We bought a refrigerator that is double door, and as soon as it was dropped off, it had a rattling. We went to customer service and was told that I if they were to pick it up, they can't until after the weekend, and then it would put you over the 7 warranty with the store. He said I would have to call the service number, which said that I need my receipt, which was printed on a disappearing paper. When I got it reprinted, they told me that they only have 1 year on it. It has a 10 year warranty sticker still on the ref. This was a double door fridge. Should not break within a year for 37,000 pesos. For a customer that spends a significant amount when I go, and have them tell me that they will do nothing about it? Shame. It's not a cheap item. And to receive no help. Well, you lost my business, as well as my sisters. Sad. I went again to talk with 3 different managers. He told me they have a protocol they have to go through ( basically tell me they will email my boss with the details, takes your phone number, and address. ) he said if he were to take the refrigerator back, it would come out of his pocket. (No it doesn't) if it were true you can file a claim for it because he was just following the law. The law says you must honor the warranty. There is nobody from American homes helping, willing to fix the refrigerator. It is a scam. Selling broken and defected products. read more

As a member of S&R since the store opened I was very disappointed with the horrible experience my wife had entering the store! Our household is only my wife and I and we often shop separately. Today the person checking ID at the door refused my wife and demanded she report her problem to customer service. They wanted my wife to get her own membership card!!! Why would you demand we both pay a membership fee when you have families of 6 or more with one membership??? Are you discriminating against foreigners or are your employees just ignorant and untrained? The manager allowed her to shop but cautioned her to get her own membership card !!! With both NCCC and LANDERS opening this year perhaps this kind of unreasonable behavior will drive your customers to new options! We often buy 16-20,000 Pesos per month. S&R is the move for busy people who can't stop by the grocery store multiple times a week or people who just enjoy saving an extra buck by buying in bulk. I've been to a couple of S&Rs in Metro Manila and I would say that this one is probably the most hectic. The aisles aren't as wide as the locations on Congressional or Shaw so maneuvering their American-sized shopping carts around the aisles, especially near the baked goods and frozen foods, becomes somewhat of a hassle. The staff here is super friendly and accommodating, especially given the sheer amount of business this location is. I realize that the staff members here appear to be a bit more adept at answer questions than the other workers at other locations. Food here is actually pretty good. I know people ridicule Sam's Club and Costco pizza and their other fast food fare, but for some reason (probably equal parts nostalgia and cravings), their pizza here is delicious!! I recommend the garlic shrimp. The size is huge too, especially for the Philippines. read more

I just want to review this place so much that I couldn't help it! This is my favorite grocery store EVER. Apart from the fact that they carry premium international brands, you can also buy them in the dozens, which is ideal for huge eaters like my family, and a girl who is owned by a dozen cats. You can just imagine how much I spend for cat food and litter every week, huh? Well, S&R gets me saving up a few hundreds with their readily available 30lbs-45lbs cat litters versus when I get them from other pet suppliers and groceries. There are cheaper brands that they don't carry, like the Indonesian brand "CATSAN" among others. But yeah, when it comes to quality, for the clumping action that I get from S&R's "Litter Purrfect" and "Scoop Away", it is almost priceless. (Way to go, self, you just reviewed cat litter quality instead of the grocery itself!) With all fairness though, some food in S&R can pretty much just be found there. Take their ready-to-eat steak and chicken for instance. Sometimes, they come with a bottle of Pepsi. So conveniently unhealthy, yet satisfying in a sense! (haha) That's not all. Wait to you get home and get a taste of how tender that steak is! I also love that I can get Friskies wet food here in a six pack and save up a few twenties versus when I buy them in singles at Cartimar...Not to mention the 12 can-pack of Ginger Ale, or all other widely unavailable sodas to get my drink-mixing fix on. There's a catch to this though--you need to be a member to shop here, which my folks currently are. I will be working on my own membership soon. It's just overwhelming seeing them showing papers of our family businesses during membership renewal at the moment. Whew, requirements galore! read more

I feel so sorry for everyone going to S&r for their so called sale 50% off and buy 1 get 1. Saw elderly people waiting in the hot sun as I drive by and had maybe been out there for an hour to get in all to purchase items they raised the price on then offset but 1 take 1. You can get the same items cheaper online and not have to have heatstroke and pay a membership fee. I pray folks start to understand the gimmick and not subject their parents and kids to this type of kaos. They just raise prices and then offer buy 1 get 1. Better to shop online if buying local products as it will be cheaper, and you getting 1 cheaper than having to buy 2 with this gimmick pricing. Shame on S&R with this. read more

