I was visiting Oregon with some friends and we decided to take a little trip to hood river and do some wine tasting. Turns out, there are so many here! I ended up searching on yelp to find the best one and there was naked winery. What really caught my eye was the deal they were running ($15 for 2 tastings and it included free wine glasses) AMAZING! The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable we ended up buying a few bottles. All the wines were delicious and had fun, flirty descriptions on the back that made for a lot of laughs. If I'm ever back in Oregon, I'll definitely be returning. read more

My hubby and I are primarily beer drinkers. I enjoy a glass of wine here and there. We were in Bend a couple weeks ago and went to the Fermentation Celebration (approx. 30 breweries) and the Naked Winery was part of the tasting celebration. How cool!! So now we are in Hood River, and of course while we're here, we are checking out the local breweries. BUT we HAD to check out Naked Winery. We walked in and found a table to park ourselves at. We decided to share a flight tasting. We got the Naked Flight and off we went. Well... Sort of. The wines were VERY good, loved the names and the write ups on the labels. When we got to the reds tho, my hubby bowed out, ordered a glass of the Orgasmic Pinot Blanc and let me finish the rest of the reds in the flight. By far, we both liked the Orgasmic Pinot Blanc the best. I imagine this would be a great place for a group of wine drinking friends to have a great time! Our server was VERY friendly and helpful! Oh yeah, they do have about 3 beers you can get, for those who just aren't into wine but your friends drag you along. My ONLY complaint - make the ladies t-shirts more fun!! We really loved the old location. We have visited the new location three times, and found ourselves surrounded by children every time, even in areas labeled over 21 only. Granted, part of this is a reflection on crappy parenting, but Evoke should be better about following OLCC rules governing over-21 areas, and maybe establish the entire back patio as over-21. Then they wouldn't have kids running into the downstairs bar area and playing tag, etc., etc. That would at least let adults be free of other people's kids. So for now, we won't be going back to visit the Hood River location. read more

Great winery for a bachelorette party! They have signs to take pictures with and the theme of the winery is great for a bachelorette party. Overall a great experience. FYI- they will not let you use the yelp check in offer (2 tastings for $15) on the weekends. It wasn't stated anywhere on the offer and the manager just "said so". read more

We love this place, and not even because of all the innuendos. In fact, we signed up for the wine club, cancelled due to money, and went out there again saying to each other, "Promise that we won't sign up." You can see where this is going... we signed up again. We like the variety they offer. Whenever we've taken anyone here, you get dry and sweet and all kinds of varieties. The staff is super friendly, and very generous. Maybe that's where they get us to sign up so many times. Regardless, they have some fun atmosphere things to do, like fun pickup parties, a club members only room, and snacks. Funny merch, and like I said, we don't actually pay attention to all the innuendo humor, though I do knot that's a selling point for a lot of people. Long story short, great wine options, a great atmosphere, not being one of those tasting rooms where everyone is quiet and smelling their glasses while twirling their beverage. We learned we aren't big fans of Oregon wines, however, a few wines here stood out enough to prompt my wife to order a few bottles on Amazon. The naked Cowboy and the Gay Rose. Both very refreshing on such a warm afternoon in Hood River. The wine tasting room...I get the Spring Break type of vibe in this place which is pleasant considering tasting rooms are normally quite stuffy places. But I didn't get the sense that the hosts knew that much about the wines other than the basic stuff that even a novice like me already know. This was a really fun place to go when we stopped in Hood River on our way to Portland. We had our dog with us, and luckily this tasting room is very pooch-friendly. And just plain friendly in general. We didn't get naked, but we did enjoy the scandalous names and descriptions of the various wines. I went with just a glass of pinot noir, which I really enjoyed. The wife went with a flight, which our server was kind enough to make all reds since we're not really white wine people. The wine just kept on flowing, and it sure seemed like we got more than what was on the menu. We didn't complain at all, as we were both able to taste several different types of excellent and interesting wines. Our server was super friendly and told us all about the area. We even got free glasses to take with us. We had a beautiful view of the river and mountains from the tasting room, and I think our dog had fun too. read more

