Yet another shocking experience from Evans Cycles. They've had my bike for five days and only go the repair it when I turn up to collect it. It was meant to be ready on Friday but I couldn't collect as I was off work. You think they'd have it ready three days later! Having been advised it would 'just take five minutes' I was still waiting ten minutes later. This is the second time in a row this branch have made me wait while they repair my bike, despite coming back for collection. Last time they rushed the repair and I had to bring it back two more times to be done again. What's the betting they rush this repair and I break down on the way home? Next time I'll be using The London Bicycle Company round the corner - they're a professional organisation. Further to my last review - to top it all off after they rushed my bike repair on the spot I pointed out to Evans Waterloo that this is when mistakes happen - queue - a problem with my gears on the way home; what a surprise! They had messed up the gears when replacing the back wheel inner tube and I was missing a gear. They made such a mess of re-repairing my bike last time I just got my husband to fix it this time. On my first interaction with Evans I really felt they couldn't organize a children's tea party let alone repair a bike. The only reason I returned this time was because I have an injured ankle and I couldn't walk far enough with a flat tire to get to the London Bicycle Company. This time Evans Waterloo really excelled themselves proving that they can't even repair a flat tire - nice work guys. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP - they're utter amateurs. read more

I think the reason this store is worth a mention over many of the other Evans Cycles stores is that it is set-up as Road specialist store. This means that most of their bike stock, clothing, and accessories are geared up towards road bikes. Out of interest there is a mountain bike specialist around the corner on Waterloo Road. As a road specialist the store and its staff are very much geared up for giving you the best advice and support for road bikes. Whenever I've been in here it has always been busy, but the staff are very helpful when you get to speak with them, and are never in a rush to get rid of you and serve the next person. They finish with you when you are good and ready. The store is well laid out and there is room for wheeling in your bike. read more

I don't know what I was thinking. Cycling through Waterloo this afternoon on my way home from meetings, musing on bicycle luggage and deciding I needed to replace my broken bike basket with something or other, I veered off on to The Cut and made a pitstop at Evans. I sauntered in, smiley from the sunshine, to be met with indifference from the staff, who didn't even look up as I entered, walked towards the counter then turned left to look at the small selection of panniers, handlebar bags and baskets on offer. I was astounded at the price - £50 for a wicker basket or £40 for metal, fixings included but not looking particularly sturdy (I wanted one with a metal plate underneath, ideally). The handlebar bags started at £45 - sheesh. Cold shouldered and with the potential to be robbed I decided to head home. It's an Evans shop, but good for all that. The best thing seems to be the staff, who all seem to know and love cycling and will try to help if you need to find something they don't know about. Big enough to carry most things you need, they have quite a few staff and tills which helps at busy times like lunchtime. It's also nice that it is all on one floor, which makes it easier to see everything. I'm not over fond of chains, but Evans seem to do a good job here. read more

This particular branch of Evans has a really good range of bikes and parts on offer. But what really makes it worth the visit is the really knowlegable staff. I've come here for repairs several times and they have taken the time to explain exaclty what they are doing and how much it would cost. This makes me feel confident that they aren't ripping me off as some cycle shops do! There is also a really good range of accessories available to buy - I got an excellent value set of panniers here and the staff fit them to my bike for me. If you are looking to buy a bike then it's worth visiting here as you can take the bikes for a test run and make sure you are making the right decision! read more

This Evans specializes in road bikes (the store on Waterloo Road, close by, deals with mountain bikes). It's big, with a great selection of bikes and kit, with staff who really know what they are talking about. It's hard to beat this place on quality of selection and the level of assistance you receive from staff, but Evans do charge for this. If you need something common, and don't need expert advice to help you, chances are you can get it cheaper elsewhere. Credit to Evans though, they pride themselves on the service they provide. Only natural it will cost. read more

I have bought quite a few bits and bobs from Evans Cycles over the years and always found them to be very efficient. They have bikes of all descriptions and cater for road, race as well as the mountain bikers out there. Very competitive prices and a very large range of products makes choosing easy and if you have any enquiries about products I have always found the staff very knowledgeable and eager to help. Excellent service from Evans Cycles (Wimbledon branch) today. I went in to buy a new cycle computer - nothing fancy, just a simple wireless model. Assistant Alex fitted and set it up for me, and also adjusted the brakes - no extra charge for the fitting etc despite my offering to pay. Thank you Alex. Thank you Evans. read more

