Worst hotel stay. Sea urchin looking plants growing out of the toilet. Gross shower floor. Leaking bathroom ceiling. Dirty carpet. Tissues smelled bad. Small room with dim lighting. For a multiple night stay with four registered guests we were given three towels. Bathroom sink was very slow to drain. Ran out of tp and called for service but phone just rang and rang. Door to the room wouldn't latch without slamming it. Random stain on curtains. And we had booked a "renovated" queen! Instead got a dirty room with double beds. Pool was fine, but very crowded without supervision. They don't trust you with towels and only allot you a specific amount of rough small pool towels at the beginning of your stay. Breakfast was okay but time-consuming and the wait professional was kind so make sure you tip. In general, very outdated small room with small fridge and small microwave, which all could be fine for maybe under $99/night, but this whole place was disgusting. AVOID

We had car trouble and needed a place to stay for the night. We were so happy that we found this place. The staff was extremely friendly. They gave us a great room at a great price. Our fridge wasn't working and they replaced it in a matter of minutes. The pool, hot tub and sauna were perfect. The rooms were clean and updated. I'll be coming back here for sure. Hopefully to play some golf next time.

Fireplace suite ( master not shown) with pull-out sofa bed. Dated, but large and clean.

No cart girl and the halfway snack shop was closed on a Friday. Would be nice to have more than some warm water that was left out.

Breakfast was included, and it said they had a Sauna, which I am usually skeptical about because often these amenities are "closed".

It's unique that way. Now the bad part and what should change. (I was in the motel section). The room smelled bad, the floor around the toilet was rotted and made you feel like you might fall through, lots of ants crawling around in the room, poor lighting, no coffee pot, obsolete soap dispensers that were empty and carpet that should have been replaced 20 years ago. To the owners if you read this. . . INVEST some money back into your ASSET. Your letting it run into the ground, Stop being greedy short term and do some maintenance / upkeep. I've come here since I was a kid, more that 40 years ago. It's a shame to see the place fall apart.

Was really torn about this review. There were times during the week we stayed here when I thought…read morethis place was a solid 1-star operation. There were others when I thought, "Hey, this place isn't so bad!" Why I thought this was a one-starrer: *The carpet. Old, stained, smelly. Rip it out and replace it with tile or linoleum. Carpet generally is a bad idea in rental cabins. *The sofa reeked of wet dog. * Ventilation. There are two large picture windows in the main area of the cabin, which give fantastic views of the cabins across the driveway and the parking lot of the state park next door (yes, and Lake Mitchell too, barely), but don't open. There is a tiny window next to the stove that slides open, and if you open that, then leave the front door open (leaving the screen door closed), barely enough air will circulate to keep the temperature tolerable on a hot night. The bedroom windows swing in to open, which means they get caught in the curtains and you never get a nice steady draft though the night. Seriously, if you come in summer, bring a fan. Or two. *The ceiling tile was wavy, and one ceiling light was partially detached. Why I thought it wasn't so bad: *Aside from the carpet, the place was generally clean. * Shower was large, water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water. *Cooking/eating ware provided was cleaner, in better condition than in most other cabins we've stayed at. We usually bring some of our own, but probably could have gotten by without that here. *Bed was fairly comfortable. *The charcoal grill provided looked relatively new and clean. There is quite a bit of road noise here, though we've spent time in the area before and knew that going in. Our neighbors on the other hand were quiet for the most part. While I can't wholeheartedly recommend this place, if you do need a place to stay in Cadillac, you can probably get by here. I think it could actually be quite pleasant with some renovations.

Hair is hard to rid but when in the shower, it's gross. a vacuum works better when everything is dry. Many construction workers have to be out of town and on the job by 7. This particular Holiday Inn has complimentary breakfast at 6:30 but what stands out is they put a gate across the dining area to ensure people who have to leave early can't grab a piece of fruit and head off to work. I guess staff doesn't value the workers who chose to stay. Every other Holiday Inn I've stayed, their staff not only allowed guests to grab something quick but offered assistance. Pretty sad. So if you have to be at work early, know you aren't getting anything in your belly.

If you feel you have to work out after a long day or early morning , there is plenty of equipment to exercise available 24 hours. I had a great sleep there in a very quiet room...loved it The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of the usual, but me not a big breakfast eater, I focused more on the different kind of coffees available. Downtown is 2 1/2 minutes with the car with plenty of food places and bars.

From the outside you can convince yourself its charming but then you open the door and it's like walking into an episode of the Twilight Zone. It's like a scene from an old horror movie, I kept waiting for Norman Bates to show up. We had a 2 bedroom cottage with a living area, it had one small AC unit to cool the entire thing, needless to say it did not cool the room. There were an unusual amount of mirrors, kind of freaked me out, not sure what's behind those mirrors. The room was pretty clean, as clean as you can get 30 year old carpet. The sheets appeared clean but there were spider webs in all the corners and the water smelled like a combination or iron and sewer. We did not sleep well. It could be a great place if someone fixed it up, great location.

Lots of small kids running around and screaming, smokers pacing in front of every door so you can't walk outside and get fresh air, incredibly tacky and cheap furnishings (the lamp shades started melting teen minutes after turning the lamps on. Yikes!), and drug dealers in every other room. Really does remind me of my childhood. It's really only one step better than sleeping in our car, which we almost picked over this. We're only staying here because it's supposed to rain this week and the car would be too chilly for us.
