During my Google search I discover My Story Cafe through an article about the owners journey. Being a Caribbean girl myself, I had to go support this Trinidadian, Black, Woman owned business. So I decided I'd use my morning walk which ended up being about 3/4 of a mile to walk to My Story from my hotel. Thankfully it was a nice walk as it wasn't too hot while I was there. My first two days I ordered the an iced French toast latte. The third day I ordered the iced Vietnamese coffee as Ms Jacqueline's recommendation. I was skeptical as I've previously had Vietnamese iced coffees that were overly sweet but hers was velvety, smooth, and balanced. I understood the hype but I info recommend the French toast latte as well! Ms Jacqueline and I connected over those three days, we shared laughs, talked community and our beloved islands as well as all things food! I got to see first hand her connection with locals, the way she builds community and works hard as just one person running the show. We're family now, and anytime I'm Back in Charlotte my first stop will be to go visit my new auntie! Be patient, she gets busy. But the coffee and conversation is worth it. He's gone out of his way to help me with any questions as I navigated my move, both before, during and after my relocation from out-of-state. The common spaces in the building are bright and incredibly well-decorated, and I love the fact that there's a separate yoga studio and gym. It's fun to be one of the first residents of a new building, and I can't wait to meet even more of my neighbors (and their dogs)! Ello House monthly charge $70 for WiFi that constantly buffers, disconnects. Savvy tech neighbors will suck up your Gig. No account assigned to your name but you get to deal with the Spectrum morons!! Unauthorized entry when not home. Purchase your own video security system that doesn't use their WiFi. Lauren will sell you on "wired for own secure network" but that's a lie! Wires are there, not live and will never be because building has non-stop electrical issues and Ello House wants the $70 /month income. Wait till the bi-yearly electric shut down that lasts for 12 hours. Buy a big cooler! No storage. A/C - heat good. Washers are a roll of the dice. Crime ridden and no interior security guard and no cameras! Cars constantly broken into. A resident had their car roof smashed by garage door closing too soon. Too bad, so sad! Great dog park if the elevator is working. Some days dog poop everywhere but maintenance is short on staff and do their best. Any breed of dogs allowed so prepare for constant dog fights at the park! Small yappy dogs barking 24/7 in units can drive you nuts! Pit Bull fights! Floors so thin.... Party crowd returns home with a wake up stomping and ??? at 2:00 - 3:00 am every night but Monday! Pool is way, way too small for all the residents. Hot? tub always broken! Maintenance was nice and responsive. 1/4 resident office staff is usually nice. Resident turn over is huge (Jessica and Lauren?) Garbage cans fill the halls at night. Garbage shoot available but can be a walk. Add $100 month to rent for garbage fees and water. Turn on everything before renting.... Even the hot water and run a load of laundry. Windows/shades - horrible design if you like to open from time to time. Can't remember everything but this should help. Go to South end!!! Soooo much nicer and you can walk everywhere. Oh! The traffic! Holy cannoli!
