and the material was unraveling. I want to support local stores but I ended up ordering online through the evil empire (Amazon). For a little over $13 I received 9 bags with beautiful designs and better quality. What annoyed me most was no one was available to help... sort of. They greeted customers coming in but ignored me when I was looking for help before these customers entered. Did I look like I didn't have money? Did I not fit the mold of a Crystal Lake customer? They had some beautiful yoga cushions. The one I liked was missing a price tag. After trying to get someone's attention I finally just left. I could understand if it was very busy and they were short staffed but they weren't that busy. I don't know what the deal was but if they don't want my money I'll look to another independent shop. read more

Cute little shop. They have a ton of incense, essential oils, and accessories. They also have a lot of stones. I overheard the woman at the counter telling someone that they have a program where you buy so many stones over $1 and you get $2 off future purchases of stones, I think. They have some gemstone rings, silver chains, and pendants as well. I have some pendants from another shop I loved for which I've been seeking some chains, so if I come back up I'll have to bring them along. Pendulums, books, tarot cards, smudging sticks--if you're looking for something for spiritual or energy work you'll probably find it here. I have a friend who has a thing for elephants, and they had a lot of things that would have been lovely little gifts for her, so I probably will take a leisurely trip up from the city if I need a cute little something for her. They're located in Crystal Lake's downtown area, and as such are in the row of shops that is just by the Metra station. That makes it an easy (if somewhat long) trip from the city on the UPNW line. read more

I have reviewed this place before but with the amount of fake crystals being sold I wanted to let everyone know they can trust this place! I went this past Wednesday and saw some new clusters I have NEVER seen they were gorgeous! I couldn't believe they were real so I had to ask, the girl explained the Crystal is real but the process of making it shinny and colorful is man made I appreciate her knowledge and honesty! And note their prices are incredibly fair I saw that stone and had to look it up and for the size it was less expensive than most of the places I saw online! I don't live in Crystal, Lake but I was overwhelmed with how many wonderful spiritual items, healing tools and sound healing instruments this shop has to offer. I was deeply impressed with the hige collection of chakra bowls, gongs, and tibetan bowls and so I decided to purchase an adorable quartz chakra bowl today to add to my personal collection. If you love clearing sprays, chakra bowls, crystals, incense, candles and Himalayan salt lamps i encourage you to step inside this cute, spiritual store and indulge your senses. It was a genuine self treat for me and everything I wanted was easily accessible and reasonably priced. I definitely want to book a Cranial sacral massage and reiki healing the next time I visit because their healers seem genuinely gifted and certified which is important to me. I came here on a Friday a few weeks ago with my husband, he wanted to buy me some new jewelry. None of the rings were my style, so I settled on a necklace. The necklace was pretty, but it wasn't real gold, and didn't have the correct shade or yellow gold that matches the rest of my jewelry. I felt pressured to buy it, so we did. It was $65. I knew the moment we got home I wanted to return it. The women that helped me on the day I bought it were super nice. However, I decided to come back the following day and make a return. On that Friday, there were maybe 2 other people in the store and the incense was at a tolerable level. The next day, there were over 20 people in the store and a thick cloud of smoke covering the entire store. My lungs must not be very good, because i could barely breathe and I felt lightheaded, making me want to get out of there asap. I went to the front counter to make the return and a different woman helped me. She was very rude to me when I told her I'd like to make a return. I had the receipt and I had only worn the necklace once, I don't understand what her problem was. Anyway, she very cruelly said she couldn't refund my husband and instead gave me a gift certificate. I looked on the receipt, and no where did it say "no refunds", nor does it say that on their website or anywhere in the store (maybe I overlooked it but I doubt it). So why couldn't you refund my husband's card, which I brought, for almost $70? I wasn't going to sit there and argue with her so I took the certificate and left, all while holding my breath as much as possible. Not to mention there were children in there, and what about people with asthma? Did I mention the owner was lighting more as I was talking to the desk woman? Insane. I messaged them on Facebook to ask why I didn't get a refund, but no one responded and that was a week ago. I would like my husband to be refunded, as I can't breathe in that store and won't be back. The reason I'm being generous in giving 3 stars is because the women that helped us on the first day were so kind. read more

I love Evolve! It's my go-to rock shop. I'm the type who believes that stones hold energy and because I don't care what others think, I'll buy my friends and family stones to help them get through whatever they are dealing with. This is a great spot to find some really fun stones that make great gifts. With each stone comes an information card to easily remember what benefits you should get from it. They also have a loyalty program and offer to hold onto the card for you, saving space in your wallet! They also offer classes, readings and spiritual products. I choose to go elsewhere for my spiritual services (like energy work), but it's worth checking out what Evolve has to offer if you're in the market. Overall, I think it's great that Crystal Lake has a store like this. It fits in perfectly with the cute little downtown area! read more

