Ever since Classic BMW moved to their multi-million dollar facility in Plano, their service dept has become more expensive and much more inept. This is why I took it upon myself to find a good independent shop. Luckily I stumbled upon European Auto Tech, which is basically the service bay for Passport Motors in Plano. When you call European Auto Tech, you will most likely be talking to Sergey, the head mechanic who runs the shop. Yes, mechanic... not a clueless "service advisor" who sits in a cubicle all day... but a bona fide mechanic who will actually perform some of the work on your car! His prices are often 40% to 50% off what any dealer would charge, and the work is done quickly. He performed one major repair for me last year (A/C evaporator replacement) and I could not have asked for anything more. The one thing I like about Sergey is that he will take the time to explain what is wrong with your car and walk you through the repairs. If you show up to the garage while your car is being worked on, he will take you to your car and explain exactly what they are doing. If the job is going to take a while, they will get you a loaner car. At an indie repair shop, this is almost unheard of. I was given a 2001 BMW 740i. I know, nothing to write home about, but it was fun imagining what it was like to be a big baller back in 2001. In short, if your BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, etc. is out of warranty and needs some work, I would not hesitate to go to European Auto Tech. read more

Arthur and his team do an outstanding job at very fair prices. I bring all of our vehicles for servicing and have never been disappointed with the prices, or quality of the work. In fact, there was a time about a year ago, one of my vehicles was having erroneous sensor readings. They worked in the car for several extra days,which included them having to contact programming specialists in London the download a software fix. Quite a bit of extra work on their part, and despite that they honored the original price quoted for the work. A rarity in this day and age. I highly recommend these folks! read more

I first came here a few years ago with my 2007 BMW 328i to get some minor collision damage fixed. I found them fair and reasonably priced, so I've come back whenever I needed anything outside standard maintenance. I've really come to appreciate the professionalism and quality based on a variety of fixes to my car (rear windows stopped working, etc...). We've been coming here for years for work on our autos ( three bmw's, Volvo, Infiniti) and have had a great experience every time. Most recently, we brought our QX56 in for repairs and the team identified a major problem. After working on it for several hours they recommended we go to the dealer to try and claim it under warranty. They topped us off with oil and didn't even charge us for their efforts. This doesn't happen in the repair biz. Arthur, Caesar and their team are professionals and are great to work. They will continue to service our vehicles going forward. I took my vehicle to European Auto Tech for a pre-purchase inspection. Arthur was very friendly and helpful from the beginning. They were transparent with what it would cost me to have the inspection done. I sent him a list of concerns I had that I wanted him to check out, again very friendly and willing to help. Upon completion he went over in detail everything that he saw wrong with my car, and what it would cost me to fix. There were no additional charges, just what we had previously discussed. He really paid attention to detail and pointed out concerns that I think most people would look over. I am very happy I took this vehicle to him and will be taking my vehicles to the shop in the future. Finding an auto mechanic shop that you can trust can be difficult to find, but I would definitely say European Auto Tech is a trustworthy shop. read more

I drive a 330CI BMW and have been going to European Auto Tech for years, my family included. I took my car in, in the morning, complaining about the rear end shaking every time I accelerate. I hadn't heard from them all day so I called and asked if they had looked at my car, to which they replied, "It's your drive shaft we have to keep it over night to fix it." It would have been nice to know that I was out a car for over 24 hours... some people do honest work for a living. When I received my car the next day, it proceeded to do the EXACT same thing I was complaining about previously. So I called Sergey and told him it was still shaking. His response, "There are two pieces to your drive shaft, it must be the other one." I just dropped $500 for him to fix absolutely nothing on my car. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. So I took it else where to get a second opinion. When all was said and done, I had a faulty tire with a slipped belt that was causing my rear end to shake. The total cost of repairs... $3 to dispose of the bad tire. Might I also add that I took my car to European Auto Tech on numerous occasions suspecting a leak somewhere in my car. They claimed to have never found one and yet my car smelled of oil all the time. When I took my car for that second opinion for the shaking, I threw in that there might also be a leak. They did find a leak, two actually, in the valve cover gasket! After all was said and fixed I went back to European Auto Tech to talk to Sergey of the pointless, unnecessary work that he did to my car. But, I was very nice, telling him I had been coming there for years, explaining my story, showed him the invoices of the real work that was done to my car, and asked if he was going to make this right. Naturally he stuck to his guns about his work being valid. I never got upset or irate with him, only stating that when I left his shop after supposedly fixing the problem, my car was exuding the exact same symptoms as I had left him with. I spent $500 for which he told me, then it must be something else. Chances are, if I was naïve and took my car back to him, TRUSTING him to fix it, I would have spent another $500 easily, and the problem would have still gone unfixed. What a horrific experience. 'Had my Jaguar XJ8L for TWO Weeks. After the first week and no communication, I found out they could not locate the needed module. I made ONE call to the local Jag dealer, bought the part, and had it hand delivered. Now after receiving the module, we are informed they cannot complete the repair. I have very rare car, rare enough these guys are the only place with the systems to service technical repairs. They have fixed it by adapting from audio and BMW and we're able to find the last part in the u.s. to fix the turbo. Found one part in CT and another in los angeles. Too bad "zero" stars isn't an option.... These guys also operate as Passport Motors, and use this same shop/address to do as little as possible to their incoming used cars. Thus, despite advising them on their improper repairs of the window regulators on our BMW, they refused to either fix, or pay a dime to fix, the massive water leaks which resulted from their incompetent repair attempts. Ignored phone calls and a certified letter, etc. There's more, but in the interest of brevity: AVOID--neither competent nor honest--that's as bad a combo as one can find. (And these sorts seem to gravitate toward the car business, especially here.) read more

