We absolutely love Ries Elementary School! Mr. Q, Miss Perez, and all of the staff are amazing…read more They truly care about the students and always go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, supported, and encouraged. As a Vegas native who also went to Clark County School District schools growing up, despite what everyone says about the ratings, I am proud to let my kids be part of CCSD. There are so many incredible teachers, staff members, and schools that truly care about the children and families they serve. One of our favorite parts every year is their annual multicultural event. It is always so well organized, fun, and meaningful. We love seeing all of the different cultures, performances, food, and activities that bring the families and community together. It is such a beautiful way to celebrate diversity and make every child feel included and proud of who they are. Thank you to all of the teachers and staff for everything you do for the students and families. We are so grateful to be part of such an amazing school community!

I Went to one of the CCSD Dream meetings and spoke to Joan who pawned me off one someone else and that person said they would take care of the situation and make sure students are only having 20 minutes a day. 20 minutes of iPad is too much for a kid. Hell anytime on iPad is. That's why Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg kept their kids away from an iPad and phone - they destroy minds! That school also only gives 15 minutes of recess!

2nd year here and the system they have makes. No sense. From how kids are being taught to the lunch…read moreit's just not very organized. As a matter of fact, if you didn't start with them from kindergarten they don't really explain to you the process. They focus on bare minimum. I remember my first year. I was so lost. I had to try and figure out what was what and how I get newsletters because I just never knew what was going on. Just so you know they do send email with the news in case you're new here. They are helpful updates IF THEY MENTION THEM TO YOU! If your child is advanced I would say don't take them here! They put kids that are advanced and kids who are behind the grade levels and think about how hard it is FOR EVERYONE! The kids who are at grade level and above have to slow down for the kids who are behind. The kids who aren't at grade level need extra attention and become disruptive as the kids who are at grade level and above are disruptive too. Can you blame them they are bored!!!!! How stressful do you think that could be for the teachers. I PERSONALLY seen how kids act. I signed a paper my child can walk home and the teacher also approved had no issues with this last year. However this year 2nd day and teachers were saying you can't leave where are your parents! Excuse me anyone can really pick up you don't have a list showing who is approved. 116 outside and they have my child walking back and forth. I honestly don't care what they teach my child as I teach them more at home because the homework was useless and way too easy! I talked to a few parents and they tell me how much they hate it here but unfortunately we are zoned here! Do better for our kids they are the future!

Pretty disappointed in the school. My foster son had severe issues after going through the trauma…read moreof being removed from his home. He had no education and was in first grade. He had absolute behaviors, which made it pretty hard for his teacher. Everyone was in agreement that the child needed extra support. As we went through the school year, this child did nothing. He would not complete tests, participate or do homework and received an F in every grade. And the behaviors were uncontrollable. I kept asking the school, the principal, the teacher, anybody who would listen to please hold him back. Sending a child that didn't even have the basic kindergarten education to second grade would be detrimental. But they didn't want to listen. We moved, and he is now attending a new school. The principal of the new school was shocked that Schoor elementary did not hold him back. They said that the school did him a huge disservice. We will be holding him back this year so he can catch up. In just 6 1/2 months this child is a completely different child with the support of his new school. His behaviors are nonexistent now, the only thing lacking now is still the education. I wish I would have stuck my grounds and continued to push for them to hold him back. Like I said, everyone involved was very nice, but I just don't think they were capable of making the correct decision for this child.

My kids have had teachers I've really liked and others I'm just meh about, but my biggest issue…read morewith Jan Jones is the lack of organization during school pickup. The behavior of these parents is just appalling! The entitlement of many just baffles my mind and clearly demonstrates why we have issues with our children's behavior. Here are just a few of the behaviors I o serve daily picking up: Double parking in the main streets blocking people in and creating flow through issues on the main road beside the school Parking in the pickup circle and leaving their vehicle totally stopping the flow of cars to pick up their kids Blocking home driveways and leaving their vehicles Parking in other home's driveways and leaving their cars and then causing a scene when said homeowner tells them to move their car and not park in their driveway Making a scene on the two times I've seen a school officer this school year Parking and totally blocking the pickup line so others can't get through The one time I saw a school employee come and address a man for parking in the pickup circle and leaving his car, he went off on a tirade and I have never seen the employee leave the fenced in area again Parents reading this, if this is you doing these things, you are part of the problem and your time is no more important anyone else's. So how about having some manners and showing a little civility?
