Not a good place to do your observation hours. Also I was told by the AP that I could work next year but then she backed down on her word. Also, the teacher whom I did my OH, he did do my form and gave me a passing score. However, he complained that he got too many notifications and keep in mind I am learning new technology. I would stay away from this school they are not trustworthy people. read more

What really makes this school is the teachers, and teachers only. The administrative staff is not helpful at all. Let's start with if you have a special needs/IEP student, then don't come here. They don't listen to your concerns, they talk down to you, they may say "they suspect things" but it's code for "your child is not special needs enough for services". It's pretty bad when the teachers even agree that services are needed, but the MDT team shuts them down. Then, they say your child has behavior issues, issue a 504 instead, then drag their feet to complete it. An IEP is binding, and a 504 plan isn't. This school is aware of that and takes full advantage of it. The nurse staff is just as bad. When they call you to tell you that your child is injured, they tell you what they think happened, not what actually happened. My child had a bloody nose, cuts on his lips, and a chopped bottom tooth. I asked the nurse what happened, they have no idea, nor do they know who actually saw what happened. Then I asked to speak with the principal, and get the vice principal, who again, cannot tell me anything other than "Let me look at the cameras and get back to you". She gets back to me and tells me "You're child kinda looks like he fell". Kinda? He KINDA fell? So you're telling me that you actually didn't see anything and your staff aren't watching the children like they should. It's disgusting. The ONLY REASON we stay at this school is because of the teachers. They are amazing. They communicate. We work between home and class for what is best for the child and student. Be weary. Make sure you make an educational decision. If it wasn't for amazing teachers, this school wouldn't be worth it at all. read more

As a mother of two that attend here at William wright I am proud to say that my children attend this school! Not only are the staff friendly organized and extremely educational. The school events are always keeping the kids filled with joy. Keep up the wonderful work. My son started his kindergarten and had to buy a house around the school for his first grade because he loves his school and I ve noticed that he was faster on learning now he is going to start second grade on the 14th of August we just can't wait to meet his teacher , love the area and the school teachers read more

This is my first year at this school. Teachers are great, office staff not so great. Those who are responsible for opening gates for parents are jerks. They only open the small gates and created chaos with those who are riding a bike, have strollers and difficult for the elderly to get through. The office admin are inconsiderate. I don't like their staff. 8 have called to complain about the gates and safety and nothing has been done. The worst parent drivers. I always have to carry a bat because parents run the stop signs and never stop for people crossing in a crosswalk. The staff has no compassion for families. read more

This school has a fantastic teaching staff. My daughter thoroughly enjoys going to school because of her teachers and I really appreciate the wonderful extras her class does. I am however really disappointed in a few things. First, I am a parent who WANTS to be involved in my child's education and I feel I was kept at a distance. Despite volunteering for everything I could in my child's class I was never called on. Second, the traffic situation at this school in the morning is awful... Completely AWFUL! Every morning hundreds of parents neglect to follow any traffic or safety laws in an attempt to rush their children into class on time. They also park the buses out front of the school in the same lanes as parental drop off cutting the lanes down to one crowded mess where parents are either blocked in by the bus or double parking to drop their kids off. It is a nightmare. Third, the dismissal at this school happens over a 5-8 minute time span. You are technically allotted 10 min. But everyone closes up shop early leaving parents scrambling to get kids. After all that there are only 2 very badly managed entrances and exits so you will end up battling an infuriating amount of traffic with the most inconsiderate drivers in the world. Let me sum up by making one thing clear, despite all the negatives above I do love the education my daughter is receiving at this school and because of that I will of course keep her here. There are however some serious issues NOT related to education that need to be addressed. read more

I knew transitioning into taking my son to kinder would be a difficult change for me, but the way Wright is set up made it terrible.... Most other kinders have parent volunteer initiated drop lanes where someone will walk your kiddo into the gate from the drop lane. Wright has no drop lane at all, with 3 other kids (a two year old and infant twins) it makes drop off and pick up terrible!! In addition, the buses unload right in the front where you can't park and watch your kid walk thru the gate, you can't see anything and the traffic is scary at best. I won't even go into how many parents I've seen get out of their cars and fight.... OMG.... That being said, my son loves the school and his teacher... If they can fix the logistics it would be much much better... In the meantime I'll pay for safe key to avoid the high traffic times... ((Shrug)). read more

Yes, the traffic is bad, but it is no different than any other school. Hands down, this is one of the best elementary schools in the district. My son is in third grade and my daughter in Kindergarten, and each year we have had fantastic teachers who put their heart and soul into what they do. This school continually exceeds the district standards and I feel like the parent/student communication is great! We have thought of moving but decided that the education my kids are getting here is worth staying put! read more

I am a parent of a 5th grader. We have attended Wright since moving to Las Vegas in 2009. I totally disagree with the review from the other parent. I have found the principal, administration and current parent group (TEAM Wright has taken the place of the former PTA) to all be welcoming and eager to work together for what is best for our kids. The administration & teachers have worked very hard to achieve and maintain our 5-Star rating. Way to go TEAM! read more
