The extensive menu contains cuisine from Nepal, Tibet, and India. While waiting for the main course, I enjoyed the small but filling cup of complimentary yellow lentil soup with shredded orange carrot--what a beautiful color combination. A nice first course. The walls are decorated with prints of Himalayan scenes. The head chef was a Sherpa for Everest summiteers (!) and his cousin, Kami Rita Sherpa, holds the record for Everest summits! That's quite amazing for an unassuming restaurant tucked in an outdoor shopping center in Petaluma. The mango lassi was so delectable, I finished it as my 2nd course. I chose Chicken 65-a "must try!" on their menu; delicious. It's marinated and boneless chicken, spices, ginger, garlic, lemon, fresh curry leaves, mustard seeds, and yogurt. My companion selected the Apricot Chicken in coconut curry sauce. Note that the chicken is very well cooked--perhaps pan-seared ? before the scrumptious apricot coconut curry sauce with a few dried apricots is generously dolloped over these chunks of chicken. I selected the garlic basil naan for a very slight up-charge to dip into the apricot coconut curry sauce. I ordered mild medium; the spice was flavorful and well-balanced but not hot. Very sweet and attentive wait staff. Plenty of parking.

The ice water here was incredible. Without having to ask, tall, cold glasses with the perfect amount of ice arrived at our table. Refills kept coming throughout the evening. I recommend.

Years of consistently authentic, fresh, sizzling delicious food. Himalayan/Nepal delight!! Been dining here for years it is always clean, friendly service, and yummy food. Very reasonably priced based on the food portions. Had not been here in almost two years, but it has only improved.

Allu banta was very tasty and on the sweeter side but I like sweet curries. The chicken 65 is labeled as their must try, but to me it was just okay. The lamb boti kabob had huge chunks of meat which was very good. Garlic naan was flaky and crispy, not too heavy. Left very full and satisfied.

Great food. Very delicious Nepalese Indian fare in a decent table service ambiance. Ordered palak paneer and butter chicken. Tasty fluffy naan. Pricey side but had quite a following amongst diverse group of patrons.

I grew up in Petaluma and only recently visited this place. Waiting so long was a huge mistake, this place is absolutely delicious! I walked in with my siblings on a Friday afternoon during lunch hour. There was only one other family sitting in the restaurant. We were quickly greeted by our waitress who was also super helpful. We started with an appetizer plate which came with chicken, pakoras, and a samosa! The chicken was a bit dry but the pakoras and samosa were amazing! The sauces that came with them were incredibly flavorful and really elevated the appetizer. We got the lunch specials. I opted for a potato/cauliflower dish and my siblings got chicken dishes (I believe tikka masala and curry). All of our plates came with chana masala and a yellow lentil dish, salad, rice, and naan. The lentil soup was one of the best things I've had. My sister doesn't even like lentils and she devoured them as well. The channa masala was my second favorite. This is my go to dish and Indian restaurants and it was super flavorful. The cauliflower dish was my least favorite. It was too sweet for my liking and I don't know if I would get it again. My siblings both loved how juicy and flavorful their chicken was. The naan was also fluffy, buttery, and delicious. I absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back!!

We love their thali! Vegetarian hubby got saag paneer and Meat eater me (got chicken curry). Well seasoned, perfect amount of spices and salt. Friendly service, great quality, fresh food. It was worth the 45 min drive.

I resisted going to this place because I am of Indian origin and have spent 25 years in San Jose and I have had the best Indian food in the Bay Area. When I saw that this is an Indian, Nepalese, Tibetan food in my mind I was " Jack of all master of none". It was also undergoing renovation for a while and so I never had opportunity to go in. This week our group wanted to have Indian food and only Indian food in town in Petaluma is this place. I was genuinely surprised. While the spice level on all the dishes could be couple of notches higher, the food was tasty. We had a round of thalis with different dishes but I had the non-veg chicken tikka masala Thali which came with dal, Naan, some rice, salad, and all of them were exceptionally tasty. Will recommend this place to anybody looking for Indian food in Petaluma.

I can see why because their food is delicious. Fiancé and I got their momo platter (4 each of the veggie, pork and chicken momo), chicken kabob, and chicken thukpa (noodle soup). We have never had thukpa before and it was pretty good and warming. Perfect on a chilly night. Momos were juicy, and beautifully wrapped. The chicken kabob came out sizzling and was quite juicy. Their portion size is great. We even had some leftovers for next day. Service was fast and friendly. Was impressed there were just two people waiting tables/taking orders for a full house. Food came out quick and there were even a couple takeout orders while we were there so they definitely managed the flow quite well. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

That might not be a great thing though because the food just didn't have enough flavor for me. To be fair, maybe it's a difference between Indian and Himalayan food, I'm not really sure. I think it might work for people who would enjoy Indian cuisine if the flavors were more subtle. Service was friendly and everything was prepped well, it just wasn't for me. I wish I would have noticed the dumplings on the menu before ordering or that the staff would have pointed them out, because I would have liked to try them and I'm not sure if or when I'll be back.

The all you can eat lunch buffet has a lot of delicious variety. The selection can change on a daily basis. My wife is vegetarian and we love all the vegetarian choices. Today, some on my favorite items in the buffet were the tandoori chicken and the vegetable curry. The papadam and the chutneys are really good. What separates Darbar's chutney from others is the flavor and the thickness (while other restaurants water their chutneys down). This is one example of the attention to details the makes this my go to for this cuisine. The folks working there are friendly and provide good customer service. It being one of the newer Indian/Nepali Restaurants in town, we decided to give the buffet a try for a Thanksgiving meal. We were promptly seated, we preferred the booth. I can vouch for the Yogurt with Veggies (Raita), Samosas, papad, rice pudding (kheer). They tasted great, I repeated each one. For the other food options (I am vegetarian), my Indian food palate and cravings were left craving for more. The veggies -both were heavily cauliflower based and with similar flavour, not much tasteful. Dal had a strong garlic taste. Palak paneer was made in a different style, though away from the traditional recipe but it was nice tasting. The yogurt fruit dessert was not much picked, I too tasted, but wasn't impressed. We tried the Taj Mahal Lager beer, it is very good, a must try. The restaurant is huge, clean, servers are attentive, buffet is well placed and served at ideal temperatures (both hot and cold). Over all for a vegetarian meal, it was Quite an Average Experience. I may want to keep to ordering an a la carte meal in case we plan to visit again.