Sometimes I think about doing meditation... (pretty much only when I walk into spiritual healing/inner peace stores like this) I always feel tempted to buy some sort of gong or healing beads or even a cd that looks like it'll have a lot of harp going on, but then I think about the next time I'll actually use those things, which for me is likely never. It's just my ever-present urge to buy things I don't need taking over. ...Plus, I think about the last time the wifi at my apartment went out, creating an opportune time to unplug and meditate, or I didn't do that, of course. Instead, I let the rage wash over me and throw me into a near-murderous mood. I think relaxation just isn't for me. I like to be busy... or at least have the comfort of never-ending Netflix and an over-heating laptop burning thorough my thighs at all times. That, to me, is my ideal state of being. But I have to say, just walking into this store made me feel more together. It was calming, relaxed, the staff were fantastic and clearly doing their thing well because cats were buying up beads and prayer flags like there was no tomorrow. There was a guy outside the store doing a really cool singing bowl demonstration and I actually came thisfreakingclose to purchasing this awesome piece of artwork with this Indian woman with cool animal friends like bears and cougars. Mega bitchin'! I don't find myself out this way too often, but I've had this store on my mind ever since. A definite sign that I'm a fan and will be back sooner than later. read more

SUCH an amazing store. I will definitely be back. Visited this afternoon with my boyfriend to look for some jade stones. I was recommended by the lovely owners of The Gypsy Haven to stop in (Also another great shop in Elgin). I walk in and there were a lot of people actually. I got a lot of good vibes from the moment I walked in! They have a large selection of stones and crystals. They were all very beautiful and I was able to find quite a few that I gravitated towards and decided to purchase. They have a punch card for collectors and I filled an entire one up my first visit and got $2 off (You can either get $2 off or a $2 stone for free). They had all kinds of stuff it was so interesting to look at the pendulums and singing bowls and smudge sticks, everything was great. The lady that worked there helped me pick out the perfect lemongrass incense which I am burning now and it smells amazing! The people were great, the stones and crystals are great (Mine are now being cleansed! So excited!), just good vibes overall. I will definitely be back soon! read more

If I could give negative stars I would! The owners dont seem to treat their employees well as I witnessed upon my visit to the shop. I witness the blonde haired owner being very disrespectful and rude to this other blonde girl that worked there. She seemed to be in an extremely bad mood as she was throwing jewelry out of the case at her and being very disrespectful to her employee. As an HR manager I was appalled. The other employee looked like she was about to cry and the disrespectful things said to her were a kin to he being used as a punching bag. I am very surprised that a place like this treats their employees with such disrespect and uncomfortable situations. This interaction made me very uncomfortable to witness. I will not be coming back. Shame on the owner for being so disrespectful and rude she apparently does not practice what she preaches and it's just for show. I would expect more from people who walk the spiritual path as it is quite evident the winer does not! I dont know how to express that you dont treat people like that! Be held accountable, do better! You may be traumatizing people In ways that are unseen by you. read more

For me, this was a destination to visit 90 minutes from my home. I found the store and quite frankly, had to use a bathroom. I walked into the store and browsed front to back and side to side but didn't see facilities. Also, did not seem to get the attention of anyone at the counter. It was a busy little shop. So... I left and went to find a bathroom but never returned. I have a feeling the facilities are downstairs? Also, they offer classes and consultation services of various metaphysical practitioners so is that downstairs too? Here is the thing, even if the bathroom is downstairs, I can't climb stairs due to a knee issue. So, sorry this review is only about something as laughable as a bathroom but bathrooms matter... Note, I will update my review if management responds here and provides a bit more information for those to whom this issue matters too. I purchased a beautiful Amethyst pendulum for $17 seven months ago. I held it a couple of times and then placed it in a box and have not used it due to personal obligations. Yesterday I took it out of the box, and it fell apart at the top section. I'm not sure if the wire was too short or why it didn't hold. I took it back to Evolve to let them know about the quality to inform their supplier, and the owner was unnecessarily rude. He said he couldn't warranty it because it's past three months. I said I understand, but it's odd for not having any use that this happened and asked how I might repair it. He said to leave the top portion off and clip the wire sticking out and use it as a shorter version. He wanted to cut the wire off. I asked him not to and said I might be able to wrap it around the ring part. He said, okay, whatever. I put it back in the bag and said it was a shame it fell apart so quickly because I really love it, then I started to leave. He inappropriately responded that it's an inexpensive piece and it is what it is. I replied that his comment was not very nice and began walking out. He said, what's not nice? I can't replace it. I turned back and told him that what he said was insensitive because the price is relative to the person, and it showed a lack of customer service. He never once said, sorry this happened. I informed him I didn't come into the store expecting him to replace it. I'm a long-term customer, and I only wanted to give him feedback about the quality to contact his supplier. He said, fine, I will. His communication revealed he sells non-quality items and doesn't care about his customers. OMG! It only gets worse with this store's inability to understand customer service. I received a phone message from the owner asking me to call her back. When I called back, she said I heard my husband's side of the story; now I want to hear yours. I was taken aback by her talking to me as if I was a child. I said, what do you mean by my side. I wrote a review to tell you how disappointed I was. She said I saw the one-star review. I said, well, then you know about the item that fell apart in a short amount of time and that I stopped by to provide feedback for you to give to your supplier, and your husband was aloof and responded inappropriately. She said, do you want me to fix it? Her tone sounded very combative. How hard is it to say that is unfortunate? I'm sorry that happened. Having them repair or replace it was not why I stopped in. If they were better at customer service, they would have known I was a long-time customer, and all they needed to do was recognize that and say sorry for the inconvenience. We appreciate you letting us know, and we will contact our supplier. Not once did they acknowledge I was doing them a favor by giving them feedback. I had no intention of writing a bad review, but it's not right when I tried to do something nice and received poor treatment. To make matters even worse than they already were, she had the nerve to say, "I think YOU may have misunderstood my husband." What kind of a store owner blames the customer. When I pointed that out to her, she said I'm not placing blame; I said YOU "may have." Seriously! Are you not hearing yourself. Had they been nicer, I would have taken my review down. But in good conscience, to others who buy from them, I could not. I told her my review stands, and she replied there is nothing left to be said. I lost total respect for a local store I once liked to shop. Thanks for responding, Melinda. Much could have been avoided if I heard this response in person or over the phone. read more