A lifesave for me today. One of my brakes broke off halfway to work this morning, so had to cycle in with only one brake working. I walked in here and as they were fully booked for services, the lovely man behind the desk did a quick fix and screwed it back on free of charge. It was busy, they didn't have to help me, but they did. Thank you and top marks. read more

Check out the 'Ride to Work' Scheme that Evans Cycles operate. It's a complete no brainer - every one's a winner. You are effectively getting a bike at half price, you pay it off in interest free installments and you get fit in the process! OK so you shorten your life expectancy, but what the hell. I went there, because I had some problems with the chain. And also with the pedals. I think that if you need professional help, they are qualified experts and will charge you on affordable rates. If you want to replace some damaged or worn out parts of your bike, don't hesitate to go there. read more

They have all safety gear for there nice bikes! All of it are awesome and affordable. You can actually try their bikes if you wanted. They are easy to deal with and the staffs are willing to help you to find a good idea of what bikes you wanted to buy for. Nice shops ever! read more

I purchased a bike and paid in full. I specifically had the manager set the physical bike aside for me and he promised it would be on the delivery truck to transfer to the London store next business day. Instead, Evans Cycles decided to sell it to someone else. What is worse, they tried to offer me an inferior product for the same price or upsell me another 450 pounds. May have a large space for walking around but the service for ordering is dismal at times. They promise to phone back but so far have never done that. the recent order I made for a pollution mask was really bad, I ordered the mask and got the filters instead so still waiting for my mask. I have just phoned up Evans and have now been told they have no record of my purchase order, yet they gave me the filters for the mask I ordered, though it was a mask I ordered Shows straight out now what their awful service is like, I have waited over 2 weeks now to get this sorted out and still no nearer a solution, cancelled the order today and certainly will not order from them again read more

Firstly I had to make a warranty claim which they refused to admit anything was wrong 3 times before I finally escalated it to the store manager and he finally agreed there was a fault and all of my brakes had to be replaced. I then took it in for a service and they charged me £50 for doing absolutely nothing, when I complained they just said they checked and it had been done but from the state my bike was in they hadn't done anything. I would avoid Evans cycles completely and go to a more professional chain, there are plenty of others. read more

Great store, really patient staff - love the fact that even though most customers are timewasters (including me) the staff treat us with the dignity we don't deserve. Keep up the great work Evans...I think I'm finally about to buy a bike from you. read more

They get a lot of bashing at Evans Cycles but I think this branch is pretty good. Good selection of bikes to choose from and the man who I spoke to was very helpful. I ended up buying a bike from them and I've been very happy with it ever since. read more

Avoid like the plague!!!! Earlier this year I spent a considerable amount of money buying a specialized shiv bike. When I arrived in London (travelling 300km plus) I was supposed to get a bike fit and alteration. When I got there I found (1) they were too lazy to do anything more than a rudimentary bike fit (change saddle height etc whereas cutting off the aero bars were needed. I ended up paying for this back home), (2) no fuel cell as promised (they emailed and said they would send this on but two months later nothing). Hopeless service and criminal neglect of customers. To top it off when I got home I noticed tyres worn badly which leads me to think that it was a demo not new as advertised. I have complained to Evans cycle hq and to specialized customer services but nothing. Awful that specialized don't bother to follow up when customers get screwed over so. Seriously regretting purchase. Avoid Evans cycle the cut and Evans cycles generally.... AWFUL AWFUL read more

This has to be the shop with the worst customer service I have experienced in London. The staff often seem clueless, which is not great, and that is when I have managed to talk to one of them - which doesn't happen often. I have asked questions in the past and gotten a completely idiotic response (buy 2 get one free offer where the member of staff told me I had to buy three bike pumps and couldn't mix and match?!) and have had other members of staff - the manager I think - walk away from me mid conversation and disappear. Poor knowledge and even poorer customer service. This review isn't after one bad experience, but after so many I felt compelled to write something. read more
