While the rooms are dated (which I don't care about for the affordability), they were VERY clean. I cannot convey that enough. The breakfast was the standard "breakfast included" faire with scrambled eggs, sausage, and waffle batter / makers, but they also provided fresh sliced fruit and the juices were presented in iced carafes instead of juice dispensers and we dined in a beautiful room overlooking the snow covered golf course on cloth table cloths, with cloth napkins and stemmed juice glasses. To our delight and surprise, the heated, indoor pool was clean and well kept, and had a lovely, functioning sauna, and a large whirlpool with adjacent bathrooms that were all exceptionally clean. We will definitely stop here again on our adventures.

We drove 3 hours to play golf here, and have been coming for my birthday for 20 years. Bought a Group Golfer back in May. They should've contacted us and let us know about the greens, and offered a discount. We believe they're shutting it down, but are not saying anything. To repair the current damage will cost a small fortune. We've heard the owner gives zero shits, so we'll never be back. Sad. Beautiful piece of property, wasted. Hope someone will buy it, and fix it up. There isn't one flower on the course. They grow awesome weeds though. Go elsewhere. It just plain sucks.

Some of the rooms have balconies/porches, some open right to the outside like a motel, and some are just regular hotel rooms, plus theres a section where they allow dogs, so theres a lot of options. There's a nice sandy beach right outside, which was probably the best part. At breakfast they had coffee, juice, frozen waffles, toast, bagels, hardboiled eggs, muffins etc. There were biscuits and Gravy too There's a coffee shop and party store (with an ice cream counter!) Basically in the parking lot, and a lot of nearby restaurants, even within walking distance.

There were others when I thought, "Hey, this place isn't so bad!" Why I thought this was a one-starrer: *The carpet. Old, stained, smelly. Rip it out and replace it with tile or linoleum. Carpet generally is a bad idea in rental cabins. *The sofa reeked of wet dog. * Ventilation. There are two large picture windows in the main area of the cabin, which give fantastic views of the cabins across the driveway and the parking lot of the state park next door (yes, and Lake Mitchell too, barely), but don't open. There is a tiny window next to the stove that slides open, and if you open that, then leave the front door open (leaving the screen door closed), barely enough air will circulate to keep the temperature tolerable on a hot night. The bedroom windows swing in to open, which means they get caught in the curtains and you never get a nice steady draft though the night. Seriously, if you come in summer, bring a fan. Or two. *The ceiling tile was wavy, and one ceiling light was partially detached. Why I thought it wasn't so bad: *Aside from the carpet, the place was generally clean. * Shower was large, water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water. *Cooking/eating ware provided was cleaner, in better condition than in most other cabins we've stayed at. We usually bring some of our own, but probably could have gotten by without that here. *Bed was fairly comfortable. *The charcoal grill provided looked relatively new and clean. There is quite a bit of road noise here, though we've spent time in the area before and knew that going in. Our neighbors on the other hand were quiet for the most part. While I can't wholeheartedly recommend this place, if you do need a place to stay in Cadillac, you can probably get by here. I think it could actually be quite pleasant with some renovations.

It's like a scene from an old horror movie, I kept waiting for Norman Bates to show up. We had a 2 bedroom cottage with a living area, it had one small AC unit to cool the entire thing, needless to say it did not cool the room. There were an unusual amount of mirrors, kind of freaked me out, not sure what's behind those mirrors. The room was pretty clean, as clean as you can get 30 year old carpet. The sheets appeared clean but there were spider webs in all the corners and the water smelled like a combination or iron and sewer. We did not sleep well. It could be a great place if someone fixed it up, great location.

Lots of small kids running around and screaming, smokers pacing in front of every door so you can't walk outside and get fresh air, incredibly tacky and cheap furnishings (the lamp shades started melting teen minutes after turning the lamps on. Yikes!), and drug dealers in every other room. Really does remind me of my childhood. It's really only one step better than sleeping in our car, which we almost picked over this. We're only staying here because it's supposed to rain this week and the car would be too chilly for us.

I would highly recommend this hotel…read more Last night there was a snowstorm in the area and whiteout conditions meant that it was not safe to drive at all. I stopped here for a room. Nate, the employee who greeted me, was so kind. They did not have any rooms available and he was extremely apologetic. I went to use their restroom and I came back and he had called the other hotels in the area and found one right down the street that had a room! I was so incredibly grateful since it was not at all safe to drive further. A few moments later as I was about to leave. He asked me to wait a moment and had received a text from the owner who had given me permission to use a room that apparently is normally not available on the reservation system. The room was clean, quiet, and I got a really sound night's sleep. I am so grateful to Nate for helping me. Had he not helped me find a room, whether it was at his hotel or the hotel down the street that I was not aware even existed, I would have had to sleep in my car.