If you're stuck on critsizing wine qualities instead of enjoying the atmosphere, then maybe you should follow that stuck up nose south about 800 miles, because Napa valley seems to be your place. Anyone who has used the words "kitschy" or "gimmick" in their reviews has this place well defined. The labels are all sexual innuendo ("penetration," "missionary," "climax") with "gay rosé" inexplicably mixed in, as if it is somehow acceptable to use a queer identity as the object of a silly sexual joke. Maybe this would be okay if the owner or winemaker identified as gay, but alas our server said this is not the case. Homophobia aside, the sexual humor was altogether a bit distasteful, immature, and over-the-top for my liking. And that's really only the beginning of my bad experience. The wines I tasted were too sweet and one-dimensional for me. The coke the designated driver ordered never came. The room we were sitting in had walls covered in their clothing merchandise (do you like camo winery clothing? If so, come here), so the room itself was not terribly aesthetically pleasing. It's not that I need a pretentious winery experience, I'm more of a board shorts and Birkenstocks type of taster. That said, I also don't want my winery visits to be comparable to an episode of South Park. Perhaps the only appeal I see for Naked Winery is that it is downtown and is open later than any other wineries in the area. But if you are downtown during the day and this doesn't sound appealing to you, you would be better off heading to Cascade Cliffs or Springhouse Cellars. read more

Stopped in at about 5:30pm on a Saturday. We received one pour off the tasting menu and then never saw another drop hit our glass. After standing there for about 15 minutes wondering when we will ever get to taste another wine, we walked out. They were a little busy, but from what I could tell we were the only ones standing at the bar attempting to do a tasting. They were not busy enough to explain why we were just forgotten about. We hit 6 tasting rooms prior to this one and this was a real craptastic experience compared to the wineries we had just experienced. I would have preferred to end the day on a higher note..... When we did receive some attention from the staff (a male behind the bar) the conversation was a bit uncomfortable. I get that their theme is nakedness and sex and all that goes along with that, but some of the things being said were a little too over the line for me. I could have done without all the sexual references. It left a bad taste in my mouth (kind of literally, as the only wine we tasted was nothing to write home about). With all the great options of tasting rooms and wineries in the Gorge, I have zero desire to come back to Naked. Ps. I know they are capable of making good wine. I have had some Naked wine before that was pretty outstanding. I wish I could remember the name of it. Maybe if I had been able to do a full tasting I would have rediscovered it. read more

Fun concept, very friendly staff. Buy these wines at discount grocers for $4 to $6 per bottle. Not worth the price they ask here. Rough nose, undeveloped, harsh flavors. Great name but that's about it. Wine was OK but nothing spectacular. Our server was nice but the other 2 girls seemed snooty. And the upsale was really irritating. The ambiance was confused. The name and some of the decor imply something more casual (even raunchy) but other parts of the decor try to be more uppity. If you are into good quality wine this is not the place for you unless you plan on spending more than what the wine is worth. This is definitely a winery which is more about the show than the wine. Upsides: fun atmosphere (not from the people that work there but from the people who frequent there); good tasting-- they offer an $8 for 8 wine tasting + glass (this comes with a caveat, however, because the wines they offer for tasting are not anywhere near the quality of the wines not on the tasting menu). Downsides (there are many): the servers--if you're looking for knowledgable wine connoisseurs, you're barking up the wrong tree (it was difficult for the servers to answer simple questions such as "What is your red blend a blend of?")/ they are also not very nice, which if you're buying $20+ mediocre wine, you would expect more of; the wine---I have tasted $5-10 wine that is better than the wine they serve here, and the wine is watery; the wine club-- you pay $50 -190 four times a year depending on the number of bottles you get. This in theory seems like a great idea. However, they get to pick the wine for you and considering they have around 25-30 different types of wine, it is up in the air whether you will actually like the bottles they send you. Our server did nothing to wow us into joining the club, and anytime we mentioned other winery deals he was very defensive. Overall: won't go back to this place again. Got the Pinot Gris which is a nice simple wine and the O Meritage which was not even near as good as the price I paid for it which I didn't see until I got the bill ($50.... I think the draw to this place is the name. I came here 2010/2011 (ISH) and didn't like and still do not like it. My husband and I split a taste of 4 wines, we did not like any of them. To top it off, the taste was $30 which is more comparable to Yamhill / Carlton prices, even though I am in the industry, I still did not get a discount because I do not work in the industry in the Hood River area. Holy crap, Portland, don't you ever go wine tasting in Hood River? I AM ASHAMED TO BE THE SECOND REVIEW OF THIS GREAT WINERY. So yeah, it is an hour from Portland. And yeah, after stopping here you will need a DD. But, I went tasting on MLK Day, and was greeted very warmly by a cool chick wearing a tight black shirt that said, "I party naked." Sweet. Me too. But- most shops charge $5 for a tasting. Naked charged either $1 per sample or $5 for the whole shabang. For $5, I got to try 18 different wines! And 16 were excellent! Naked promotes another winery (which I can't recall) and they sampled out 2 or 3 of them. The other winery paled in comparison. Almost all of the Naked wines were enjoyable. Also, the woman helping us gave us very generous "samples". I mean, most were an ounce at least. 18 ounces of wine in under an hour... well, at least there were free rainbow colored goldfish to snack on! But yeah. I was trashed. Totally fell in the shower when I got home. Great way to spend a leisurely Monday. GO FOR THE DRIVE, PORTLAND. But God, bring a DD. You will need it. Oh, and they have live music at night. read more

