I snatched up one of the remaining parking spots directly out front of Helping Hands Thrift Store…read morewhen I visited yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 31 December 2024). Additional parking was located up above/to the side of the store. The entrance/exit was straightforward to navigate and the open sign was clearly displayed along with store hours in the window. Entering the store, I was greeted by a worker and found myself facing a large area with lots of clothing. Walking in to the store on the search for thank you cards, I noticed a doorway to the left which had some home goods. I turned in and noted Christmas/holiday items on sale. After looking around, I found a stationary section with a number of different card options. I also found a bag of just envelopes. As I sometimes make cards for people, this was a sweet find as I could now mail the cards I made. I selected the envelopes and one of the thank you card options. The cashier area was located inside the entrance/exit. A bell was available to ding if the worker was not at the counter. My total came to less than four dollars and my cash payment was accepted. Leaving the parking lot, I found the fit could be a bit tight. However, one car departed as I was about to pull out, opening up additional space so my departure was not so tight.

It's very organized and clean, and their stock rotates quickly. I like to chat with the volunteers about my purchases, they often have a fun story to share about the items. They accept a wide variety of items for donation, and have expanded to a furniture showroom close to the train tracks. That showroom has beautiful pieces, as well as lots of framed artwork. Sometimes I stop by more than once a week to see what's new!

I'm here in Monroe because of an offer up deal I was doing at the nearby Lowe's so I'm about almost an hour out of my ways due to traffic, and out of a completely spontaneous decision I went into the nearby goodwill. I don't frequent most places, but I have been to probably an unhealthy amount of goodwills. Idk why but even if I don't have time I usually make time if I see one I haven't gone to because it's such a random occurrence of events to find a dope find. Tbh in the last 5 years I've grown to usually take about 10 minutes tops to get in and out due to the mediocrity that is so casual for goodwill but I'm here to say that I want to go on record confidently stating this is the best goodwill I've ever been to. No, it's not doing something out of the scope of goodwills agenda, but everything you expect from a goodwill they are doing in an ideal way. The team here is just putting out such a variety of items and EVERYTHING is in sellable condition. Holy moly it's organized. I've seen organized goodwills but it's not common, and it's unheard of to see the combo of variety and organization. Tbh I was forcing myself out after finding like 3 amazing things because of my budget, so I didn't have any interaction with the staff or anything, but who cares. The store itself shows these people are talented and care about what they do. This review will amount to nothing, but this should be said. Thank you Monroe Goodwill and keep flippin thriving! My family and I are from California. Growing up going to the Pulga was a fun experience. Since I've…read moremoved, I've had trouble finding community but this place (along with some others) helped me feel at home. My family visiting also fell in love! They liked it better than San Jose's. All to say, the people are so nice, the music was fun, and it felt welcoming. Food options were great and sure, some vendors can sell things at higher prices but that doesn't speak for the majority.

We arrived at 4pm and several vendors were packing up. I remember going to the Midway Swap Meat in Kent at the old Drive in. The place the inspired the Sir Mix A lot song, "Swap Meet Louie". It was 2-3x the size with an indoor area, so my expectation for this place was the same. What I saw was a lot of tools. Mostly used, but some new. A little bit of clothing and a lot of collectables like sports card, Pokémon and matchbox cars. There were also a lot of ethnic food stands and limited produce. For a dollar, you can't complain, but it wasn't worth the long traffic abused ride. I saw a couple things I was interested in and almost bought, then google search showed me I could find them new for less. The two items I did buy, were a great deal. Great place to find gift ideas, just make sure you know the value of what you're buying.
