Not sure why Evans has never made it to the top diners in NJ but it should be right up at the top! Everything is homemade and fresh. The staff is super friendly. The menu is aside from being extensive is very reasonable. A mix of delicious Greek food and regular diner fare everything is very tasty. There are only one negative thing I have to say, and it has nothing to do with the restaurant itself. The parking lot is very small and it is sometimes difficult to pull in and out of here off of Cliffwood Road. Other than that it's well worth it to come by. Maybe you'll run into Paris Hilton again. read more

I've ordered Evan's for pick up and delivery many times since moving down the street. This place has amazing Greek food, large portions, and great prices. My favorite thing to get is the grilled chicken gyro. Their fries are amazing, especially when you get a fresh batch. They've given me free rice pudding a couple times and my mom says its the best she's tried. A couple other great items we've tried are the BLT, french toast, bacon (ask for extra crispy), chicken rice soup, pita bread, grape leaves, spanokapita, and Greek salad. The only thing I've ever not loved was the burger which was surprising but they more than make up for it with all the other delicious food options. So happy I checked Yelp for delivery food in my area and found Evan's! I got 2 Greek salads (both came with the most delicious pea soup) and a few apps. All very good. I give 5 stars because it was delivered fast and fresh by Evan himself who seemed genuinely happy that I'd finally realized he was so close by. I also got an omelette this morning... Nice to know that New York is only 15 minutes away from me. I've lived in Marlboro Township for 10 years and still never found authentic Greek food. Especially, when it came to gyros (my favorite!). Evan's restaurant is a great diner! They offer breakfast all day, lunch and dinner. It's not the fanciest place but it is ran by a wonderful family that puts their heart into the food and service they provide. Evans restaurant is my favorite place to go for all matters Greek dining. My favorite dish is the chicken souvlaki, which always come perfectly moist, seasoned, and freshly made to order. I also absolutely love the homemade baklava, which is my favorite baklava in the whole world (been to Greece and Turkey many times). However, the cherry on top is the constantly jovial waitress/manager JoJo, who always makes my day a little better every time I eat here. Look forward to coming back MANY MANY times. :) read more

Small mom and pop restaurant and friendly atmosphere. I felt I was with family despite being italian and not greek. I had the gyro which was chocked full of the meat. Very tasty and tender but the only downside was it was lacking enough of the tzatziki sauce. To get more sauce, that is an extra charge. Surprisingly, not only do they have american standard fare, but also breakfast. My wife had french toast and bacon that looked great and plentiful, and she said it was excellent. The bacon was crispy...just the wave she likes it cooked. Prices are good. We are definitely going again to try some other greek dinner. I am still full the next as I write this review!!! read more

Evans Restaurant is a small place in a small strip of stores. Very basic, and with nice prints of Greek islands on the wall. Bathroom was clean and our server was super-nice. Evans EASILY had the best gyro that I've had in a long time, and their salads were good too. The only thing I didn't like was that there was a big stack of empty cardboard boxes, inside, right next to our table, and some said "Big-C onion rings" or "Big-C chicken tenders". Now, perhaps Big-C makes a good product ( we didn't eat those items), bit I wouldn't flaunt the package-goods source of those items, if I were the owner. Having said that, the gyros were The Bomb, and I can't wait to go back for more. Highly recommended. read more

Found this place right after Hurricane Sandy. Love going here for breakfast. I don't know what it is, but I'm addicted to their three egg special. It's cozy and clean inside, no frills. Seems like a family run business (I think I've figured out that there's a mother, father and daughter that I've seen). They're always very pleasant without being too in your face. Ordered the chicken kebabs which came with a decent amount of chicken over a lot of rice and a little side salad filled with a ton of feta cheese. Ate her for the first time yesterday with my family, and our reaction was, it was just okay. My son's burger was awesome, but that isn't really a difficult item to make well. My chicken gyro was ordinary, but the chicken was a bit on the dry side. I also felt like the tzatziki sauce was a bit bland; it was missing that nice, tangy dill flavor. My daughter's chicken rice soup was just okay, nothing special, and the same went for her order of Spanakopita. Ditto for my hubby's Greek salad and chicken kabobs with rice. Overall, nice, friendly service, but we agreed it was nothing amazing at all that we'd return for. read more

Not the best gyro! Would not be rushing back very soon. The meat was dry and hard as if the meat was pre sliced. They lack flavor.
