I'm not the type to leave reviews often but I want to warn other trucking companies out there. This…read moreis one of those tow companies that takes advantage of truckers when they're most vulnerable. During this recent cold weather Iowa has been experiencing in the last couple days with temperatures being in the negative degrees, our truck went down on I35 in Iowa approx 20 miles from their shop. We agreed to allow them to tow the truck to their shop and allow the truck to warm up with their space heaters & blankets as they said they had. Being a smaller company, we watch every nickle and dime we can, so naturally we asked what would they charge us. They verbally gave us a great rate initially because they said how close we were to them. It was under $1k. We felt that was fair at the time. Fast forward to them getting our truck warmed up. They emailed us the bill and they ended up billing us for nearly 4k! And demanded we pay in order for truck to be released. It was a whole bait & switch. There was no additonal heads up about price increase or nothing! They were very rude and nasty when we tried to talk to them and work this out. I asked the guy on the phone if I could speak with the manager or owner and he said NO because the owner was out grabbing another truck. He said we would have to wait until the AM to speak with the owner. I asked would we be charged additional to do that and he said "Yes, $125 additional for storage." I told him you gotta be kidding me. An additional charge when I'm not allowed to speak to the owner right now to work out this outrageous bill. I'm all for paying for a service but I'm not for extortion. I look forward to the day where these predatory towing companies get what's coming to them. We learned after the fact that this tow company has a reputation for this kind of predatory fees and charges. Until something is done fellow truckers, beware of Tony's Tire/Towing Service in Williams, Iowa!

After waiting a couple of hours an employee showed up to help me. The worker ruined the special key used to remove the lug bolts on my bmw and he spent the next few hours trying to remove the wheel in order to fix my flat. After failing he told me someone in the morning could absolutely remove the lug without the key and fix my flat. So we got a room for the night and returned to Tony's the next morning. Another worker spent an hour or so trying to remove the tire but he failed also. Only other option was to take it somewhere else to get fixed all because Tony's had ruined the key needed to remove the special lug bolt. This of course caused all of my problems of not be able to get the tire fixed. Tony's charged me $1250 for working on my car. (they caused the whole problem and fixed nothing. Then I had to tow car 150 miles to Minneapolis at a cost of over $1000!! BMW in Minneapolis fixed the problem and charged me $219. Stopping a Tony's was the worst experience of my life and I can't believe they ruined my lug key and charged me $1200 for their efforts. They are the worst excuse for a business I have ever had dealings with. They screwed me big time and smiled while they were doing it. My advice is to stay away from Tony's at all cost!!!!!

Dave called the car rental company, who told us we had a full spare in the trunk, and that they'd send someone to change the tire. We checked the trunk and found a donut tire, not a full size spare. We didn't want to drive on the interstate with that tire, so we cancelled the service call from the rental company. Fortunately, someone recommended Marlie's. We called them forty minutes before they closed and they were so nice! They told us to come by so they could take a look at the tire They removed the screw, patched our tire, and only charged $30. Plus, we had a really nice conversation while we waited. As a bonus, they recommended dinner at Seneca Street Saloon. We ordered pizza, and it was delicious! Marlie's is the best!

I am appalled by the way this business treated my teenage daughter. She was traveling alone through…read moreIowa when her check engine light appeared. Seeking peace of mind, she pulled into Hanson & Sons. The "service" she received was a brief scanner hookup for code P1450. The "professional diagnostic" she was sent was a low-effort screenshot of a Google search. For this, they charged her $133.75. There were no prices listed, and no one had the decency to tell her there would be a triple-digit fee for a service that most reputable shops (and every major auto parts chain) provide for free. In fact, the owner apologized that my daughter did not ask the appropriate questions. When confronted with how unreasonable this price was for a simple code retrieval, the owner was unprofessional and refused to find any common ground. It is clear this business prioritizes a quick buck over ethics. If you're looking for a shop that actually treats people with respect (and not a heap-ton of passive aggressive attitude) and fair pricing, keep driving. This isn't it. EDIT: I sent a direct message to the owner correcting her response (it wasn't a credit card, and I was never given a counter offer to my $25 offer), and also informed the business that I had found an automotive business in Clarion who would pull a code for less (the owner said he would price match to 30 miles), they declined to price match. The business owner then proceeded to say that the reason why the business isn't equivalent and worthy of being price matched is because "Arnold's employees are not professional service providers. They are salesmen." What's even worse is the condescending attitude and passive aggressiveness found in every conversation. This is not a business a person should trust their vehicle with.

The service she received was unprofessional, misleading, and unacceptable. My sister was charged $133 for services that were not clearly explained or justified. At no point was there transparent communication about the cost or necessity of the charge, which strongly suggests she was taken advantage of. When she attempted to ask questions and understand what she was paying for, the staff responded with a dismissive and rude attitude rather than providing clarification. In addition to the questionable charge, the overall customer service was extremely poor. The staff displayed a lack of professionalism, patience, and respect. No customer should be made to feel uncomfortable or brushed off when asking reasonable questions about their vehicle or their bill. This experience reflects badly on Hanson and Sons Auto and raises serious concerns about their business practices, particularly toward customers who may be more vulnerable to being overcharged. I believe this matter deserves attention, accountability, and a proper explanation of the $133 charge.
