We were foolish and we didn't know what an outrageous task planning a wedding is. We wanted things a little different than a traditional wedding, and Erica executed so seamlessly that we sometimes forget that the bride and groom walking down the aisle together was anything other than the way it's always been done. Everything felt really natural and nothing was "put on". We had to think about nothing during that day. About an hour before the wedding, I had a friend drop cookies off and cookie sleeves (they were the guest favors and had not yet been assembled. I forgot to "assign" that to someone). A few hours later - right in the middle of cocktail hour - I turned to Erica and quietly gasped, "THE COOKIES." She just smiled and let me know that her and her assistant, Esmeralda, found the cookies, sleeved the cookies, and displayed the cookies. God, she's so good. There were more instances than I care to relay on this platform, but just trust, she does what needs doing and requires no oversight. Guests were even commenting on how well coordinated everything was, and a few people asked for her card. The final touches were not to be believed. Beautiful card on our hotel suite nightstand along with a gift, the room that the bridal party got ready in, including groom and best man, (which looked like a bridal bomb had exploded - flower stems, crumpled notes to each other, makeup everywhere, pajamas and shoes, a left-on curling iron) had been organized, rented chargers had been rinsed and placed in our room, even the last 4 sad remaining flip flops from a basket of 50 had been returned to our room. Just in case. Erica snapped a few candid photos of my MOH doing my makeup and my grandmother and I dancing to the last song of the night. Totally unprompted, and totally appreciated. In the middle of the evening I realized that I had left two cases of beer in the trunk of my car back at the hotel. I had spent weeks hunting this down and Stacy knew it meant a lot to me so she had one of her assistants drive back to the hotel, talk the front desk into getting access to my car so she could bring the beer back to the wedding. Pure awesomeness. We also had an unexpected medical emergency in the middle of the reception and Stacy handled it like the pro she is. The person actually ended up going to the hospital with some family and Stacy arranged for food to be sent over. Mandy handled this with ease. * We wanted to work a little bit of both my cultural and family background (Chinese) and my husband's (Indian and Greek) into the wedding, and Mandy helped us to find creative ways to do so and find vendors who could fulfill these ideas and creative ways. We were especially pleased with our food vendor who Mandy recommended. * I like that she will tell you what she thinks, but also give you space to make decisions. She is open to many ideas and aesthetics, and really helps you to reach the decision that will make not just a beautiful wedding, but *your* beautiful wedding. * Mandy keeps your budget in mind - we came in $3k under our overall budget exactly, and she will let you know. Generally she gives options in a 'low', 'medium', and 'high' range so you get an actual range of choice. * Her network is extensive. It's quite nice because it means that anything you are considering she already has lots of experience working with the possible vendors, and you can piggy back off her good relations. * She plans work in stages and never lets it get overwhelming. This means you get to trust that she's handling the details (and there are details you would never think about on your own, like the catering flow through the venue) and just work on the homework she's assigned. * She is flexible and rolls with the new ideas/changes in plan, bringing enthusiasm and professionalism to these changes in plan. Weddings are a sensitive business. There's so many dreams, aspirations, family obligations, financial constraints tied together. Working with Mandy made handling that so, so much easier. Mandy did an excellent job of connecting me to vendors that made my wedding gorgeous. It was aesthetically quite beautiful. But the Day Of coordination was bad. It was somehow my job (?) to keep bridal prep running on schedule. This took me out of the moment. But worse, when the bridal party got behind, she was an absolute tyrant. She was rude to me, my friends and my family. You never yell at a bride on her wedding day! Not to mention-- I didn't hire Day Of coordination to be burdened with duties and chores. On top of that, she didn't allow me time to touch up makeup between photos so I hate my weddding pics. Then, there was "no time" to bundle my dress so there are some stains I can't get out. She was unbelievably unprofessional and shockingly disrespectful. Overall, everyone had a nice time except the people who had to deal with her directly. Including me. I've been hoping to get over it but yes, it's still a year later and she made me feel horrible on my wedding day, like somehow I was unworthy of MY own day.
