When I've been in Crystal Lake other times, I've wondered about this shop but have either not had…read moretime to stop in it or it has been closed when I've been there. Today when I was in town I took the opportunity to walk around a bit. There are a lot of nice looking housewares and decor throughout the store. It's actually quite large, and had an upstairs design area as well. Lots of pillows, furniture, wall art, and so on. The women in the store were busy with other customers when I and others entered, but once she was done she came and welcomed us to the store and asked us if we needed any assistance. There wasn't anything I needed and between buying some other home decor items and spending money with guests visiting, I didn't really want to spend any money and just wanted to take a look around. There was one item I found, a navy-colored, ~leather, mirrored tray; however, when the two sizes were $60 or $90 and when I turned it over I there was a big made in China mass production sticker on it, which was pretty disappointing for a store that has so many items that appear to be locally made or at least have a local flavor. I would visit again to wander or if I was looking for something specific (and I'll bet they have some lovely things around the holidays). However, I'd try to learn about the origins of what I was buying and if it's just an assembly line piece to help me determine what I'd be willing to pay for whatever I was purchasing.

On this occasion I stumbled across Japanese Melon Soda (the caps are a sign of respect, this is fabled stuff in my recent history). I also loaded up on all of the interesting global candies you could want, which make for easy anytime gifts. The clearance shelves are worth perusing, as is the beverage display, end to end. Even if you don't find something you MUST HAVE, the products and labels are often interesting enough that it's worth it just to look. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and they clue you in on the discounts you can get by signing up for text alerts. It's like everyone who works here is the younger sibling of someone who works at Trader Joe's. They're just as nice, but no one ever gives them any credit.

I've had several art pieces framed in their framing department over the years. They do a fantastic job!! No complaints at all. Obviously, they have aisles and aisles of home decor, furniture, arts & crafts, seasonal decorations, fake flower dept,, and so much more. Both stores are located in a tiny strip mall. Parking can be tight when it's busy, but for the most part, it's not a bad lot. Plenty of spring specific items out but also every day items. I got a fantastic wood sign for myself and a tiny one for my husband's brother and his wife. There are tons of different signs with so many different fun sayings. If you can't find something you enjoy here then I don't think it exists! Will definitely be heading back another time of year to see what seasonal items they have then.
