Sandra is a great stylist, and nice person. I have had my hair blown out by her for a Christmas party I was attending, and I just recently had a cut with her. Very friendly, personably, and does a great job with hair. She's knowledgable about what to do with your hair type, specifically, and will make recommendations accordingly. UPDATE: I appreciate the owner reaching out via phone after I posted my review offering to fix the cut. I had already gotten it fixed at another location, but I appreciate the effort. I've upped the review one star. Unfortunately, this studio really butchered my hair. The concierge staff and hair stylist were very nice, so I'm sad to say that the haircut had such a bad result. I have long curly to wavy hair, and two hair textures -- the top part of my hair is extremely curly, and bounces up when cut, while the lower part of my hair is almost straight. When I came in for my cut, I specifically told the hairstylist that I have two hair textures, and please be careful layering because my hair looks different naturally than in a blow out. She said she would. Unfortunately, the result of this cut shows that she made two layers: a straight line of curls at my chin, and about four inches below another straight line with my straight hair. I literally look like a cartoon of a Christmas tree - two completely distinct triangles. I haven't had this bad a cut since middle school. I'm going somewhere else to get it fixed -- likely by chopping off 4inches, when I really wanted to grow my hair out. I would recommend not going here if you have textured/curly hair. read more

Abby colored my hair recently and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! I'm new to the area and was SO worried about finding a new salon, and I couldn't have been happier with Abby's blonding!! She is warm, inviting and honest. i like the atmosphere at Evie and i've gotten some great haircuts. I can only give it 2 stars as BOTH times i went there was no hot water for the shampoo! I'm not talking tepid.. It was freezing.. I took an appointment with a Junior Stylist for a trim. I loved the hair dresser, however, my haircut turned out very uneven. The angles were noticeable uneven and choppy too. I was charged for a cut and blow dry when I walked out with wet hair which was pricey. I was disappointed they allow appointments with stylists that don't have enough experience/training. read more

I live in the Davis square area and walk past this place often. From the outside it looks inviting, so after seeing their Yelp rating I decided to give them at try. I've been looking for a new salon to frequent and this definitely won't be it. The person I saw for my cut and color was nice, but I was really upset with my haircut. It wasn't what I asked for at all, my stylist didn't listen to me. The color was okay but the owner kept coming over and trying to up sell me on services I didn't want she was really pushy and it made me uncomfortable. This is by far the most expensive salon in Davis Square and it is not worth the price. If you look at the Yelp reviews a lot are for stylist that don't work there any more or they are written by the owners friends. I would not recommend Evie. read more

I had asked for a quick trim before my stylist, Abby, colored my hair and Rebecca was quick to help. She did a great job. I cannot rave enough about Abby! Rude! So overpriced! awful experience! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! So, I usually don't like to leave bad reviews unless my experience is just so horrible that I can't hold it in and I feel I can help someone else to avoid having a similar one... unfortunately this is the case in Evie's. I saw Katherine for what should have been a cut and a color. This was my second time here (the first time the color washed out in about a week and a half but I gave her the benefit of the doubt given what my hair color was before, still I should have known better) and I needed to speak to her about the haircut she gave me and what wasn't working for my hair. Still, I gave them benefit of the doubt after paying over $200 the first time because I thought that after the first cut we could fix her mistakes with my experience with the cut. WOW was I wrong! 1. I first wanted to work out with her a budget friendly plan for my hair as this place is expensive and I am going back to school I want to be mindful of these type of expenditures. She reacted like I had just confessed to some crime. She even said, "well, if you don 't have any money........" HOW RUDE IS THAT?? I was so shocked by her response!!! I even said that I just wanted to keep a color and a style that wouldn't have me running to the salon every few weeks and THAT was her response?!?! UNACCEPTABLE! 2. I pointed out that even though she claimed that I needed a double dye process to assure that my hair wouldn't fade last time my hair faded in less than two weeks so I wanted to know what color options we had. She then proceed to berate me about "what I wanted", to just "tell her what color I wanted"... I was certainly taken aback by her manner and when I pointed out that I wanted her opinion as to what tone would be best to eventually get to a better shade she still just sat there with attitude until I asked her if she could maybe go get a color chart so we could pick a color as I had no idea what was possible and that's why I was coming to her. She finally went begrudgingly to get the color chart like this was such a hardship for her- seriously, what hairdresser acts like this? I thought I must be on some kind of practical joke show. By this time I desperately wanted to leave but unfortunately I really needed to color my hair for an event so I decided to stay. 3. I pointed out that the haircut she insisted on giving me was working only in some areas but not overall and I wanted to know what options she thought I had. Her response was basically that the ONLY cut I could have was the one she gave me, the one cut I told her had not worked for me in the past! (she cut my fine, wavy hair in a kinda stodgy librarian type long bob that leaves my hair flat at the top and then pouf-y at the bottom, think cocker spaniel ears) or she could cut the back super short. I told her that in that case then I would forego letting her redo the same cut that didn't work... she was absolutely less than pleased about that and gave me further attitude. Seriously I have NEVER had such a bad experience in a hair salon! EVER!! I am not a confrontational person and perhaps I should have left mid dye but necessity made me stay but I can honestly say that I have never had a hairstylist be confrontational and to refuse to give me options. I am definitely no stranger to the hair salon as I've had almost every possible color and cut over my lifetime. The kicker? Well I had refused additional add-ons to the color because its a product that I used before and it doesn't work well for my hair. Katherine said that I couldn't have used it because its new.... well, sorry if you think you are on the cutting edge of hair but this type of treatment is available in other places!! I stood my ground and refused the additional cost which should have been the end of it but NO. When she was washing out my hair she and the other lady there (perhaps the owner) decided to have a "casual chat" about how important this additional product was and how crucial it was, especially for red dyes(I was getting red), blah blah blah... talk about hard sell. No, I didn't bite but I was so annoyed by such a childish tactic ugh. There are many many places in the surrounding area that have to be a million times better than than ending up with a old-fashioned cut, a mediocre color and worst of all, being treated rudely and paying wayyy more than you should. Despite my strict instructions to just do the dye she added some glaze without telling me and ended up charging me $100 for a too-dark dye job and dripping wet hair. Do yourself and your hair a favor and avoid this place at all costs! read more

