They sent my dog home on a Thursday with antibiotics for a failing liver. They said the antibiotics would maybe take up to a week to make her feel better, so we waited. They told me they would respond to my texts because they would be closed Fri-Sun. When I texted on Saturday to ask for help because my dog still wasn't eating, they didn't respond for 7.5 hours. And then they were rude in their responses. Sunday morning we took her to an emergency vet and the vet read the SAME exact blood test results that VCA ran and sat us down to tell us that our dog would have low quality of life moving forward and that every day would be a struggle. VCA should have said that and had a direct conversation with me. They could have spared me the two days of watching my dog suffer. When your dog is in their final days, you would hope that the people who are taking care of your dog are compassionate. I think it was 4pm on a Thursday and the vet just did not want to take the time to actually explain what was going on and guide us. Luckily the emergency vet in Syracuse took care of us and was great at her job.

All 4 of our dogs have been patients at Grandview Vet for about 3 years now since moving to the area. We've had a handful of health needs addressed (Spaying procedure, stress colitis, anxiety/behavioral, annual exams, sick visits, vaccinations, monthly medications) you name it, we've been seen for it, and all health needs have been quickly resolved. Took our Rhodesian Ridgeback there forever. The last two years we complained that he had lumps on…read morehis body asking what they were from. Then he developed a severe limp and they put him on gabapentin, again we called and repeatedly brought him in for exams and consistently called about him having a problem with the drug not helping him. At this point I insisted on xrays and ultrasound be done, they had us do bloodwork and told us if we paid an extra $89 for an official pancreatitis test that would be definitive diagnosis that would give us the result that we needed. They could not perform an ultrasound so we had to take him to the emergency vet on Bridge Street in a Syracuse. Come to find out our dog did not have pancreatitis as the vet said the blood test revealed but had full pledge lymphoma, (his neck and jaw presented with hard nodules by the ex vet) and we had to put him down. The emergency vet said the blood test that Stacks office gave us for pancreatitis was not a definitive test for that. So which is it? So disgusted with the lack of concern given toward our dog. It wasn't until i insisted on testing because I was concerned of cancer that a closer look was finally given by the Stack Vet. Extremely upset that we had to put our dog down. Think twice about going there. They gouge you for pricing and never addressed his health until i threatened legal action.

We had to change vets after a few years of repeat issues. - They don't seem to keep good records of the meds they give, always asking me if I'm still giving a medicine that we stopped years ago, I correct them every time. - We needed blood tests and they took the wrong amount so had to do it twice. - I made an appointment for a bump on my boxer's arm, it was covid times so I had to wait outside. They sent her back with a clean bill of health, I asked about it again and they asked "What bump?" (it was the size of an egg on her right front leg). -They charged me for a yearly checkup again 4 months later and when I called to ask, they told me it was required. - After a year of sluggish behavior and a couple visits, we eventually researched enough ourselves to suggest thyroid, they confirmed with a test and got him on meds - They won't give me enough meds to get me to my new vet's appointment date. So I had to write this review. I hope you have better luck, I'm sure most people are content with them.
