They texted back on the following morning, Friday indicating someone would reach out to us. They did not. Since we were out of town for the weekend anyway, it was not too much of a problem but we were hoping they would be able to call us and schedule for Monday. On Sunday night, we texted again, did not hear back until Monday morning 8:30ish indicating they would not be available for 2 weeks. They could have told us this on Thursday evening or Friday morning so we could schedule with someone else. They obviously do not care about potential new customers.

Oscar the owner of Whitestone Heating and Cooling deserves this 5 review!!…read moreAlthough I ultimately had to go with a different HVAC company due to scheduling needs, I wanted to take a moment to recognize Whitestone Heating and Cooling--and especially Oscar, the owner--for his exceptional service and professionalism. From the moment I reached out for a quote, Oscar was incredibly responsive, transparent, and honest about his availability and what to expect. He took the time to explain the options, answered all my questions thoroughly, and never tried to upsell or pressure me into anything. It's rare to come across that level of integrity and clear communication in the home services industry. Even though we couldn't move forward this time, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Whitestone to anyone looking for reliable, trustworthy HVAC services. Looking forward to using this company in the future!

Oscar won my business by giving me a low offer for a name brand unit. The one he put in was not the system he told me he'd use. Nonetheless, I didn't care since I was selling the house anyway. The one day job turned into months. They were in my house for hours for at least a week. When they "finished" Oscar said they'd come back the following week to check on things. Of course that didn't happen. But in fairness, it hadn't turned hot yet. When it did, he was no where to be found. I was forgotten like a used tissue. The last day they were here, I noticed damage to my floor. It bubbled from something cold being placed on it. I brought this to Oscar's attention and all he said was "oh." Days later, I noticed a wire that was just hanging and asked him about it. He minimized it and said they'd forgot to cut it but he was out of the country. Weeks went by and no phone call, no text no nothing. On June 1st, I texted him about the wire but he didn't respond. I woulda been content to hide and tuck the wires until the central air stopped cooling my house. It literally worked two days and then it stopped working. I messaged him on June 4th and he squeezed me in the same night. He was here for hours; in and out, in and out until he finally said that whatever the problem was he'd have to fix "tomorrow." The next day (tomorrow) the whole morning went by and nothing, not a peep from him. That afternoon, June 6th I finally texted asking him when he was coming to which he said, "Ga. The store won't have tanks until Monday. When can we get back in?" So, that Monday he came and "fixed" the issue. Oscar said something about it being hot outside and blah blah blah. Idk or care what he had to say because the condenser is supposed to work in the summer. That's exactly why you get central air. I was on vacation for a week. When I returned the house was cold. A few days later the condenser stopped working. I googled if it was normal and learned it was not and that indicated a problem. So, I texted, "Again, the outside piece isn't on. It's 74 degrees in the house although it's set for 70. It worked earlier but now it's not. I looked up if it's common for the condenser to be off and the blower on and it said no; that indicates a problem. I'll check again in the morning but I know this shouldn't be happening. Especially since it's cooler at night." I then looked on my camera and saw that it stopped working around 19:18. June 11 I texted him that the machine stopped working again. He asked if it's on outside to which I told him no. A few hours later I called him and let him know that the machine started cooling. On June 19th I texted him, "Again, the outside piece isn't on. It's 74 degrees in the house although it's set for 70. It worked earlier but now it's not. I looked up if it's common for the condenser to be off and the blower on and it said no; that indicates a problem. I'll check again in the morning but I know this shouldn't be happening. Especially since it's cooler at night." His response, "Reset it in the wrong cut the switch off and on again see if it turns on." After some more back and forth, he asked if I was back from vacation. Unfortunately I wasn't home. On June 29th, I asked if there was any way for the air to go upstairs. It should be known that the system when it works only cools downstairs and doesn't cool the second floor. He responded that he's away until Thursday. Today is July 1 and the hottest day of the whole year so far and the AC is not working. I heard gurgling noises coming from it and found liquid on the system. When I reached out to Oscar, he didn't respond. I informed him that I think the machine was refurbished because something brand new shouldn't have all these problems. I showed him pictures of the water. At this point, I'm contemplating going to court for a refund.

I called several places, but Alex was the first to respond. Over the coming days, as the callbacks came in, I was told that I'd need to schedule a consultation. In contrast, Alex asked if he could stop by that day or the next. Due to a hectic schedule, I asked a friend to be at the house. Alex was very flexible to coordinate with my stand-in. While I was away, knowing I was unable to talk, Alex texted me pictures of the problem and let me know he'd return shortly (something had frozen solid, so it needed t thaw). When he was done, he texted me that the unit was not leveled properly, and it would probably become a problem in the future. I opted not to have it fixed at that time. My bad. Jump ahead to this year... The AC stopped working again this summer. I called Alex on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, and he got right back to me, offering to come Monday (Memorial Day) morning. Again, I scheduled for a stand in, and Alex made himself available right away. He observed something simple and fixed it right away. He also did a full system check up to make sure all levels were fine and everything was working properly. A few weeks later, there was a completely different problem. It related to the system sitting off-kilter. At this point, he offered a fairly expensive fix, but he said it may work or it may be more of a band aid, as the system will need to be replaced in the coming years anyway because 1) it's run its course, and 2) the type of system will become obsolete in 2020. I was skeptical, so I called my brother who is a contractor in Central PA and has a good HVAC guy. That HVAC guy does work all over the east coast, so he'd have some sense of what's what in Philadelphia. He gave some numbers and ideas, and said that Alex was spot-on with his estimate and the info about the system being obsolete in 2020. Alex was all booked up for the week, so he offered to make the quick fix Monday morning at no cost to hold the system over until he was available the following week to replace the unit. Due to a cancelation, he was able to come today. In addition to the normal work, he had to remove a banister to get the unit to the basement, then he found some 60 gallons of water had condensed and filled some part of the unit, and then he built up an area to make sure the new unit was balanced. He did so much extra work, and then he cleaned it all up. AND THEN, because I was at work, he was able to stop by my workplace on his way home for me to pay him. Really incredible work, incredible availability, and incredible communication. And my brother's guy said he was surprised that the price was as low as it was for being in the city. I expect Alex will get too busy for all of that in the near future, but he's my go to now, and I know I can trust him. Further, he's just really nice. I have enjoyed our communication, and I'm really happy to direct business his way.

Two more companies came out and said he lied, and fixed the minor issue for under $200. Story: Miquel used to be honest. He is now an addict and thief. I paid Miquel a $3k deposit for an AC replacement he said I needed. Miquel failed to start the project and then informed me that he would not be completing the work and would refund me. Looking at his reviews and prior lawsuits, this theft is a pattern of behavior. It has now been a month, Miquel has gone MIA. He has failed to return my deposit and I am suing him. I had my unit inspected by two other HVAC companies who told me that he was lying and my unit is completely fine. He has been sued before for similar types of fraud and scumbag behavior. Honestly, I am relieved that he was too high to start the work in the first place because who knows what damage he would have done to my home. Miquel also made unwelcome sexual advances through text prior to running off with my money. He randomly sent me inappropriate photos -- I fear his theft is partially retaliation for rejecting his unwelcome advances. He is a predator who builds trust and relationships with his clients via smaller jobs to scam them with bigger jobs in the future. What a horrible, shameful and deceptive man. Unfortunately, I notice that through the years Miquel's once healthy appearance is replaced with a man who has lost significant weight, missing teeth, and now he is stealing from his long time, loyal customers.
