Having Emily was the best best best decision we made for the two tumultuous years of wedding planning during the worldwide pandemic, starting summer 2019 until the summer of 2021. This is probably longer than an average time to work with your wedding planner, but never did Emily ever disappoint us with a single planning component or process. She is obviously detail-oriented and organized, but what differentiates Emily from other planners is that she really enjoys what she does. She was genuinely happy for us when we had our backyard Zoom wedding in 2020, took a cute screenshot of us happily exiting the aisle on Zoom, and said, "This is my favorite picture of you guys!" At our real celebration with all our friends and family in 2021, she took a lot of amazing pictures and videos on her phone and sent them to us. Not a single thing went wrong on our special day: Emily and her team helped us enjoy our time with our guests and party without worries. It was our dream wedding. I was in my first years of medical school, which meant that I had less time than other brides. We were also far away from our Long Beach venue, living in the Pacific Northwest. But Emily was flexible with these circumstances and communicated with our photo/video, flower, venue, DJ vendors about the logistics, postponing due to the pandemic, etc., while passing us the baton at the proper time when we needed to make decisions or talk to the vendors ourselves. We met Emily at the ExpoBridal show in January 2017 in Anaheim and our first impressions were that she was warm, friendly, and professional. Though we were already in contact with several other wedding coordination companies that were recommended by our venue, we were so impressed with Emily, that we decided almost immediately to sign with her for month-of wedding coordination for our January 2018 wedding. We had our share of stressful moments related to vendors and family on the month of our wedding. We had one issue with a vendor double-booking our wedding date. Emily helped us with quickly finding a last-minute replacement who ended up doing amazing work! It saved us a lot of unnecessary stress. No matter what, Emily always had a level head and she gave practical feedback that helped us make clear decisions. She took control of coordinating the timelines with our vendors and she made it possible for us to enjoy our wedding without having to worry about the details of our event. She also provided helpful recommendations for some vendors that would be great to work with. Another outstanding characteristic about Emily is that she was great with open communication. Even if we were not looking for a quick response, during the month of the wedding, she often responded to emails or texts quickly. And when it came to communicating with vendors, she was also on top of everything. She knew exactly what we wanted and she handled things and advocated for us in the way we would have wanted for it to be done. My husband and I hired Emily for our wedding on 10/2/2020 at Hotel Maya in Long Beach, CA and we are SO glad we did!!!! Emily and her team are amazing, she did such a great job and I couldn't be happier. Because of her and her wonderful team my husband and I got to enjoy and actually experience our wedding instead of running it. These are some of the words and phrases that come to mind when I think of my experience with Emily. SUMMARY We hired Emily for Day-Of Coordination services. But we got more than what we paid for - this is a positive. We got to work with her for over two months prior to the event. She attended one of our site visits a month prior to the event, the Rehearsal the day before the event, brought an Assistant for our event, and even housed some of our decorations during the Rehearsal. Emily is a true professional and delight to work with. She is an asset to any event with her combination of organizational skills, positive and observant attitude, and quick troubleshooting mind. THE EVENT: Sept 2016 Wedding. 125 guests. Location: Cherry Valley, CA. Venue: Highland Springs Resort (90 miles outside of LA - so consider that when I mention her attending site visits) FIRST IMPRESSSIONS: Great. I met Emily at a Bridal Show. So she was not a recommendation, but someone I discovered on my own. [I share this because everyone has a different mantra on how they discover their vendors.] What drew me to Emily's booth was that it was clean, simple, and nice. She was selling her Coordination Services and her booth presence made that clear. I liked that because I was looking for a Coordinator and not a Coordinator/MC/Florist/... When I met Emily I instantly liked her because she was 1) not pushy about me hiring her, 2) not presumptive about my readiness - instead she asked me questions about my process in order to gauge this for herself. Other Coordinators I had met at shows would offer me unsolicited advice and then go on to tell me how wonderful they are; and yet rarely took the time to ask more than the generic wedding event questions of 1) do you have a coordinator? 