Lamb Korma
Maranda R.

Since being in Anchorage, I've tried one other Indian restaurant but so far, Everest has easily become my favorite. I've now been there twice, and both visits have been consistently excellent. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the smell. It's amazing. The warm aroma of spices fills the air immediately rich, fragrant, and comforting. Every time I step inside, it makes me even more excited to sit down and eat. So far, I've tried the chicken tikka masala, goat curry, chicken korma, and butter chicken, and while everything has been good, the real stars of the dinners have been the goat curry and the korma. The goat curry is deeply flavorful and beautifully seasoned, with tender meat and a rich, slow-cooked depth that really stands out. It has that hearty, authentic taste that keeps you going back for another bite. The chicken korma has also been exceptional smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced with warm spices. It's comforting without being too heavy and full of flavor without overpowering your palate. The chicken tikka masala and butter chicken were both delicious as well creamy, satisfying, and well-prepared but the goat curry and korma are the dishes I find myself thinking about afterward. What really stands out about Everest is the consistency. Both visits delivered bold flavors, generous portions, and that welcoming, spice-filled atmosphere that makes you want to come back again. If you're craving Indian food in Anchorage, this is definitely the spot I'd recommend first.

June 2024 - decent stop for a quick buffet lunch or dinner, taste of the food is acceptable, the servers and hospitality is great This restaurant appears to be Nepali origin, I would recommend to try their Nepali fare - momos, soups etc Restaurant and restrooms are clean

What a blast! We had my birthday dinner at Everest and they did such a good job and the food was AMAZING. Don't sleep on the okra and the gobi Manchurian in particular. One of our favorite restaurants in Anchorage!

Food was delicious, but service was lacking. Took a long time to be seated & even longer to order. Seems like the priority was on the drive thru/carry out orders & not so much the dine in customers. Could easily be a 5 star restaurant for me, just add more dining room staff. Seems like once the kitchen got the order, it came out quickly, was piping hot & fresh. Would suggest just getting a pickup order.

Went in to try the lunch buffet. A perfect way to try a lot of different dishes for only $20. Also, brought us out a basket for fresh naan. Everything tasted super good. Staff was very nice and attentive. Will be back to this restaurant soon.

0 Star Very bad service - never going back! They gave our order to someone else and then blamed us, saying we had taken the food. The waiter was extremely rude and said he would check the cameras. Eventually, they realized it was their mistake, but even after that, no apology at all. And to make things worse, when they finally gave us our order, it was incomplete! If you make an error, the least you can do is own up to it and be polite. Unfortunately, this place has horrible customer service.

This place goes so hard. My leftover plate of food does not do this place justice because my bestie was so excited to eat the food that we forgot to take a picture of the presentation. Even though this was a take out order this place delivers on all things from friendly service and high quality food stuffed with flavour. If there's anything to brighten your atmosphere, Everest does not disappoint.

Friendly staff and decent food. Dining room looks a little old and dated but the food compensated for it. Food came quickly, the beryani chicken was flavorful and spicy. We also ordered garlic naan and chicken vindoloo.

Lamb chops

Lamb chops were absolutely delicious. Loved the spice rub on them. Butter chicken was not the best I ever had but solid. Not particularly the most attentive waiters. Overall taste was great and I'd try many more things on the menu.

Plain Naan

Throughly enjoyed the food. They were great about modulating the heat of the dishes to the customer. You can either order off the menu or have the buffet. Service was good.

This place is an ENORMOUS disappointment

Taste of India is my go to place to order consistently wonderful Indian food. I have yet to visit…read morein person, but every single time I place a delivery order the food has been correct, hot and on time. There are a plethora of menu options, surely to satisfy everyone's desired flavor profiles. My go to order is the Chicken Korma, Paneer Kulcha, and Mango Lassi. The Chicken Korma is tender, the sauce is super creamy as well as flavorful with that signature nutty fruity mixture. The Paneer Kulcha is also wonderful, it has just the right amount of cheese in it that it's not greasy. Lastly, the Mango Lassi, it is very mango, but still remains rich and yogurty. I highly recommend you check this place out next time the desire to get Indian strikes you.

We started with the sampler pakoras, which was perfect for a first visit because you get a little bit of everything, vegetable samosa, vegetable pakora, paneer pakora, and chicken pakora. Honestly just a great way to try a mix without overthinking it, and everything came out fresh and really good. For mains, we ordered the chicken tikka masala at medium heat, and I'd say it definitely leans more mild. It was good, but didn't quite have the depth or spice I personally look for in a tikka masala. It almost ate more like a tomato-based dish rather than that rich, bold flavor I usually expect. Still enjoyed it, just not as flavorful as I was hoping for. We also got the tandoori mixed grill with sheikh kabab, tandoori chicken, and tandoori shrimp, and that was a great call, especially with garlic naan. Probably my favorite part of the meal and a really good option if you want to try a few different things. Service was super fast even though the place was busy, and everything just felt really taken care of, waters stayed filled, to-go boxes came out right away, no waiting around for anything. Overall, really good food, great service, and an easy first visit. Definitely a spot I'd come back to and order more from the menu.

I called in a take out order at 5pm when they opened. I was looking at the menu online. The man on the phone told me "we don't don't do vindaloo anymore" and then read me off a newer version of the menu. I asked where I could look at a newer version of the menu, he told me instagram and...that was the same menu. Eventually I found a different version of the menu on Facebook Folks, update your menu on your website! I was told the food would be ready at 6pm. I got there at 6 and waited another 40+ minutes. I was told my food was "next" and "coming out soon" but I just continued to awkwardly stand there and wait. I get that things can take a while, but I think it'd be helpful to at least offer a seat or a drink if it's going be an additional 40 minutes for take out.

While we waited, the owner's father--who is Nepali--kept making unprofessional comments about a neighboring Indian restaurant, criticizing their food and service. It was uncomfortable and unnecessary. When the food finally came, it was terrible. Bland, poorly made, and absolutely not worth the wait. To make it worse, Yelp shows this place at 4.6 stars, which is completely misleading based on our experience. If this is the level of service and food quality when the restaurant is nearly empty, I can't imagine what it's like on a busy night. Definitely not somewhere I'd ever go back to or recommend.

They did an impressive job of making all of the food taste authentic, not your typical bistro or fusion master of none style menus. We ordered butter chicken, pho rare steak, basket naan, chicken biryani, and chicken korma. The pho was phenomenal, just like in Vietnam, with an average portion of meat, overall very large portions and great flavor. The butter chicken was soupy and tasty, plenty of chicken, and large enough for anyone to be satisfied. I'm not typically a fan of biryani, but the chicken biryani had the perfect amount of spice, and almost addicting taste and heaping pile of food, enough for 3 meals! I did not like the chicken korma, but my wife loved it - with a unique yet non spicy flavor. The naan basket was also large, with 3 flavors of naan. Overall, the only negative thing was limited parking in the winter, otherwise I will definitely be back!