My first bad review ever, cause i am a very easy going person and i do understand that we make mistakes and we deserve second changes to fix it ....well, I searched for almost a month before doing this treatment, after i have read few good reviews i decided go to Evie Salon Studio. I do not understand how she has good reviews, in my opinion clients are intimidated by her not to write a bad review, cause she tried to do that to me, but i am not afraid to say what is wrong. I am so disappointed with this place. I went there to do a very expensive treatment (kerasilk treatment) almost $400 to soften an give a shine in my hair, my hair it was health before i went to this place, just needed a little shine, and they damaged my entire hair. I had to cut half of my hair cause of the damage, and pay for more treatment to try to fix what they did to my hair, the other professionals who saw my hair they were shocked at what they did with my hair. I tried to resolve this situation with the owner Yvonne, she was rude and selfish, she did not even apologize for what happened. She was just worry about me asking her to refund the money, and of course she did NOT do it. She did not move one finger to fix the problem. I was right in front of her showing my hair and she did not even look at my hair, i have a lot of pictures to prove what they did to my hair, and she did NOT care. she should go to business school before open any business. she does not care about her work, image or client , cause i gave her a change to fix it , and she did NOT care...the only thing she was worry it is about her time and money. Such a shame!!! I do NOT recommend this place at all, do NOT waste your time and money there. read more

I have been here a couple of times. My first visit I had a great haircut from Melissa, but she doesn't work there anymore. I tried one of the other girls that work there recently and my experience was less than pleasant. While I was having my haircut, the person I assume is the owner came up to the stylist in the chair next to me and yelled at her about how much product she used and made a scene. I could tell that the girl having her hair colored with this stylist felt very uncomfortable and I have to say I did too. My haircut was ok, but at $65 it is more expensive than any other salon in the area and for that price I expect to feel relaxed and enjoy my experience. I wont be back. read more

Annamaria is the most caring and thoughtful hair stylist I have met! She listens to what each of her customers wants and takes the time to discuss her thoughts before cutting. After a haircut I was not pleased with at another hair salon (drastically cutting my hair from very long to short), she carefully went back in and fixed what was done wrong, giving me a haircut I was much much happier with! I've gone to the same Newbury salon for years. Over 10 years, I've only had two stylists. When Evie opened up almost around the corner from my home, it coincided almost exactly with when I was starting to feel a little "meh" with my hair. I took a chance and went in for a cut at Evie and was so happy I did. The price is incredibly reasonable for the quality of the cut and Rebecca was amazing. The fact that they managed to make that gorgeous space out of a Comcast service center still blows my mind. They're a great addition to the neighborhood and officially have my business moving forward. I think I've found my salon for the next decade! read more

Highly recommend Melissa! I came here on a whim last weekend and had a great experience. The space is really unique - almost like an art gallery mixed with a spa (lots of light). I have long, thin hair with a million split ends and Melissa really listened to what I wanted made it look healthy and stylish. She was also extremely personable. Oh and the price was totally reasonable - $50 for a cut/style. Only downside is no credit card machine yet (but they gave me a call to let me know, so not a big deal). I decided to try out Evie because the location is more convenient (and has parking!!!) than the Newbury Street salons. Arielle was super friendly and did a great job with the cut. The reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because it seemed like she had trouble blowing it out, and even had to straighten it afterwards to make sure the cut was even. This has happened to me before at a lower-end salon, but I think for the price and reputation of the salon, she should have been able to give me a normal blowout like I wanted. read more

And Melissa is an outstanding stylist: she's creative and super-skilled, pays attention to what you want, and guides you toward the right cut. The people here are all very pleasant and welcoming, they did their best to fit around my schedule. Unfortunately I paid a huge amount of money to get highlight which were well done where my hair should be parted but terrible everywhere else. They were done in large chunks and were not weaved leaving a stripy look which I had said was exactly what I didn't want. I paid 200 euro and have had to pay again to get them fixed somewhere else. read more

I have been coming to see Yvonne the owner for over a decade and have always been happy with her work. She now has her own salon with several other hair dressers. Collectively they have created an atmosphere of hospitality,ease and fun. I have watched each one of them spend time discussing with clients what they are looking for, offering to spend extra time to get things right.