I've been visiting this place for many times now and I'm still surprised at how S&R has everything. From your bathroom needs, kitchen needs (both food like fish, fruits, vegetables, cheese, ice cream etc. and appliances), living room, backyard, shirts, snacks, car, laundry, and pet needs. They also have cakes, pastries, roasted chicken, and ribs. .When you get hungry from buying your groceries, they also have a place where you can buy food like pizza, calzones, or burgers and tables where you can rest and enjoy your food. Their membership fee is a small price to pay for the convenience and quality items that this place offers. Because they have everything, this is the only place you will need to buy your groceries. Their location is also a key to their being a great supermarket. You also get the chance to buy premium items not sold in other supermarkets. S&R also has their Sales season where you can find good deals and very low prices. Beside it is MC Home Depot, where you can get supplies for your home like doors and faucets. I recommend this supermarket if you want to buy things in bulk. They have great promos and the products are cheaper than in other places. Of course you need a membership card to enjoy all this. You have to pay an annual fee for it (P700 if I'm not mistaken), but the money you save every time you go there is worth paying for the card. I also love the fact they have a great variety of imported products. For chocolate lovers, it's paradise! S&R is actually the only place where I could find dulce de leche in Manila. Not an ordinary dulce de leche. An extraordinary one! The access theres is quite easy. It's located in the Fort, close to St. Luke's Hospital. I highly recommend applying fort the Membership Card. Before I even knew S&R was a grocery place, I thought it was a new American diner or something where you could get great take out. My mom would bring home S&R pizzas on some dinners and my family (of SEVEN) would take less than 30 minutes to devour the entire thing. Their pizzas are so gooey and cheesy - and for around P550 it's not a bad deal at all. When my mom brought me to the Fort BGC branch one Saturday, I was totally amazed at how big the place was! There were so many international products that were hard to find in most groceries. I'm not sure if the products are actually cheaper there, but it's nice having them all in one place. The pastries are delicious too, and they often have some on sale. Sometimes I spend some time just sampling the different pastries (and the ladies are nice enough not to judge me). read more

You know that cliché about a kid in a candy store? I think that's what every trip to S&R is like for adult foodies. I have never left S&R with just the items that I had in mind when I walked in. Never. From veggie chips to breakfast sausage patties to an extremely good deal on Old Spice body soap, there's always something at S&R that makes me go, "Grace, look at this!" I think that's why we stopped doing our grocery there and just saved trips to S&R for when we're looking to indulge. Aside from unique chip flavors and items you won't find anywhere else (I recently got a 4-pack of Hershey's chocolate-flavored soy milk), I've also gotten a balcony table, a couple of tumblers, and a set of microwaveable Rubbermaid baon containers. An S&R membership is worth every peso you spend on it! Not only are there great finds and discounts for grocery items, I've gone here even specifically just to eat! I've actually gone to S&R just to eat more times than I've gone here to shop! Great food for when you're eating on a budget! Plus it doesn't feel like you're settling for it because the food is actually really good! You can get a big slice of pizza for roughly p100 and their soda here is refillable! They recently added southern fried chicken to the menu, and it is delicious! A salty, crunchy outer coating and real tasty on the inside! Plus it comes with a big serving of gravy that goes perfect with the chicken and rice. For dessert they have blue bunny ice cream that they always serve in BIG scoops! S&R is simply the greatest. Currently the country's only membership shopping franchise, S&R keeps an impressive number of imported and local inventory. Stepping foot on an S&R feels like going to an American megamarket (Like Costco, for example?), and this is emphasized by the number of american products on sale there and practically nowhere else. S&R is also a good place to check out home stuff and appliances that come at reasonable prices. S&R also has the most awesome food court, serving in my opinion the finest pizza in the city. The hotdogs are awesome as well. The only beef I have with S&R is that everybody knows it's awesome, which means everybody's in there. EVERYBODY. They food is pretty good and good quality. They have a small membership fee to be a member but titally worth it. They've had sales here and she'll camp out here for them. This place is more than just any usual grocery store. If you're missing Costco and you're living here in the Philippines, this is the perfect substitute. They carry a lot of imported products that are not available in some of the local groceries here. This place gets pretty packed especially when they're on sale. But waiting in line especially for the pizza is totally worth it! Wish their custom service is as good as Costco's but overall it's the Costco of the Philippines. I love shopping in S&R because this place has so many cool things to offer. They have great pastries (personal favorite: lemon cake) and is so far the only grocery I know that offers industrial sized packages of tampons. They also have industrial-sized everything, from hand soap to packages of pop-tarts, so this is the place to go if you're up for buying things in bulk. S&R also hosts a variety of imported goods you can't find in other groceries, like certain brands of chocolate or various canned products. Not to mention the infamous S&R pizza. I've always hated thick-crusted pizza with a passion, but S&R pizza is the only pizza I'm willing to make exceptions for. I love trips to the grocery, it is where I learned how to practice my ninja reflexes and sneak everything I want without my mother noticing. A trip to S&R in particular always gets me excited. There's just something about their towering aisles that makes it feel like a fun maze of sorts. Everywhere I turn there's just something I want staring back at me. I remember how I was dying to get their giant trampoline despite knowing I had no where to put it, or when I decided I needed to buy their gazebo set because it looked pretty (of course, none of my wishes were fulfilled). S&R is the Costco of the Philippines! Judging from the system and how the place looks like, it definitely reminds of the Costco in the United States. I tend to be a sucker for places with all kinds of food that are microwavable or pop-in-the-oven ones. I am just addicted to the fish sticks and bacon. It's as simple as using a toaster and I love it! Not only are the things in there great but also the pizzas they sell for dining in. The slices are huge and they taste like the ones in the states. I always order their pepperoni pizza because it's just the kind of pepperoni I prefer! That's how I think it should be made. Lots of cheese and lots of pepperoni. A slice is good enough to make me full so for just 99 php, I'm really happy! For dessert, I always get the cinnamon churros. It's so good! S&R is such a great place to shop and eat!