My new favorite store to visit whenever I'm in downtown Crystal Lake! The store is a great size and they have a wide selection of items on display! I've gotten some items from them and have not be disappointed by the quality of the items! I've picked up 4 bottles of essential oils from here for a great price and they all smell wonderful! I went in there several weeks ago with two of my friends and picked up a necklace that I wear everyday and have gotten great complements on it! Very welcoming and wonderful energy in there! I feel it every time I walk in. I have been going there for several years now and there's ALWAYS something I come home with. Evolve is a great spiritual place and perfect for everything you need. But if you want a place that is actually filled with good energy and positivity, look elsewhere. As a former employee as of recent, I did not feel either of those in this environment. Give your money to owners elsewhere that will value you as a customer, rather than here where they are just happy to take all your cash. If you thought about applying to Evolve, my first piece of advice is don't. You will find very quickly here that you are mistreated and rude comments by your employers will be made. All of their employees have left the shop because of various reasons such as the examples above. Evolve could be a great, at-home feeling place if it was run by people who cared enough about their customers and employees, rather than the money they receive at the end of the day. I have visited evolve quite a few times and the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff are both great. They have a wide variety of products to choose from, and I've always left with more than one item, generally gifts for loved ones. I do have one issue with this store though, and after a disappointing past few visits, I won't be returning, which makes me a bit upset given there are few stores out this way that offer similar products. Last year I bought about $60 worth of items from Evolve; healing stones with pouches and a few books. Upon wrapping those gifts, I had found that for one, the woman behind the counter (as nice as she was) had given me several of the wrong cards that go along with the healing stones. I knew what each stone was called but the cards were for stones that I did not purchase..which left me wondering how much extra I was charged given that they range anywhere from $1-$12+ per stone.. This aggravated me a bit because not only did I not have cards with proper descriptions of each stones healing benefits to give to my loved ones, but I was also charged more for stones that I didn't even buy. On the same visit, I also purchased a few books and upon wrapping them, I noticed on the back cover the two prices, for US and for Canada. They were quite pricey books anyway, but after checking my receipt I realized they had charged me the Canadian price...? Which was quite a bit more than the US price... I was really disappointed.. I thought this store was more humble than what my experience there left me feeling. I tried to let it go and came back again last week for some more healing stones and ran into the same issue. Overcharged for stones that I did not purchase and left with cards that did not match the stones I purchased.. Unfortunately I didn't request a receipt. I wouldn't care so much about the stones if the staff had to go by memory because there are so many different kinds, but I filled out one of the sheets they leave by the table which request that you circle the name of each stone you take to make it easier upon checking out. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews but I do feel the need to be honest about things like this so that others can be aware and make sure this does not happen to them. read more

Their selection of jewelry/crystals is plentiful not to mention so unique and beautiful- i purchased a Moonstone ring a while back and wear it everyday:) Sometimes they also sell Third eye pinecones but they sell out quick! They also have unique and spiritual candles, cool instruments, books, and offer yoga/meditation classes+much more... the staff is so nice and always help you find exactly what you are looking for !
