The staff at Hogeland Auto Plaza provided prompt, exceptional service when my college son needed a tow eighteen miles east of Marshalltown on Hwy 30. Beth was very courteous and went out of her way to help us secure urgently needed tire service since it was near the end of the business day. The tow truck driver was extremely kind and professional, ensuring that my son was taken care of to complete his journey that evening to Wisconsin. Hogeland Auto Plaza represents the best of the heart of America in caring for customers in need who are passing through Iowa. read more

Lonnie Hogeland runs this business very well. I had bought my truck from him and every step of the way he was there helping me out with any issues that arrived. I was able to go on a tow ride-along and he handled that professionally and efficiently. I've never had any problems with the staff, ever. Their dog is my favorite. They keep the shop clean and the parts organized. I believe they are running it like how a family business should be run. I would definitely keep them on the radar if you need a tow. read more

They say first impressions always last, they weren't kidding, just trying up to this "facility" the first thing that catches your eye is multiple signs with "vote Trump" plastered all over them, last time I remember most successful businesses tend to keep their political agenda private, or maybe out of the publics view. Also the second you walk into the shop, you get greeted by the worker playing with a DOG in the next room.. don't get me wrong dogs are awesome and great pets, but preferably when I go pick up my car I don't want to see a business worker playing an animal, last time I remember this isn't a veterinary clinic. I don't remember the ladies name but she was very rude and had a very bad attitude. Maybe "Lonnie". The place also looked very shabby and not well taken care of from the outside. I suggest you to go anywhere else in town and steer clear of this place and its bigot and racist employees. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

Action Auto Parts

I just bought 2 tires from Action auto. I went in for 1. I should have walked, but I took the deal…read morebecause I'm getting a little desperate. Its an odd size and i having trouble finding a used one. My wife and I and our 2 children have been dependent on one car getting us all to school and work for the better part of a week. It's been difficult. I went in to the office and the guy said they have 2 for $50. I told him I only need 1 and his response was " you can buy 2 for $50 or 1 for $50, your choice". We are sitting on $160with 9 days til payday and they wouldn't sell me 1 for $25. Every trip the store is minimum $30, gas is $4 a gallon. What a dick move! One new tire is $50, and they know it. They could have helped me out, instead they took advantage of the situation to move merchandise and make things harder for my family. Good job on the extra $25 guys! I won't be going back

He told me the total was $401.25!!! At first I was surprised but then I thought that they replaced the whole wiring. I got there and they only replaced the connector to the car. WTF!!! I asked the guy about it and he said that he had to"test the wires"? For that price I thought they would have replaced the whole wiring. I told the guy," for another $75 I could buy a whole new trailer with wiring and everything". He didn't want to talk about it with me anymore he kept telling me to talk to his boss. So I did. I called the place the next day, and spoke with the OWNER of SHOWROOM AUTO JIM JOHNSON. Mr Johnson seemed cordial at first, but then when I tried to explain how I didn't understand how I could be charged $400 for someone to basically replace a "pigtail" he became belligerent and said that I should have asked for a quote. PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT, THEY RIPPED ME OFF FOR HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, AND GOT AWAY WITH IT!!!!

They make you feel like you're their most important customer every time, without fail. Mike is just about the nicest, most accommodating man. He always makes sure you're taken care of, and makes it a point to not overcharge or suggest services that don't need doing. I know I can trust his word and his work. As a young woman (who is not very mechanically inclined) it can be intimidating to set up appointments with mechanics, but not once have I felt anything negative working with this business. I suggest them to anyone and everyone I know. Couldn't be more happy with my experiences there!
