Walking in, multiple people greet you at the bar (drinks are donation-based and not fancy, per se, but you can get Kirkland brand wine or a local beer, so that's fine!). My ticket's barcode refused to print, but they found my ticket quickly. The stage itself is completely overlapping with the seating. In other words, you sit onstage: it's all one level. The seats, at least when I went, are all one row deep. It is great for short people like me, because we don't have to look over people in front of us. It is also great for tall people, who don't have blocked legroom of any sort (unless you have to pull in some long limbs if the actors are close enough to you where they might trip!). There are two large, ADA-compliant bathrooms, including one within the stage/seating area! Despite being a tiny theatre without a ton of publicity, you can still see brand new plays and similar works, as well as well established plays that have been performed worldwide. There is a personal, inclusive touch here, which is great to see. It was nice that the artistic director welcomed us all before the show started and gave us information about other upcoming productions!

Anyone who knows me know that I love live musical theater. I love the live music, singing, and…read moreacting. While growing up in New York City, a part of me wishes that I could perform. With that said, Joseph got tickets for us to see "Tik, Tik... Boom" for Valentine's Day. This show has so much meaning for me. Just like in his other play, "Rent", the late Jonathan Larson set "Tik, Tik... Boom" in New York City. With all the previous performances behind them, this gives the ensemble a chance to sing their hearts out and make the last show very memorable. The ensemble and the band blend together very well. Just an amazing show. The director of "Tik, Tik...Boom" mentions that the Edge Theater supports trans theater. Shows such as this help support the trans community. The theater looks smaller than the other theaters around the Chicago. Even though the seats feel comfortable, they remind me of the AMC theater seats. Located near the 36 bus route and Bryn Mawr Red line, the Edge Theater brings art and culture to the area. An added bonus comes from it being walkable to Andersonville.

Maybe I didn't want to share this underrated theater. It's not like I don't want them to do well because they do, it's always a full house. Maybe it's just because the performers are all top notch and that there are very limited amount of seats, I just don't want to give up mine to you. I guess I'm a little selfish. Oh well, I can live with that. As long as I get to keep seeing wonderful plays here!! FYI -The map attached is incorrect so beware. It's located on the 2nd Floor of Edgewater Presbyterian Church. Seating is a little tight but still comfortable. Most recent play- "The Wind in the Willows" (as a musical... I know?! But it worked!!) A rat with a gun. A toad driving a car. It's got action, comedy, and drama, what else do you want?! Fantastic set design and performance!! This next generation (late 20's max in age, maybe) of performers have real talent. I see a LOT of plays and they impressed me. If you're a fan of the books or not "The Wind in the Willows" is time well spent and this musical did great justice to the famous author.

When you walk in there is a bar and some tables but through the double doors, you'll find a 2nd bar with a speakeasy feel. When we checked in, we were assigned our tables. We ordered drinks before hand and the drinks were brought to our tables. We also ordered the pimento cheese and crackers. We snacked on the crackers most of the show as there was quite a bit of pimento in the bowl. The show was great and was broken into 2 parts. There were a lot of great metaphors along with it being a very interactive show with the crowd. Many of the tricks and magic left us in complete awe. We can't wait to come back and see future shows!

Each play was thoughtfully written, presented and well-acted. Jackalope Theatre is located in a wonderful space on the second floor of the Broadway Armory Park building. They like to have their own dance classes at home where they put on their shoes and practice what they learned in class with each other. My older daughter is now a company dancer and is there twice a week. The teachers are wonderful with the little kids and keeping their attention, which I just got to see first hand during parent observation week. I also like that Gus gives back to the community and puts on so many free performances for families and other members of the community throughout the year. They are family owned which you can truly feel in all aspects of their interactions and communication with the children and parents. Highly recommend!

Before you have time to understand what just happened, the music clicks back on. Someone yells "let's do a line dance!" No one misses a beat. Everyone starts dancing. You are bewildered and vaguely upset. You consider joining the dance, but you can't because the music clicks off again. A guy grabs a mic talks about how his uncle assaulted him when he was 14. You begin to think that maybe this party isn't intended to be fun. But then, suddenly, the party music clicks back on and someone shouts "let's play musical chairs!" It goes on like this. If you ever begin to enjoy yourself, you know that at any second a partygoer will cut the electricity and monologue about gun violence or Palestine or climate change. You try to wrap your head around it. Maybe it's supposed to be a critique of parties in general? Before you can figure it out, the party is over. Everyone says they loved it. Anyway, that's what the Infinite Wrench feels like. $25 bucks. 5 stars I guess I don't know anymore.

It's also very easy to connect with the actors because there isn't a bad seat in the house! It's a very small theater, and it's hard to find on the street, but look for the big "R" in their window. There is also street parking, so get there early to find your spot. I saw the play "I Call My Brothers" and it was fantastic. The actors and the plot had me immersed during the entire show. It was only about 1.5 hours long, and I was left invigorated. The stage isn't very large, and it's a minimalist style play (in regards to props), but if there were more props in the play, it would ruin it. The actors were fantastic and the play was amazing. This is a great spot to have a show. I do like this and am going to look forward to other plays at this theater.

The play's author was able to blend children's science fiction with Rocky Horror. If you are looking for a musical, it's not. If you are looking for pure science fiction, it's not. If you are looking for a play where one person in the audience is laughing hysterically and everyone else is wondering what in god's name this person finds so funny, I must admit I didn't laugh when it was time for the comedy. This play was not for my age group. To the annoying woman behind me, never tap or touch someone if you want their attention. A great alternative would be to say, "Excuse me." But then you were laughing at the play.