2) what's your budget? 3) when's your event? Those questions are obvious. No, Emily asked me "Why do you think you need a Coordinator?" This question indicated to me that she wanted to be sure that I knew what I wanted. WORKING WITH EMILY: Great Weddings are (sadly) not just about the bride and groom. They are about keeping these two sane. Not only did Emily provide thoughtful advice on how to organize and present information (e.g. invitations), but she was also a great sounding board during moments when the stresses of planning and managing other (idiot) vendors were reaching peak levels. I am an extremely detail oriented person. This was my wedding right? and Emily cannot read my mind. Some people can see this as being a micro-manager or overbearing. But instead, Emily encouraged my attention to detail because she confirmed 1) She can't read my mind and 2) it helped her key in on what areas I was missing, to which we relied on her experience and expertise. I apologize to Emily for taking so long to write this review. To her credit, she has also been helping me deal with some of the post-wedding issues and stresses, such as collecting items from the event and dealing with vendors who continue to be problems (yes, you are not done after the wedding finishes, sadly). ANOTHER THING A friend of mine who was getting married in October (2016) was experiencing issues with his Coordinator (who was very unresponsive and did not at all listen to his clients about their needs) contacted me to ask about Emily's services. Our wedding date was August 1, 2020. What a crazy year to get married. Our original wedding date was postponed due to the pandemic and we rescheduled for our new date. Emily has been there since before the pandemic helping us and guiding us through the details of our wedding. I met Emily when she coordinated a wedding at the venue I work at. After working on our client's wedding together, I knew I would hire her for my Big Day. I got married May 19, 2018 at Coyote Hills Golf Course. Emily was one of the first vendors I hired once we set our date. I hired Emily back in October, a few weeks after messaging with her on Thumbtack. I was extremely weary of hiring someone I hadn't met, especially since, for all I know she could just be scamming me! I even stalked her on LinkedIn to make sure she was legit!! But after meeting up in person and considering the services she offered, my now-husband and I decided to hire her. We emailed back and forth for the next nine months as I struggled through wedding planning. She gave me a few contacts for vendors I needed, and although I didn't use them in the end, it was good to consider my options and use their quotes to determine what services I can get, given the budget I have. Because I hired Emily as a day-of coordinator, I didn't really talk to her extensively until 1-2 months before. I really appreciate that we'd met up with my church and venue contacts to help me figure out what else I needed to have done before the wedding. Now, I'm the type of person who tends to take control, and it's a bit difficult for me to yield, even when I'm feeling overwhelmed. I'm super grateful that even though I had a couple of difficult wedding contacts to deal with, Emily didn't complain and still got the information she needed from them. I witnessed that firsthand in dealing with my venue contact. Also, the way weddings are handled at my Church seem a little restrictive, so I'm glad Emily made sure everything was communicated properly between the Church and my videographer about information in shooting the ceremony. On the day of the wedding, I still wanted to know the sequence of events as they were happening as my way of micromanaging, but overall I am soo glad that Emily and her assistant Kristen (sp?) actually managed everything. They even stopped by at the hotel to distribute flowers and give me and my husband some food. I really didn't have to do anything, and she and Kristen set up the reception venue very nicely, even though I didn't make a ton of decorations, and the whole evening went pretty smoothly. I had the worst headache ever, halfway through the reception, and I am so relieved that she gave me a bunch of Advil to relieve my head. Emily and Kristen stayed until the end of the wedding to make sure all the gifts and decorations were packed away and put into the right cars. Again, thank you so much, Emily and Kristen, for all the work that you did, because I probably would have been flipping out more on the day of my weddingm, without you two. You truly did a phenomenal job, following up quickly in my emails, communicating with my vendors (especially my difficult ones!), and managing the wedding day from start to finish, all with a smile on your face. I was tense during most of the process of wedding planning and on the actual day of, yet you handled everything so professionally and with such a positive attitude, that you did help me lighten up a bit. Other wedding planners/coordinators