I hired Joan and My Private Beach Club for my wife's 50th birthday bash at the beach with 24 of our…read morefriends and family and let me tell you, I was more than impressed; I was blown away, as were our friends. Joan was referred to me by a caterer that we ended up not using and she wasn't the first company I contacted. A friend recommended a friend of hers but she ghosted me for a few days and Joan instantly impressed me with her prompt, continual and very clear communication, reviews, proven track record and most importantly, professionalism. Honestly, I don't know how long Joan has been doing this but one would think she's been doing it for decades. Oh, and when the other decorator finally got back to me and I had told her I had chosen another company, she ghosted me again...not even a 'thank you for your consideration, maybe next time' text. I easily and painlessly worked out a theme, plan and cost with Joan and I've got to admit, I'm not one of the easiest fellas to work with. Add to that that I've never done anything like this before. The location was actually at our "private beach club", the private Portuguese Bend Beach Club, a location Joan was familiar with but had never worked. Access to the sand is easy as you can park right up to it, however, I chose a location about 75 yards from the parking area, right near the water's edge. Despite the relatively unfamiliar location and extra distance, Joan was eager and up for the challenge. Online contracts were simple and professional and payments were made in two installments online, once at the time of booking and once three days prior to the event. On the day of the event, Joan and her husband arrived with plenty of time to set up for our 4pm event start. When we arrived at around 3:30, we were blown away at how beautiful everything was. We used PBC's (Portuguese Bend Club) own picnic tables to form a long table instead of the low tables and Joan dressed them absolutely beautifully with tablecloths, runners, chargers, plates, two types of glasses (one for cocktails and one for wine), lovely utensils, candles and stunning, big and lush floral arrangements to suit my wife's color palette. Joan also set up 3 big umbrellas over the tables for some shade. By the way, even after sitting out on the beach that afternoon, those lovely flowers lasted well over a week and still looked absolutely beautiful! Joan also set up two lounge areas which were perfect and cozy as well as a buffet table for drinks and appetizers. Joan didn't even charge me for the buffet table, cocktail glasses and appetizer platters. I had brought some of my own glasses and platters but she was kind enough to throw hers in. Super nice touch. One thing happened that we were only momentarily devastated by was that the wind picked up exactly at 4pm when our party started and two of the umbrellas took flight and crashed on top of 2/3 of our lovely long table, breaking many of the beautiful glasses and some other things. Needless to say, I was not happy and I turned to Joan and said, 'This is not good.' Well, being the incredible planner that Joan is, get this, she had EVERYTHING back up and looking gorgeous moments later. She swapped out the umbrellas for beautiful lacey ones that would be more suitable in the wind and cleaned up and replaced all the broken glasses and things. WHAT A PRO! My wife absolutely loved her beautiful 50th birthday party at the beach and we all had such a wonderful time. I highly, highly, highly recommend Joan and 'My Private Beach Club' to take very good care of your next event.

She'd take multiple calls to walk through logistics, prepped me for scenarios I hadn't thought of, and took the lead on coordinating with all my vendors. Her experience with the Southern California area really shown through because she had insight to which vendors would meet my needs and which of my ideas would thrive. Organization: Insane. Not a single thing went wrong during my wedding. The vendors only had 2 hours to move everything in and one hour to remove everything and it went seamlessly. I mean we had 230+ guests and no one had to wait for the buffet line for more than 20 min! Everyone who was a part of the wedding knew exactly where they needed to be and we stayed on schedule. Look. I know there are so many wedding planners out there. But Danielle is a USC business school boss and takes this job so seriously. Social distancing was maintained and there were three parts to our daughter's special day. What I thought would be good food served at room temperature (with me spending much of my time in my kitchen), became a four course meal, with the entree served hot! Throughout the afternoon/evening, Danielle asked my daughter if there was anything she needed, and made her feel like the bride she was!!! Getting my husband to take a shower, and keep everyone on time, made her worth her weight in gold!!! The owner, Pam, was super nice and very accommodating. She definitely goes above and beyond to help you have a beautiful and stress free event!
