I'm really old school even when it comes to desserts and sweets. For me, ube is the best flavor for ice cream. And if I wanted to be experimental, I would rather try Durian than Choco Hazelnut. So, if my friends want to make me happy, they invite me for a snack or a meal at a bonafide Filipino restaurant and not the neo-Filipino or fusion type eating places.
It's no surprise that if I find myself craving for something sweet when I'm in Greenbelt 1, I don't go to the nearest gelato shop. Instead, I head to the Eurobake outlet, which is the home of two of my favorite local delicacies - ensaymada and inipit. What's more, the store also sells big bags of chicharon with laman, making it a true haven for me. When I'm at the shop, I often have a hard time deciding on what to buy because there's just so many things on display that remind me of my childhood.
Some of the other specialty food items that they sell are broas, roasted peanuts, specialty vinegar, yema, tarts, toasted pastillas, and pastillas made from carabao's milk, a Bulacan delicacy. read more