I've been taking my Audi here for a couple of years now and I'm telling you, the service and price is second to no one in the Metroplex. John and Sergey have always been very fair and honest. For example, I went in to see why my check engine light was on. Sergey told me within 20 min that I needed to replace my ignition coils. The best part was, he told me to take it to the dealership bc they had been recalled and they'll do it for free. He could have easily not told me about the recall and done the work himself. Customer service was rock bottom. It was quite difficult to get clear communication from the initial contact to get a quote to the completion of the work. It seemed as if the right hand had no idea what the right hand was doing. Finally the work was done and upon settling the invoice, they had no qualms about prejudging me and creating erroneous requirements to pay. Maybe it was the visual, two black women that prompted the rep to make copies of my drivers license and credit card (front and back which is contrary to all credit card transaction standards) in fact is illegal in some states. The rep said I can pay with cashiers check, cash but would not accept my credit card without the copy. The other black woman was my pregnant wife. He further questioned the legitimacy of our marriage because we do not have the same last name. We were highly offended and she left in tears. Their treatment was nothing short of demeaning and utterly offensive. Unfortunately, I can't say things like this have never happened to me but it's been a very long time. I will NEVER do business with a merchant who has demonstrated no respect for clients. Thanks but no thanks, I'll keep my dignity. read more

I would recommend staying far away from these guys. Dropped of a car recently bought to have them check it out for issues. Dropped off on friday and they told me it might be done eod or atleast Saturday. I heard nothing until 1 hour before closing on sat and was told they hadnt got to it. I told i was coming right away to pick it up and to have it ready. I got there and they told me that they went ahead and did a checkout and was going to charge me $100. They didnt have my permission to do that and i ended up getting a rushed checkout. So was forced to pay for a poorly checkout when i didnt even want them to do it. Also place is poorly run. There us only 1 person that works in service and when i called for status. I was continually told that only this one guy could help me, and he want around much.... dont waste your time with this place read more

I wish I had read the Yelp review of the car sales for this company (1 Star). I have a 2011 Volvo which I brought in on a Monday before noon for a state inspection, the repair of a check engine light and a mirror replacement. They did not get back to me that day. I called them early the next day and the salesman promised to send the diagnostic error codes. I only received a very expensive estimate for repair work. I tried to call my salesman for an explanation who did return my call. Lacking response and explanation by 5pm I decided to get my auto. The owner and I had a heated discussion the two issues, with no resolution and I was forced to pay $100 for diagnostics. I promised the owner, I would publicize the ultimate result so here it is. Removing the scheduled maintenance from the quote of the remaining $3170 in the estimate, only about $450 was necessary. They also did not address two other problems in the vehicle, one of those was crucial to clearing the check engine light. read more

I have brought my older Volvo to this place several times. Started out rather small but then had a major brake issue. I left the car there for quite a few weeks, letting them know I had another car to drive and was very pleased with the price and honesty. Then a few months later my check engine light came on along with a noisy front end when going over bumps. That was fixed along with a part of my struts and I am so happy with the way it drives! Arthur is the person I have dealt with for over the past year. He has been honest in every way. I was told by a place when getting tires that I needed a lot of work done that was simply not needed. Sergey performed the work on my car in a fair amount of time. However I found it very odd that the 2 office guys walked by me more than a dozen times each and never acknowledged me. I was clearly the only customer in their waiting area for several hours. It was a weird experience and definitely not the way I would treat a customer in my business. Maybe it's a cultural thing or a gender issue since I am a woman, but it's not a level of service I'm accustomed to. Maybe they should watch a popular video "Remember Me? I'm the Customer". First impressions are hard to dismiss; won't go back. I'll stick with Classic BMW. read more

I have a 2005 BMW X3, there is oil light come out 3 days ago, i went to this shop, the mechanician told me to repair the car i need to pay $952 dollar ($200+ for parts and $700+ for labor). I said i need 2nd opinion, then they ask me to pay $95 diagnostic fee. I paid it and took my car to NTB for 2nd opinion, finally it cost me $382 ($200+ parts and $150+ labor) to repair my car, and NTB guys just spend 90 minutes to ge everything done. The mechanicians in this shop is really not honest and you can not trust on them. read more

After calling on 3 places to repair my 2008 Volvo C70 and getting estimates over $1,000, luckily my 4th call was to Arthur at European Auto Tech. He provided a written estimate over the phone in 10 minutes ($380!). Service experience was excellent, Arthur also personally adjusted my headlights and replaced a running light bulb for no charge. I definitely regret using this company. If you are used to the reasonably good customer service you get from a dealer, you will probably be disappointed as well. After pointing out that a repair job was not complete, the owner was not only unapologetic, but he actually tried to convince me that this work was not necessary. When his mechanic disagreed with him, he then told me that this was not part of the estimate and was not included. When I explained the absurdity of his point, he became angry, started calling me names, and stormed off, thus ending the conversation. I'll get it fixed correctly elsewhere. read more
