It is now 1618hrs and I've taken the day from work for a possible costly repair and for no tech to call or show. It's sad a company that provides a service can't in return respect possible customers time and give beneficial updates or cancellation notices. Brian came out quickly and accurately diagnosed the issue: a pin-sized hole in one of the PVC pipes underground in our front yard that feeds the house. We had noticed water running down the driveway and weren't sure if it was just runoff from recent rain or a broken pipe, especially since temperatures had been below freezing. Brian confirmed it was a leak by shutting off the water to the house and checking the meter--we were still using water. From there, Brian walked me through multiple options, ranging from a full pipe replacement to a targeted repair.
