My husband and I hired Sheila in February 2013 to help plan our wedding in July 2014. Over the last 16 months, Sheila became more than our wedding planner; she became our friend. She's warm, funny, and easy to talk to, and unlike other planners that we had interviewed before, didn't try to nickel and dime us by setting limits for the number of vendor meetings or face-to-face meetings that we could have with her, or charging extra for "overtime" or pre- and post-wedding activities (e.g., rehearsal dinner, post-wedding brunch). I was very involved in planning the wedding because I had a very specific vision in mind, and Sheila was the best partner that I could have asked for throughout the process - she always took my calls, met with me whenever I wanted, came with us to meet/interview vendors, recommended and negotiated with vendors (the woman knows how to bargain!), helped me to stay on track, handled difficult situations/people like a pro, and basically did everything she could to help me achieve the wedding of my dreams. She even came with me to every single dress fitting that I had (and I had many!). On the big day, she and her team of assistants (Evelyn, et al.) were absolutely AMAZING! We had two ceremonies at two separate locations, and they worked together seamlessly to make sure that everything ran smoothly. It was a loooonggg day, and they were there for me from start to finish. We had a very elaborate design for the second ceremony and reception venue, and they worked with all of our vendors to get everything set up perfectly and in time. While all of our vendors were fantastic, the Event Solutions team was the glue that held everything together. :) Now that the wedding is over, I'm sad that I won't have an excuse to meet up with Sheila and Evelyn anymore, but I'm looking forward to hanging out with them as friends! Our daughter was married last week and everything went extremely well thanks to Sheila, who managed to take care of every detail. It became obvious when we hired her over a year before the wedding that we had made the right decision when she helped us to pick out the perfect venue, and negotiated a very reasonable pricing package, including discounted block rooms for our guests who traveled from out of town to attend. She counseled us all along the way, and was there for every big decision we had to make. They had never seen something so beautiful between the hundreds of votive and pillar candles, the stunning tall table arrangements filled with roses and dahlias, the jazz trio and the 5 tier cake. She dealt with family members and a multitude of requests from them, she had late night and early morning calls to work around my crazy schedule, she drove into the city to meet me for dress fittings at any hour of the day, she completely stunned me with the incredible floral arrangements, she coordinated two shuttles and a cable car on the day of the wedding (and made sure they were filled with food and alcohol) and truly pulled off the most incredible event I've ever been to. Sheila was definitely a life saver, both before and during the wedding. We started out by trying to plan our wedding but really, if you aren't the type of people who have been dreaming about it, you really don't have any idea where to start. You easily get overwhelmed with number of options and choices and don't really know where to start. For us, we decided that we wanted to definitely hire a wedding planner because I have had friends who did not have one and I saw how much stress that the bride was going through on what is supposed to be her special day. It worked out even better than I imagined when we hired Sheila. Basically, we decided to read a few reviews and then meet them in person to get a feel for their personality and our chemistry. From the first minute that we met her, we could tell that she was full of energy and had plenty of ideas. She has done plenty of weddings before and was able to patiently answer our questions. She helped us set up appointments with potential vendors and went with us to most of those appointments. We were able to lean on her experience in dealing with wedding vendors to help us decide. Also, don't worry about Sheila trying to push her to her favorite vendors, nearly of our vendors originated as our choice but by the end of our wedding, it felt like she knew them better than we did. We did get one recommendation on the DJ and he worked out better than we thought. One bonus also for grooms, Sheila quickly became very good friends with my bride, so she provided a secondary outlet for her. This was extra nice in the sense where I knew that my fiancee would also have someone to speak with for wedding related items. I will say that it certainly made my life easier! After all, for most guys, what do we really know about things such as shoes or color schemes or flower types? Sheila really helped my fiancee simplify things for me by coming up with a few ideas and asking my opinion. Otherwise, the conversation would have been along the lines of "What kind of flowers do you like?" "Er, I dunno..." "You never help with anything!!" (Storms out) Ok that's an exaggeration but guys, you know what I'm talking about! As for the wedding day itself, Sheila was a whirlwind of activity. From coordinating with all of our vendors, to making sure everyone was where they needed to be, to helping the helpless groom and his groomsmen with their boutonnieres, she made life so much easier. I'll guarantee that my wife would have had some kind of a nervous breakdown if it wasn't for Sheila. But basically, we just had to show up, get ready, and she told us where we needed to be. One thing I remember from the end of the wedding night was the sight of Sheila, sitting in a chair, looking exhausted because she was basically everywhere that day/evening. I cannot recommend her more highly. For future grooms - hire her.. Right away... It'll be the best first decision you ever made in your new life with your future ball and chain.. I waited for a while to post a response because we were busy and because I wanted to wait until I was no longer so stressed from the wedding. I honestly hope that anyone else hiring Sheila has a different experience from us, but our experience with Sheila was really bad. I spent the week before my wedding having to take care of things that I hired Sheila to do myself and crying because I was so stressed out. The day of the wedding, my mother and I also had to spend much of the time covering things that Sheila had not taken care of. The wedding party kept joking throughout the wedding about how bad of a wedding planner Sheila was. The only thing that I can say that is good about her is that she showed up on the day of the wedding and that she offered to and took care of tying the ribbons on the chairs. I tried writing a review which included all of or a summary of all of the things that Sheila failed to do as a wedding planner, but it was always too long. The truth is that there were so many things that it would