Overall though, they seem pretty decent and want your child to succeed, even offering free after school tutoring. Some were very quick to respond to emails, some you would wait 1-2 days before hearing anything back. As far as homework load, that seemed fairly balanced. My child didn't have much trouble getting it done. My only suggestion would to be to switch up the semester Science projects. It was the exact same packet and project choices, for five years. They never did anything different and by grade 8, my child was mind numbingly bored with the same options. Next: bullying and drugs. Bullying is absolutely not tolerated here. Shout out to the Vice Principal, Mrs. Chipman, whom nips it in the bud with a quickness. They also have zero tolerance when it comes to drugs and are swift to react to any incidents. So high kudos for that. School events; a few are themed and very cute, others thrown together with very little thought (especially this last year). There would be only a couple days notice to the day before the event. It was strange. Graduation for 8th grades was not well executed either; no enforcement on the 4 tickets limit given so everyone that wanted to, attended (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, you name it). They ran out of seating quickly due to this. It was unfair to those that followed the guidelines and they never addressed it. For a school that is so stringent with kids regarding rules, that was a bit disappointing to see. Next up, the front office... if you're lucky enough to catch them on a good day, they can be very helpful but again, that is a mixed experience. Catch them on (regular) bad days and they are dismissive, short, and rude. As someone who has to make calls throughout the day at my job -and- taking in consideration that I'm sure they deal with a few unpleasant parents, I'm always polite, not once ever calling with an attitude. It doesn't seem to matter. And God help you if you get ahold of Alisha; the rudest, most foul tempered of the lot. How she still works there is absolutely beyond me. If I spoke to clients the way she does to parents, I'd be fired in an instant. It got to the point that if I heard her voice answer, I would just hang up and try again later. Last but not least, the emails. I get that they need to keep people informed but the frequency that they send them is just obscene. I'm not joking. It's -at least- three times a week and the timing is so random. Sometimes you'll get them at 2pm and sometimes you'll get them at 5pm, 7pm, and up to 9pm. Weekends aren't safe either. They really need to learn to reel that in with designated frequency, days, and times. It gets overwhelming quick and it's easy to miss updates. Overall, it's an okay school but needs some restructuring, especially the front office staff.

My child is somewhat awkward like most preteens and has been hurt by the very unkind words of peers. Always the teacher involves the vice principle who speaks to both students and follows up with me afterward. Administration leaves classroom issues to the teachers at Coral and if they do address a situation they do not attempt to notify the student victim or their parent to "protect the other family's privacy." The teachers that we had at both schools were GREAT (6th grade teachers at Coral and 7th grade teachers at Pinecrest.) No complaints there. Administration is more communicative and helpful at Pinecrest.

It was slightly frustrating, but once in, it's a wonderful place. Teachers are incredible and kind, communicative and supportive. I've decided that the idea of a successful education is all about the cooperation and coordination and commitment of parents and teachers. Communication is key and knowing the difference between academia and childcare is key. Doral is not the latter. It requires input and involvement. When this is done well, I feel like the kids win. Administration is bomb. Teachers are first-rate. The facilities are great, despite its smaller footprint. Love this school.

From our very first tour with Ms. Brenda, we knew this school checked all the boxes we were looking for. She was reading words at just 3 years old, and the nurturing, structured environment helped her grow in so many ways. Any concerns we had during preschool were addressed promptly, and we always felt confident she was in great hands. However, our experience changed significantly once she transitioned into kindergarten. While the curriculum remains strong and academically focused, the environment felt much more rigid and less joyful. It is very one size fits all. We absolutely value education, but we also want our child to enjoy being a kid--through fun, creativity, and play. Another challenge has been the limited communication. Most interaction is restricted to quick exchanges at drop-off or pick-up, and calls are typically returned when the staff is available. There's little feedback unless you personally call and ask, so it's hard to know how your child is progressing until report cards are sent out. At times, important day-to-day situations involving our daughter weren't communicated to us. Lastly, we didn't always feel the school environment, particularly the front office, was the most welcoming. On a few occasions, I had to initiate conversations after being overlooked which left us feeling more like a number than part of a school community. Overall, the preschool experience was outstanding and gave our daughter a strong academic and social foundation. We're incredibly thankful for that time. My child has never had issues prior to transferring to this school. My child was on A/B honor roll…read morebefore attending Tony Alamo. Sadly, my child's grades have declined. The school has a lot of bullying issues and doesn't have a proper way to resolve them. Their method is to give "lunch detention for a few days" including the child who gets bullied. "To be fair". What is that teaching our children? To me that is absolutely absurd! If my child feels the need to defend themselves, why should they be punished? My child received death threats from other students and has attempted to push off other students, and yet gets punishment. My child doesn't feel they are able to speak up, and feels discriminated. "Mommy, why am I the only one getting in trouble?". A child should not feel this way at a place of learning and what is deemed as "safe". I am not the only parent who feels this way as I have asked others about their impression of Tony Alamo. My child did not dislike attending school until we ended up with this one UNFORTUNATELY. I do not recommend this school AT ALL.
