The highlights, for me, are the great variety of greens, fruits and vegetables (including organic ones!) and the fact that they sell Santïs meats, so I don't have to do two shopping trips. They sell also a good variety of rice (if you're not used to the filipino one, then they have Basmati, Jasmine, Brown Rice and much more) and beans. Thanks to the beans from Landmark, I can keep the Brazilian "rice and beans" tradition at home. And believe me, that means a lot to me :) I also love Landmark's food court. There's a green juice in some stall there that's is just perfect. I also like Bread Talk and Kumori, the Japanese bakery. I mean, there's a lot to explore there before you start pushing your shop cart! TIP: Landmark is cheaper than Rustan's and has much more variety than the SM Supermarket. Choose it for the big once-a-month grocery.

I happened to pass by this tiny Indian grocer in Paseo de Magallanes called Incredible India Food Depot, and it is packed floor to ceiling with food--spices, canned vegetables, curious-looking sugary Indian snacks, several types of dals and legumes, chutneys and preserves, and even Maggi's Indian version of instant noodles called "Multi Grainz" which claims to be healthier (it was a bit bland, if you're wondering, but definitely tastes of Indian spices). They also have ready to eat and frozen samosas, breads, and spring rolls, if you want a quick Indian food fix. I usually frequent Indian grocers for raw ingredients because they're usually more affordable than some large supermarkets, AND you can buy some of these in bulk. Since I'm vegan, some of us need a constant supply of chickpea flour (called besan, which can be purchased here really cheap in a hefty-sized bag), affordable TVP (textured vegetable protein), dals, spices, and the fairy dust of vegan cuisine, kala namak, or black Indian salt that has a distinct, egg-y flavor.

Here we discovered the least expensive Melona being sold so far. It's so cheap that my friend was able to buy a lot and sell to people in the office for a marginal profit. How enterprising! The cubed French Vanilla ice cream being served as dessert in Chung Mi Rae, the Korean resto in Timog, is also being sold here for I think only 11 or 13pesos! Another discovery was this sesame-flavored instant noodles that is sooo, so good! It's 50pesos for the one in the cup container, and slightly cheaper for the one in plastic. There's a spicy version too. I don't know the name because it is in Korean, but it comes in yellow packaging and has an egg yolk in the photo. Teppen is well-stocked compared to other Korean Japanese stores and I am glad I found it. In fact, it's time for another trip!

Teppen has somewhat become a small community 'hangout' for the Koreans that frequent the church on the same building, as well as other Japanese-Korean expats nearby. Inside the store you can often find foreigners sipping on coffee and playing chess. My mom's office used to be at Marvin Plaza, and when I was younger she would take me to Teppen so I could get Korean ice cream and bottled peach ice tea. When I switched to a vegan lifestyle and my mom changed workplaces, Teppen was still a place I frequent for a few lazy-meal essentials. If you love dumplings, Teppen has quite a selection of various types of dumplings. For vegan dumplings, get the mushroom and leek varieties (Wang was the brand, if I recall correctly). They're so easy to prepare (Just steam! Frying them makes them less flavorful) and are so good dipped in a little Kikkoman. Their prices vary from cheap to very reasonable, compared to a lot of Japanese/Korean grocers that are on the pricier side. Other kitchen essentials I get here are kimchi, nori sheets and dried shiitake mushrooms. Though if there's one thing I can really recommend you get to fix that salty food craving, try the roasted salted seaweed snacks! They come in really handy small rectangular packs with a few sheets of seaweed inside. It's perfect for an afternoon office snack...or really, any-time-of-the-day snack. Some taste more roasted than the others. Some are saltier, while some are a bit spicy. It's really a matter of trying them all to find out the best taste that suits you, I think. Though I'm not very particular, I'll happily eat any kind. I just love them so much it's ridiculous.

It has a 10 year warranty sticker still on the ref. This was a double door fridge. Should not break within a year for 37,000 pesos. For a customer that spends a significant amount when I go, and have them tell me that they will do nothing about it? Shame. It's not a cheap item. And to receive no help. Well, you lost my business, as well as my sisters. Sad. I went again to talk with 3 different managers. He told me they have a protocol they have to go through ( basically tell me they will email my boss with the details, takes your phone number, and address. ) he said if he were to take the refrigerator back, it would come out of his pocket. (No it doesn't) if it were true you can file a claim for it because he was just following the law. The law says you must honor the warranty. There is nobody from American homes helping, willing to fix the refrigerator. It is a scam. Selling broken and defected products.

It's a small shop that sells deli, cheese, fresh vegetables, imported food items, and frozen meat and fish products. What really caught my eye was the artisanal ice cream that they carry. Not only do they have the now popular Carmen's Best, but they also have Sebastian's and Adam's as well. As a deli, they have sandwiches, salads, pizza, and coffee. On the downside, the shop has a very limited seating capacity. I was lucky to visit on a Saturday afternoon. According to the cashier, their store usually fills up with customers on weekdays, especially during lunch and merienda hours. The hot summer afternoons of recent weeks make this a good place to unwind and drink coffee. Most probably to maintain the freshness of their goods, the temperature inside the shop is cool.

The restaurant has a typical homey vibe you feel when you step into a Korean restaurant. We were greeted by the owners who are a lovely and friendly Korean husband and wife. They were really accommodating and the service was great. We saw a lot of Korean patrons as well so we knew for sure the food was as good and as authentic as it can get. My family said the food tastes just like the food in Korea! The appetizers alone can be very filling! There's A LOT (I kid you not) of yummy appetizers to choose from (get all) and you can ask for seconds! Everything we ordered was reaaally good and tasty. My favorite was the bibimbap! Tip is to mix the appetizers in for kicks of extra flavor and makes it even yummier. The crowd favorite was the Samgyeopsal. Can't get enough of it! It's grilled pork belly served with sliced raw garlic, Korean salt (yummy!) and wrapped in lettuce. They're very generous with the lettuce as well and you can always as for more.

We are always promptly greeted with a warm and enthusiastic smile. Although we know the menu well, the servers always tell us if there's a special/promo going on (there usually is) and we go from there. A'Toda Madre has, without a doubt, the best selection of tequilas and mezcal that can be found in the Philippines. Every time we go, they have a new varietal that they encourage us to try. And their margaritas are dangerously delicious. They go down all too easily (and quickly)! The food is authentic Mexican that would make any Mexican native proud. The street tacos are the best we've had (outside of Mexico) and they pair perfectly with a cold cerveza or a tequila old-fashioned. Their menu features a variety of traditional Mexican dishes and an entire page of unique, specialty margaritas and cocktails. Btw their head bartender Cherrie is brilliant when preparing any drink you may request. In short, if you find your self in Makati, especially the Poblacion area, stop by A'Toda Madre. It's consistently a five-star experience! Oh, and they also usually have great live music on the weekends - another big plus!