don't allow you to freely contact them anytime which I understand since everyone's time is important. But it gave me peace of mind knowing that I had Emily to contact if I needed during the wedding planning process. Also, what I really appreciated about Emily was that SHE REPLIES SUPER QUICK to all calls/emails/texts. Not all wedding vendors reply quickly; which can make wedding planning more stressful and also give you some worry about your wedding vendor. However, the more I worked with Emily; the less stressed I felt because I knew that Emily was on top of everything. Of all vendors, you WANT your wedding coordinator to be prompt at replying, trust me. Before I hired Emily, Emily had told me upfront that she was not going to be available to personally be at my wedding as she already made a commitment to another wedding. However, she could have her lead coordinator, Amanda, be my day of wedding coordinator. Like Emily, Amanda has an AWESOME PERSONALITY and was super easy to work with. Amanda is seriously an angel, she is sooooo sweet. Like Emily, Amanda was super prompt at replying to emails/texts/calls. Amanda and Emily always arrived early to all meetings. Amanda executed the rehearsal flawlessly. Moreover, Amanda was hands down the best wedding coordinator I could have asked for during my wedding. My wedding day was perfection. Amanda and her 2 assistants did a great job making sure everything flowed smoothly during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. I took large group photos with my whole extended family and my friends after the ceremony and Amanda handled it like a pro! Mind you, I have a LARGE asian family and Amanda was able to wrangle everyone together for our family pictures. Also, Amanda and her assistants did a great job monitoring our gift table and making sure all guests dropped off their cards in the card box so they can be put away securely before the reception since my husband and I were not going to be going around to each table to greet our guests as is common in a traditional asian wedding. This gave us more free time to enjoy our wedding. Amanda was definitely on top of the timeline, we were pretty much ahead of schedule or on time with everything the whole night. I had 3 different dresses and Amanda/team was there to get me and help me with each dress change. My feet were hurting as I did not break in my heels as much as I should have before the wedding, but no biggie, because I had a pair of back up wedges which Amanda/team were able to grab for me in my bridal suite and help me switch into discreetly during the reception at the sweetheart table. Throughout the night, I kept getting compliments from friends and family about how great Amanda/team were. Specifically my parents, my husband's parents, my bridal party all raved at how kind, professional, and hard working Amanda/team were. They seriously TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING. They set up all the important items including decor items. Amanda even gave my officiant our marriage license paperwork to fill out for us after the ceremony. At the end of the night, they cleaned up everything, boxed everything away neatly, and put it into the designated car. I was surprised at how meticulously everything was packed and put away. Amanda even packed my wedding bouquets and sweetheart table flowers for me to take home without me asking her to do so. She also packed and put away my dresses and shoes. Seriously, everything was taken care of. My parents stayed at the venue until the very end of the wedding to make sure everything was put away and in order; and my mom was so impressed with Amanda/team. My mom said she didn't have to do anything and that Amanda/team TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING. My wedding was NYE and it was quite a party to say the least. All my guests said they had a blast and that it was one of the most fun weddings they have attended. I definitely had a lot of fun. For some brides, their wedding day can be stressful but for me, my wedding day was pure joy and fun. Clean lines, a silver accent, candle light and near the ocean. With this theme in place, Emily sent me budget-conscious info and links to everything. Additionally, whenever I had a question, Emily swooped in! I remember dropping off a check to our venue and there was some confusion about whether or not reception chairs were included in the rental price. Of course I didn't think to ask this question immediately. Instead I sent Emily a panicked text at 3 am. Rather than let me stress about it, Emily took the reins and figured out that they were included, I was simply being offered an upgraded option. If I had to pick on Superhero moment that best portrays Emily's style, it would be this: Two weeks before the wedding, our DJ canceled. She did not contact me directly, but broke the news to Emily instead, which was probably for the best. A little later Emily called me and said, "Ok here is the situation and here are my three solutions."