probably take up several pages which is not allowed on yelp and which is probably too long for anyone to read. And in any event, I'm not sure how useful it is for me to rehash them as I think everyone can see for themselves whether she will be a good fit. But FYI, my parents gave her a tip at the wedding only because there were still things pending after she left such as the pictures, videos, etc... for the wedding and they were concerned that she would sabotage them if they did not tip her. They thought that tipping was expected (like tipping a waiter at a restaurant) and tipped her so as to avoid any issues soon after the wedding. However, to this day, the thing that we all agree on is that we regret hiring Sheila. In any event, I didn't write this to indicate that Sheila won't be a good wedding planner for someone else, but I can just say that she was definitely not a good wedding planner for us. I saw some people write reviews saying that they liked Sheila because she was like their friend, and if what you need is only a friend, this may work out for you. I do think though that her response to our previous review shows a lack of interest in her client and a failure to take responsibility, and it makes me even more sure that she was definitely, for us the worst vendor that we had at our wedding. read more

She is personable, experienced, will get you great deals and discounts and truly cares about her clients. It has been a few months since I got married. My fiance and I had been engaged for a while, but never really thought much about "the wedding". One day we decided to just go for it, and we wanted to get it done as soon as possible. We decided to plan our wedding in 2 months. This way we wouldn't feel bad if our friends couldn't go since they might have made other plans on our wedding day. We wanted our guest list to be short.. it didn't work. :) So, our first thought was to hire a planner. We found Sheila on yelp and we are very grateful to my fellow yelpers that we found her. She's great! We interviewed a few planners and when we met Sheila we liked her a lot. She's personable and professional. Her rates are reasonable. We felt very comfortable and she seemed that she loves what she does. The other planners seemed a little tired. I mean I am tired just thinking about what we had to do to get the list of people to invite and their addresses. I can't imagine doing this all the time. Sheila became my fiance's (now my wife) bff. I am not kidding. She spoke to Sheila more than she spoke to her maid of honor. She is readily available and goes out of her way to make sure that everything gets done. Sheila throws a great party! I am very glad we hired her as our wedding planner. For one thing, Sheila has a great sense of what guests will enjoy. For example, she suggested that we hire a photo studio for guests to take pictures of themselves with funny backgrounds and costumes, and also get a taco truck for the hotel parking lot after the reception. Our guests raved about both. Sheila also did an amazing job decorating. We chose a lovely outdoor venue with a reception hall that, undecorated, looks a little plain. Sheila's decorations made the indoor spaces look as beautiful as the outdoor gardens surrounding them. Part of the decorating, of course, was the work of our florist, but Sheila deserves some credit for that too! When we decided to have a small wedding on the Each Beach of Crissy Field in San Francisco in two weeks, nobody believed that we could make it. Sheila and her team were the only wedding planning company that was willing to do it for us, and she promised to make a successful one. She did kept her promise, and better! In merely two weeks, she managed everything, including the ceremony, location reservation, reception, officiant, all the props and more. During the ceremony, I felt so safe when she was around, because I knew I can trust her to handle any unexpected situation. I decided to hire Sheila as my wedding planner when I saw the Rengstorff House wedding on her blog. It was exactly what I was looking for so I contacted her immediately. I'm a very aesthetic person and I really like her taste. We booked the partial planning service. She's easy to communicate, honest with her opinions and she never forced us to make any decisions. She tried her best to help us stay within the budget. :) She lent many things to us (LED candles, frames, gift box, etc.) so that we don't have to buy them. Sheila did an amazing job coordinating our wedding at the Brazilian Room. She did all the on-site coordination for the day. I simply emailed her the details and the vendor info and she took over from there. She followed up with every vendor the day before (I had done this several days before, but some vendors were still confused...good thing she followed up!). She even drove half the bridal party to the site. I didn't lift a finger or talk to anyone. I just showed up and after I was done getting my photos taken, the reception and ceremony was all set up and the wedding party was lined up and ready to go. This was a Hindu ceremony (which are notorious for being extremely late and chaotic). I'm happy that mine started on time and was only 45 minutes (a world's record for Hindu ceremony). Given that this was a simple event, she went out of her way to help us find a deal for the wedding rings, helped us with registration with City Hall, and ordered us a beautiful bouquet. Currently she is helping us plan our main Chinese Style banquet. Sheila is helping us find restaurants and giving us very valuable advise on music, decor, flowers, etc... Most importantly, with her overseeing the search for a photographer, cake shop, car service, and make up artist, I, as a guy, can spend my free time doing more important things...like watching TV!!! This review is long overdue! Sheila is amazing. She helped my husband and I in so many ways in planning our wedding. We met with her and immediately knew that she "got" us. She really listened to us and I could tell she understood the style we were going for and the type of wedding we wanted, which was personal, intimate and as handmade as possible. We hired Sheila Dizon for my daughter's wedding this past August, and could not imagine having a more organized, talented, creative, generous and fun party planner for our wedding. My daughter was a full time student, and I worked full time, so we quickly knew we needed help planning this summer wedding that needed to happen within five months! Somehow, without being pushy, Sheila kept us on track and we never felt 'crazy.' I think this is especially amazing, given that we honestly had no idea what we wanted at the beginning! My daughter was not one of those young women who had been thinking all of her life about what she wanted her wedding day to be, but Sheila quickly helped her to develop a vision, and she made it happen! No one could have prepared me for all the details that come up near the end, and Sheila kept on top of them and attended to them perfectly.
