Neither explanation is the kind of dealership you want when looking for a luxury or performance vehicle. Or any vehicle. So. I bought a car from this dealership less than a month ago. Both Chan and Buzzy were very helpful and serviceable. They both were willing to meet me after hours to help me buy this car. Because I really wanted this car. I am a 34 year old female buying a 397HP manual transmission for the first time. It meant a lot to me. The first day I went to see my car, I noticed the tires were missing chunks. I brought up that the tires were missing chunks, and Buzzy was immediately startled and apologetic. Someone had curbed the car. He had not noticed and he said he would absolutely bring it up to the shop. My boyfriend took a look at the brakes and said the brakes were shot, too. Again, I was told those would also be looked at for safety. We three sat down for awhile and I asked why this car had been on the lot for almost 50 days. It's a 2019, turbocharged Golf R. It's beautiful. I was told, "I don't know." "Okay, well. Why'd the previous owner sell it?" "I don't know." Hm. Well, maybe that's the truth. After some talk, I said yes, I would buy the car, IF the tires and brakes were fixed. Those were the things I had noticed, those were the things I wanted. No one wants to buy a new car with chunks missing out of the tires and also immediately have to drop a couple hundred bucks to get a brake job. The next day when I am prepared to purchase the car, I was told "neither item came back as a safety issue" and they were not fixed. Well, okay. So I asked if they would subtract the cost of those repairs, but they would not. I was told, firmly, regarding the price, "Layla, it's an as-is car." So they wouldn't work with me on price and told me the tires and brakes weren't bad enough to be repaired. I believed that. I believed them. I bought the car. 3 weeks later, I have to take it to a shop because it starts leaking coolant. Leaking coolant means the engine will cook- it is a huge problem. I get a call from the shop where I had dropped it off and they ask if I know about the tires and brakes. I say, "What...about them?" They say, there are literal chunks missing from your tires. The tread is shot. You've got 0/32, 0/32, 3/32, and 3/32. And your brakes, the front brakes are at 20%. The rear brakes? 10%. Great. The two things I had asked for. The exact two things I asked for and was told were not a problem. I would then take the car to the dealership because of the leaking coolant problem, which was a $1,300 fix. While at the dealership, one of the guys tells me the rear differential clutches are stuck together, causing the car to bind up and be stuck in AWD. It's a $3745 fix. Here's the thing. I don't mind about those two insanely expensive fixes. Sometimes you buy a car, and if you can't do your due diligence inspecting it, it's your gamble. I accept that. So I reached out to the dealership, and I was like, "Hey, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't know about the coolant leak, or the clutches, and that all sucks that I was sold such a problematic car and these items were somehow missed in your inspection.....but can we negotiate on the tires and brakes that you told me were not an issue?" I reached out twice. They didn't respond. Nothing. At least a "No" or "No, sorry" would have been nice. Well, not nice. But...something. Unfortunately, I've got $6,500 worth of repairs...And yet, all I wanted, all that I am asking for is help with the tires and brakes. Some sort of negotiation. That's it. Thing is, I realized later than I should really ask for all of it. Because as I was wondering about how there was so much wrong with my car, and how did they not know? And how had it not sold.. It occurred to me: the car I bought is a Volkswagen. Luxury Motor Car Company, their shop, is next to a Volkswagen Service center. Next to, as in, they share a parking lot. I'm pretty sure they knew everything. And if they truly didn't know, then how good is their inspection process? Because the way I see it, there's two options here, and neither are good: either they missed thousands of dollars worth of repairs that my car needed, or they lied to me about it. Not exactly the place I would want to buy a luxury car from.

Insurance company sent someone out appraised it and cut a check the day it was dropped off. I actually never heard from the body shop again until 3 weeks later when I was told my car would be done tuesday, Wednesday at the latest in a voicemail. I called the next Monday to make sure it would be done. Again, I was told it would be done. that Wednesday I called and was told that it would be done Thursday and that the headlight was on back order and they just assumed it would be there. when I picked the car up, the fender was misaligned and they said it was a quick fix and remained it worse and the headlight is still broken. They took payment and told the insurance company (through email because they wouldn't answer the phone for multiple days) the car was fixed. Insurance closed the claim and wont reopen it. 2 months later and my car is in worse shape than when I took it in

Total cost was $8,442.90 I went back on 11/20/2024 SO#V407410 with an oil leak and my vehicle shutting off randomly. Diagnosis was that the boost hose was not secure and they replaced the clamp. Determined no oil leak. Vehicle was in the shop for one day. I went back again on 12/5/2024 SO#V407746 with an oil leak and vehicle shutting off randomly. Determined failed oil trap line and vacuum leak. Again returned to the dealer on 2/3/2025 SO#V409061 with an oil leak and shutting off randomly. Determined torque fault converter and no oil leak found. Recommended new transmission. 7/7/2025 I returned to Volvo to fix the oil leak. That has been consistently happening since the initial fix. The top of the motor is covered in dark motor oil. I was told the oil drain plug was leaking. No answer for the oil on top of the motor. Volvo's latest theory is the oil has been poured on the top of the engine although the oil is dark and the last time it was brought in they had cleaned the motor oil off of the car. Instructed to return 7/18 since they have died the oil this time. This is the 7th time I have returned to the dealership.

Oil change -- $156.16 They couldn't diagnose the convertible top noise, and recommended taking it to the dealership. -- N/C Drivers door proximity sensor PARTS $324.49 The door sensor was ordered and we scheduled another time to bring it in. The service advisor, Robby, had a few recommendations that he called me about before my next appointment. Transmission fluid, brake fluid, spark plugs, and crankcase vent valve. Robby told me he only recommended the trans fluid and spark plugs. The other fluids were recommendations and could wait. I agreed. On my second visit they were supposed to install the sun visor, install the door sensor, replace the spark plugs, and service the transmission. I dropped my car off at 7:30am. At 5pm when I went to pick my car up, it wasn't ready. At first it was "sorry" come back tomorrow. Then they offered me a loaner. But I was in a push for time, so I declined and told them I would return the next day. I have an alarm system on my car. It alerted me it had been started and shut off at around 8PM that night. I could only assume the technician was working late on it. So I stopped by around 2PM the next day and gave the technician $200 as a tip to show my appreciation for his extra help. When I picked the car up I signed a paper, paid with my card, and got my keys and left. After I left I looked at the receipt. I thought the price was higher than quoted, and it was... by $700+. They did the brake fluid and crankcase vent valve without my approval. I called and asked what the issue was and was told they would check their phone logs and get back to me because they record the phone calls. 2 weeks later and no response. So I text them and get told I approved the repairs AFTER they were done when I signed the receipt. That signature, according to them, is proof that I approved the repairs. NO! That's proof that I paid for the repairs. I wanted to find a place to get my Audi repaired and maintained and love supporting small shops. I wanted to give them a chance to make me a happy customer. Instead I get told "I am having a hard time understanding how this would be any different than going to a pizza place, ordering a 3 topping pizza, paying for it, signing the receipt, eating it, and then returning saying you actually only wanted one topping."
