My pool seemed to be losing a good amount of water and I woke up to find it had dropped 3/4" overnight and the pump starting to lose prime and suck air. I'm retired. I enjoy doing repairs myself so, I investigated my pool leak myself. I dug a hole about 18" deep where the water was seeping up and discovered I was "over my head" - metaphorically. My son had someone replace a pump for him, so when I told my son about my pool problems, his answer was simple: "Call Dakota. He knows his stuff." I called. Dakota returns my call the same day, quoted me the price for the inspection, the estimated price for the fix, and scheduled an inspection. Doug texted me 30 minutes before he arrived and arrived on time. I showed him the beautiful hole full of water from the leak and PVC pipes. I expected it was a pool leak because it was near one of the pool inlet jets. Doug suspected it to be somewhere in the spa which was next to my hole because of suspicious dampness where it should not have been damp. By using a hypodermic needle with colored dye, and a diver's mask, he put his head underwater and did a few squirts of dye near the suspected leak area to see the dye get sucked into a crack. So, he quickly and accurately found the leak. Once the water leaked into the stone overflow from the spa, it took a circuitous route to find and fill my hole. After a phone call to Dakota, he returned with a most reasonable price to fix the problem. I agreed at once and the work began. He drained the spa, cut out the old grout, mixed up underwater cement, patched the cut-out section, cleaned up the mess from the cut-out, re-filled the spa, and verified the leak was fixed. I paid him and he left me with my 18" hole and a warranty for the work done. But that's not the best part. The best part was the waiting around. While we waited around for the draining and re-filling of the SPA, I kept asking questions: What's the best robotic sweeper? How should I fix the grout cracks in the topstones around the pool? How about the retaining wall in back that shows cracks? What do you think of my suction pool sweep? We also talked about life and raising our children. Doug taught me things and verified some of the things I already know. He had good techniques for doing his work. It was like a personalized technical school, psychology session, and comedy show all rolled into one. (Doug has a good sense of humor.) Evolution Leak Detection does quality work, at reasonable prices with the integrity of men who will take that extra 30 minutes that determines the difference between a good job and a great job. Repaired 2 skimmers, found and repaired a leak under the deck, and repaired all the mortar on the waterfall from the hot tub. Gone by 3, after a great cleanup. We were losing about 2 inches of water a day out of our pool. I firmly believed we had a serious underground leak and started looking for someone to come and test that theory. Bigger companies couldn't come out for about a month, and somewhat reluctantly (but after looking at reviews), I booked Evolution Leak Detection. Dakota (owner and chief bottle washer) was able to come out in two weeks, and he showed up as promised. He pressured up the lines and found no problems (Yay!). He did find that we need a new skimmer (full pool revamp this fall so that will happen then), but otherwise found that we were also losing water around both the pool and spa lights. Dakota was able to take care of that problem and was all done in just a few hours. Bottom line, he found the leak sources and repaired what he recommended. I researched this pool place just like many others after the freeze . I knew if I didn't get on a list it would be a long time before our pool got fixed. I called and the response was fast. I took pictures and gave all the information that Dakota asked for. He sent me a estimate and then we set the date. I was so happy that it was only going to be a couple of weeks. I then got a phone call back saying he had to cancel the appointment because there were no parts available. He said he would let me know when he knew about parts being available. I called back later that day and asked him if I could find the parts myself if he would be able to put it together. I wouldn't waste my time trying to find parts if that could t be done. He said if I could find all the parts then he would put it together but he could t warranty the work. I was like ok . what do we need and I will try to find from a pool supply place. He then gave me a list and I started searching now this was just at the end of the freeze so I got the parts and shipped 2 day or three day to make sure we had all the parts before the appointment. I let him know and also sent pictures of to make sure since I knew nothing about pools. A week went by then it was our turn! I was super excited but when he got there he said that he couldn't fix cause he didn't realize the pipe had black flex seal which was not asked about when I sent pictures also he sat we need a couple more parts I was bummed and stressed because weeks have gone by and now we need more parts . I then said ok now that you are here what do we need so I could go try to hunt those parts down . At this point parts were becoming scarce or backed ordered to who knows when since everyone needed parts. I confirmed that these were all the parts we needed several times and the found them by Chance. He then set up another appointment about a week and a half later so yay! Now that Dakota looks at your pool equipment and told us the rest of parts and assured us that was all we need it was just a waiting game. Finally the day came and he came back for a second time and when I went out I was surprised that nothing was happening. I was then informed that we need more parts which was frustrating because the last time we asked several time if we needed anything else and the answer was no multiple times to come to my surprise. Now that was not the most irritating to say the least part . Now a month and a half later being told he would do the job in the beginning with out a warranty which we knew we weren't getting he then tells us he no longer will be able to do the job. He went on to tell us about integrity and warranty and how he for some reasons a month and a half later all of a sudden couldn't do it. I do understand "integrity"definition- the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. Which front the beginning of the month and a half when I asked if I find the parts can you put together in which he said yes as long as you know I can't give a warranty which we said that It's ok with us amd we said we sign something saying so.So at this point it was agreed that he would do he work so that is why I started trying to find parts. So now he is stating not only do we not have two or three more parts but he won't be able to do it period. Based off of his integrity and warranty. We were very upset because not only did he waste a month and a half of my time where I could of gotten on another person list sooner than a month than a month and a half later he went back on his word that he would fix it. If you have integrity then you wouldn't say you would do one thing and then not do it a month and a half later .That is not being honest with your customers. Now i understand everyone needs there pool fixed and that is why I tried to get things done early so that we wouldn't have to wait a very little long time. Do not trust his word!! Dakota is an exceptional young man. I noticed I was having to add water to the pool at least 2 to 3 times a week. Dakota was recommended to me by our pool maintenance service. I called them and was able to make an appointment. He showed up on time, and was able to detect a leak in the skimmer neck within 15 minutes. He repaired it on the spot.