Word to the wise... If you're under 45 stay far far away from the naked winery. It's an old person version of a singles bar... Where the sexy party might make you throw up in your mouth a little. We came in for a wine tasting and while we're not spring chickens we were younger than every other patron by about 2 decades. The blonde woman behind the bar made us feel as uncomfortable as possible from the moment we walked in, while serving everyone else with a smile. After enduring her glaring silence, sour face and stingy pours for 20 minutes we got the hint after trying 3 out of the 5 wines we ordered, left our tab on the table and shuffled out of there as fast as possible. If a swingers party exclusive to AARP members is your jam, check this place out. Otherwise there are dozens of other establishments to try in the area, with friendly service to boot. read more

Somewhat sexy women behind a bar serving wine and having too much fun doing it? Sounds like the making for Coyote Ugly 2? Last weekend was my 4th or 5th time I've been to Naked Winery for a tasting. It seems like it has been a while or maybe it was just a busy day at Naked Winery but something was definitely different then what I am used to. There was a live musician playing in the background while a group of girls for a girls day out tour was standing next to me and my girlfriend. A few other couples were around the bar as well experiencing the wine as well. There was also people walking around us looking around and enjoying the music and their glasses of wine. I think more then anything it was just too busy inside there and made it a little difficult to enjoy the experience of an actual wine tasting. Not that it has to be absolutely silent but it was seriously louder then a NY bus station. As for the wine, I do not believe this time around I found anything I actually enjoyed and ending up not purchasing a single bottle from them which is actually surprising cause I usually end up leaving with at least one bottle from each of my previous experiences here. I will say that tastes are very subjective so please don't let my opinion steer you away from this place. I believe this is at least a must see place when you make a wine tour out here in Hood River. I happen to not find anything I particularly enjoyed this time and hope maybe my next trip it may be a different experience. Sorry guys, only two stars for you this time. 1. It was too loud and difficult to hear a conversation in there. 2. Seems like the attendants have minimal experience. 3. The gaps between pours seem to be too long. 4. Stumbled upon this place while looking for a new spot to do a little wine tasting while in Hood River. It's unfortunate to leave with such a bad taste is our mouths. The service was terrible. Not only did our server have no knowledge of the wine we were tasting, she also rolled her eyes at my boyfriend when he asked to take a photo of the bottle saying "I don't want the wine to get cold." We felt extremely rushed, and ignored. My boyfriend did the dry flight which wasn't great, I did the sweet flight which was much more enjoyable. The best thing about this place was the complementary goldfish. Go across the street to the Pines 1852. We had a fantastic experience there. read more

I have to say that my 1st experience at Naked Winery was super fun & I walked out the door with much more than I expected on my way in. The gal at the counter was funny and informative and we really did enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately, we decided to take some friends with us the next time we visited and had a horribly embarrassing tasting during which time the woman behind the counter became visibly agitated when one of our friends asked to try the Pinot Noir. Our friend had gotten mixed up & thought she had missed it while in the ladies room, no biggie, but when she asked to try it the woman said she already had and practically dumped the next tasting in her glass. She then stalked away from us. The rest of the tasting was downhill with barely a description of the wine she was pouring. Sorry to have inconvenienced you? All in all we were just really embarrassed that we had taken our friends to this tasting room. We even felt compelled to apologize. Not good. read more

So I went out to the Hood River area to go rafting. On the way to our put in, my friends and I stopped in Hood River from some grub. We chose some Mexican eatery. While walking around the town I saw the Naked Winery. I thought to myself "hmmmmm. I shall be back soon" Few weeks later I drove out to this wonderful joint and had a few glasses of wine. Their syrah is AMAZING. Staff is knowledgeable. Ambiance is cozy and classy. If you're looking for a good way to spend a sunny day. Go to Hood River and have some wine. Walk about and explore the small town. It's quaint and adorable. I would LOVE to live in a town like that. read more

We came in with a big group and started trying wines. Usually the "novelty" named wine are average at best! People buy them because they are fun to give as gifts! We were served by Emma who was great about explaining the grapes used in "Cougar", "Foreplay" and "Penetration", etc.! They have milk chocolate chips, semi sweet and white chocolate to add to the tasting pleasure. Emma was awesome! She actually let us taste beyond the normal 8 wines and, after I joined the club, gave us way more wine! I will be back, often!!!! read more

