My homie…read morewhose birthday it was turned 43, the group after us was 6 kids who looked like they were 12 years old. Good for people of all ages, I tell ya! We did the zombie killing one and it was SO fun. 30 minutes flew by and I could've played for another 2 hours. The entrance is a little alcove, follow the signs up the stairs. Definitely make sure you book your session ahead of time. Once everyone arrives, you must sign the waiver (which you can also do ahead of time). Then they take you to your room you'll be in. The lovely workers strap on your wrist and ankle sensors, they then take you into the room you'll be in, the workers come in again and put the vr goggles on your head for you, then they hand you your weapons. The zombie one was pretty realistic, prob not for minors, but great fun for adults! I def will be back to play the Squid Game one. Great idea for birthday parties or get togethers. The workers do a good job of disinfecting everything you use as well. We parked in the lot across the street, street parking is pay to park and seems pretty tough to find a spot.

This exceeded my expectations. I'm an experienced VR gamer so I was concerned that it would seem…read morelike something I could just download and do at home. But this is a bit more ambitious than that. The "play" area is very large, way larger than any of us normally has access to for any kind of indoor recreation. Once you've been waiver'd and orientated, you will wear a VR headset similar to the kind you might have at home. No hand controllers though. You will be immersed in a situation and directed to walk around, with some degree of freedom to inspect your virtual surroundings more closely. A story of some sort plays out, which you simply observe without any interaction, but you are fully immersed; it's like you're there. We had booked the Egyptian pyramids experience ("Horizon of Khufu"), and we enjoyed it enough that we reupped for the second experience they had at the time with the dinosaurs ("Life Chronicles"). Again, as someone experienced with VR gaming, the quality of the graphics was not particularly impressive but it got the job done. And I can tell that some impressive under-the-hood logistics worked well to allow dozens of concurrent people to use the same space. You see "ghosts" of others that are nearby to help you avoid bumping into them. I was impressed that it knew one of the ghosts was in a wheelchair; it seems like very thoughtfully-designed tech. If immersive educational exhibits interest you, you will probably quite like this. If you are turned off by VR, you might be pleasantly surprised. The discomfort that is sometimes experienced with at-home setups is greatly offset by the fact that you physically walk around in a large space.

When they say they open at 1:00, they open at 1:00 sharp. We arrived a little early and found the doors locked. We went to another business across the parking lot to kill 1/2 hour before we could get in. The first thing you do when you walk in is watch a brief video explaining what you will experience and how to use the VR headsets. Then, you must sign a waiver of liability before you are allowed to continue. Essentially, you waive any liability of injuries caused by falling, vertigo, epileptic seizures due to strobes, etc. I actually read the waiver before signing. It seems pretty iron clad. When you start, you meet your virtual tour guide. They walk you through the exhibit, which is really one big empty room. My one issue is there are multiple groups that go through at the same time. There isn't any way to keep from running into other groups and we almost collided with other groups several times. The program is well done. We had a walking tour of the exterior of the pyramid and surrounding places, as well as the interior of the pyramid. The resolution of the VR was excellent. I wouldn't say I felt like I was actually inside a pyramid, but it was well done. Pay attention to the warnings you receive. I felt dizzy a few times and almost fell once. I found myself shuffling my feet to avoid stepping on VR obstacles (yes - silly, I know). But take seriously that you need to pay attention. They have ways for you to let them know if you need help, which is good. Fortunately, I didn't need any help. So, in all, it was a good experience. They have other exhibits, too. But given the dizziness, I'm not sure I would go again. But some of the exhibits look interesting so I may give it another go.

We were running a little late and my daughter called regarding our appointment time. The representative was nice enough to change our appointment to a later time slot. This was the first for us but my family had an awesome time. My husband said it was a workout and they were all sweating when they finished. The video footage of their experience was priceless. Everyone was helpful and nice. We will definitely be back.

Disappointing Experience for My Son's 8th Birthday…read more I was so excited to book Sandbox VR in Oakbrook, Illinois, for my son's 8th birthday, but unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing and not worth the $200 I paid. We arrived on October 12th and had a difficult time locating the venue because there was no clear signage indicating where Sandbox VR was located. I called three times and received no answer. Thankfully, I was eventually able to locate the email and speak with someone at a different store who directed us to the correct location. When my husband, my two sons, and I arrived, we were greeted by a staff member who told us we were late, even though we were still within the five-minute grace period. Instead of assisting us, she made us wait while she helped two other parties first. When she finally assisted us, her attitude was rude, and she provided little to no instruction on how to put on the VR equipment. She simply told us to put everything on and make sure the hands and feet were correct before walking away. About 10 minutes later, she returned and told us the equipment was on incorrectly, so we had to adjust everything. She left again, and another 10 minutes passed before she finally brought us into the game room. We were instructed to raise our hands and say "assistance" if we needed help. However, while playing, I fell hard, and my toy gun came apart. I raised my hand and called for assistance, but no one came to help me. I had to remove my goggles, check myself, put the gun back together, and continue playing without assistance. To make matters worse, the room was hot, and there were no fans running. My children were sweating and uncomfortable throughout the entire game. I understand that things may not always go perfectly, but for a birthday experience costing $200, I expected better customer service, proper equipment instructions, a comfortable environment, and staff who respond when a guest needs assistance. This was supposed to be a fun and memorable celebration for my son, and I left feeling disappointed with how the entire experience was handled. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet my expectations, and I do not feel the service we received was worth the price. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issues with staff training, customer service, venue signage, and guest safety. Families deserve a much better experience, especially when celebrating a child's birthday.