We were driving around one afternoon near Hood River and decided to hit up one of the wineries. When we checked out Yelp, Naked was the closest one to us, so we opted for it. The space is nice, with tables and the bar area to hang out and drink the wines. You can get glasses or flights (if you're not sure which you'd like). We opted for the flights. You get about 1.5 oz samples of 8 wines (either the standard collection of 8 or the sweeter collection). While some of the wines were good, I felt like overall the goal was more gimmick than quality (i.e. naming the wines sexy titles and whatnot). Overall if you're a big wine fan, this would not be my first pick. I will say that our service was GREAT. We went in on a friday during the day, and I don't think they were anticpating much of crowd but they ended up with one. It turned out there was only one experienced server there (I think her name was Emma) and then a trainee there on her first day. They did a wonderful job of keeping everyone served with the different flights and there was very little dead time. read more

I don't get why people like this place. Very rarely do I walk into a place and get hit with such a low level of professionalism, and very unexpected from tasting room. The bartender, who seems to also be one of the owners or involved at some deeper level, was horrible. No exaggeration, one of the douchiest aholes I've ever encountered in the service industry. Then there's the wine. The terrible, terrible wine. I see some good reviews, and I know their business has been growing, but I don't really get why. I suppose there are plenty of lame people out there that enjoy the kitschy image of this brand with the corny double entendres and struggle attempts at being "cute." Hey, if this somehow helps save a couple's rocky relationship, then maybe it's all for the best. Marketing aside, they don't grow any of their own grapes and the grapes they buy from growers seem to be of the lower quality variety, third presses and such. I could be wrong on the last part, but based on the quality of the wine, it eludes to something along the lines of a problem with the fruit quality or a breakdown somewhere in the winemaking process. If you are any kind of real wine enthusiast, casual or connoisseur, stay as far away form this place as you can. You'd have as much luck picking something at random from your local grocery store. If someone gifts you a bottle, use it for cooking or save it for the next white elephant. read more

The tasting rooms (at all locations) are amazing. I visit my (as a club member) Hood River location the most. It is a chill wine vibe. If you don't like the wines...tell them what you like. They HAVE it. But the "good stuff" is typically held for club members. So ASK!!!! Kristie and Maija are tha BOMB in HR. Halloween night review: In two words, AWKWARD SAUCE! Granted, it was far better than the previous craphole of a bar we'd gone to, but talk about strange! It was almost like reenacting the Rocky Horror Picture Show: the six of us, all in wedding celebration garb, walk up to the door, which suddenly flings open! Fog rushes out and "Thriller" blasts in our faces! With glow sticks. So. Very. Weird. But fun. Everyone was in costume, which means that there's not way people could take themselves too seriously. I didn't have a drink, so I can't comment on the selection. But it was a strange, slightly frightening, good time with music that whirled into a techno spiral late in the night. One thing: last call was at 1, so we had to find yet another bar. But Naked was a good time. I don't know the odds of my ever winding up in Hood River on Halloween night again, but if it does happen, I'd do Naked again. read more

We took a couple from Cali to Naked Winery - we were excited to show them Oregon's "wine country" because they're surrounded by it in the San Jose area. Fortunately, Naked Winery didn't disappoint! The girl helping us with our wine flights - which was only $10 for 8 flights (pretty good!) was friendly and helpful. My favorite thing about Naked Winery is that it's *VERY* unpretentious. I'm absolutely not into the snobby, stuffy wine tasting thing, so I'm glad we got to experience Naked winery. Other reviewers say not a lot of men go here, but my husband and his colleague loved it. Naked Winery has two different flights to sample - one is the more traditional wines, and one is sweeter wines. All but one of us chose the sweet wines and we enjoyed all of them. They provide goldfish crackers and chocolate melts, which seemed bizarre to have in front of us, but once we started to get buzzed, it was awesome to have them. They have a photo booth that had kinky props that made me feel like I was in a Fifty Shades of Grey book! It was fun and entertaining. We ended up buying two bottles of wine and paying for our flights with a 20% off Yelp coupon and it was $57 with a well deserved tip. My husband's colleague bought 6 bottles and had it shipped for only $10, I believe which isn't bad all the way to Cali. One of their wine lines is called "Outdoor Wine" which comes in a hard plastic bottle with a screw top. We bought one of these to take camping. Definitely something I'm looking forward to trying again when we go back to Hood River - it was super fun. read more
